The Old Jail House is a has great food and great armosphere in downtown Sanford. The menu is small, but the flavor and execution of the dishes is on point. Also, had a old fashioned cocktail that exceeded my expectations. The way the incorporate tge jail theme throught the restaurants is brilliant. Reserve a table days in advance on the weekends or you may not be able to visit this gem.Parking: The City has a free parking lot a block from the spot but its gets pretty congested during the weekends. The on-street parking is free but difficult to come by at peak hours.

We came for drinks Saturday and sat at the bar. We were not greeted initially, even though the bartender was there, because she was talking with a server about drama. My husband tried to order Buffalo Trace and was told that they don’t have that even though there were multiple items advertising it lol. None the less, the atmosphere was so cool! The tell-tale drink was delicious. We would love to come back and try the food.

Arrived 15min early before our reservation, hostess didn't ask for name for or acknowledge reservation for us...Bella the bartender was great, food was great and server Ebony was great too!
We had the beet salad and the pork belly appetizers followed by the espresso crème brûlée. Everything was outstanding. Our server Dylan was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine we ordered. We came at 5 and were sorry we hadn't requested a table in the bar area, bc we were in the front room with four tables and we were the only ones for 45 minutes. We enjoy quiet, but we enjoy being with other diners. We will be back! Lots of things we'd like to try on the menu.
We sat outside and it was warm and quiet. The food was excellent and we added 2 sides which were exceptional. The prices are very reasonable. Our waiter was very attentive. The old jailhouse was charming.

My party of 7 went. 5 of us ordered the same thing, steak (I ordered mine well done), garlic potatoes & brussel sprouts. When I got my steak, it was rare. Even my husband who loves rare steak wouldn't eat it. So we ordered the burger. I finally got it after my table mates had finished eating. One of them said, ‘you may want to look because there's a lot of red juice coming out.' We cut it open, very rare. Within 30 seconds, our waitress comes back to say ‘the kitchen gave me the wrong burger.' ? I waited an HOUR & still was not served the food the correct way. Needless to say, I left hungry. Our waitress was great about everything, we don't blame her at all.
The steaks were good but the shrimp skewers were amazing. We all enjoyed the pork belly & croquette appetizers. Delish!! The Making Christmas signature cocktail was sooo good. Our server Veronica was excellent. Attended to all our needs but didn't over do it. We will come back to try different meals.
