Joseph J. Awesome food. I love when managers go above and beyond. Definitely try the soups and salad.

Starting off with the food, it was delicious. The rice was blowing my mind. It was probably the best tasting fried rice I’ve ever had in my life, and I also had steak with it, and it was topped off with so much sauces that was probably also the best steak I’ve ever had in my life too. Now onto the service everybody was quite nice to me. I got a souvenir cup, which was also very nice and The staff had so much nice manners. Also, the chef was so cool had so much training five stars to the chef. Now the atmosphere wasn’t that good a lot of kids were screaming and crying. There was a baby beside me I think, and my table mates. It works being as good. There were a lot of kids around me as well. They were being right well some people were on their phones on the phone call and it was just overwhelming, overall I really like this restaurant I would come here as many times as I can. If you have a chance to go to this restaurant, take it.

We went to DaRuMa at Sarasota North, Fruitville Road, and was a surprise for my birthday. I was very excited as I've been to many Benihana and other Hibachi restaurants. We said we signed up for the Birthday and told them but they said it could take up to 14 days to receive an e-mail. Strike #1 as we thought they would honor it and would of had an email right away. Fortunately, we were the only 4 top at our table so that was a plus. I do have food allergies which they said they would fix my plate in the back. No worries as I watched my family and friends get theirs cooked and served. I was very excited for the veggies as they had a variety. I also told our waiter that I loved butter and garlic butter. Well, we asked about my meal as I waited about 15 minutes and no food. The waiter said he wasn't the cook then brought my meal. No apology or nothing. There was no butter on my veggies and only 3 things were there in the mix which was missing my favorites, onions and zucchini. Strike 2 and 3 for waiting and food had no taste and was cold. As most restaurants do something fun at no cost for your birthday, they served their cake and ice cream and we thought it was included. Nope, strike #4, we got charged for it. Plus they put a tip on their checks and they take 20% but they have listed on it 18% and 25% also so seems like you would get a choice. We don't mind paying for good service and warm food but this was a huge let down. I did not think the ambiance was that good as it was dark and had an odor to it. Sad, that most people say it is wonderful and we were underwhelmed to say the least.

Always fun and great service. Food is good, but a little too seasoned for my liking.

Beautiful restaurant, have been coming here since I was a child. However the traditional in the back style eating, is very expensive for a very miminal amount of food (chicken hibachi). Also vegans/dairy intolerant beware, the fried rice has dairy in it (butter). Otherwise, a pleasant experience.

Believe me this place doesn’t even deserve one star! We are from the north, in Pennsylvania, going to different hibachi restaurants is our thing. We have been as far as Iowa to Florida, this place is definitely the worst place ever! Don’t get me wrong the show was good, the food was soo bad we never touched our rice! It was like a pile of mush! We even paid the extra for the fried rice! This place is horrible I don’t know how they are still in business tbh! This definitely isn’t the food we are use to having. Let’s bring Nikkos Japanese steakhouse down here and it would put this place right out of business

We came down to visit my son in law and his family. We've never been here before and we all enjoyed the evening. I had the flaming crab volcano appetizer. Very good. The best chocolate martini I've ever had! All the dinners come with soup and ginger salad and rice. I had the filet mignon and scallops. Excellent! My husband had the chicken and filet and he really enjoyed it. The kids had Karate Kid drinks in glass parrot glasses.

Decent Japanese steakhouse. Food prepared in front of customer. A bit over salty.

Typical Japanese steak house food out side of the crème brûlée. Before we were done with our dinner the manager came to the table with carry out boxes and to go bags. I realize they have to turn tables to maximize revenue, but we wanted dessert and an after dinner drink. The decor is ok with some modern flare to it. It's a fun place for a group of friends

This place was horrific. Let's start from the beginning. We decided to spend my daughter's 7th birthday here. She was so excited, we made the reservation and got dressed up... all very fun. We get there and are seated promptly. Around 15 minutes after we are seated the waitress arrives and takes our drink orders. Another 10-15 min goes by and we are still just sitting there, no drinks, no ordering... nothing. Our reservation and seating was at 6. We didn't order our food until 6:45. The show/dinner prep itself was only 15 minutes. So, something didn't quite add up. The food preparation and "show" was absolutely pathetic. At hibachi places there's always a standard of what you can expect. They always do a little train made of onions and light it on fire, then they'll make a heart out of the rice.. it's standard practice, that is the BARE MINIMUM. Our chef didn't do one trick or fun joke, or even talk... he was silent the whole time... just cooked the food in from of us and left. We didn't even get a shrimp toss. It was brief, boring, and he didn't even mention my daughter's birthday until the end when he packed up and said oh Happy Birthday. She's 7... he could have at least cracked a joke or smiled. The rice was burnt and the chicken rubbery and inedible. My kids got steak and they could barely bite through it. Husband got filet and shrimp and for someone who will basically eat anything, he didn't even finish half. What I was most displeased with was they didn't even sing "Happy Birthday" or bring out a candle... nothing. She's 7, we were expecting something fun and joyous when we came... it is a hibachi "experience" after all. I can honestly say this was the worst restaurant we have been to in Sarasota, by far. We ended up spending $200 on a dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids. For that price we could have gone somewhere they would have at least sang my daughter "Happy Birthday". Do yourself a favor and go absolutely anywhere else... you will thank me.
