Make a reservation, this place is busy. We went later on a Sunday night and still had a to wait.The food was excellent! I got the sesame tuna with baby bok choy and was not disappointed. The tuna "melted" in my mouth and everything is was seasoned to perfection. We took a gamble at a place we've never been and it was worth it.To be fair the place is beautiful inside. I really would like you to know that the inside seating is rather "intimate" with others around you. Our table was unusually close to the tables next to us. I imagine the reason for this is to maximize the amount of people who they can provide service to at the same time. One can't help but overhear conversations at the table next to them, and be sure that they hear yours.

We love this place! ...incredibly friendly and professional staff ...EXCELLENT prepared entrees ...great atmosphere...super location right on main street in the heart of it all ...outside dining available ...very flexible operating hours ... simply an excellent choice!! ...we love it! This restaurant is THE ABSOLUTE BEST IN SARASOTA! ...stopped by for an absolutely glorious lunch this afternoon. Jennifer took excellent care of us and escorted us through Lobster Bisque to die for, glorious Coconut Curry Mussels ...best in town ...wonderfully tasting Po Boy Combo and Burger Wednesday with the best tasting fries anywhere! EVERYTHING was prepared to perfection! ...and a great value to! ...we LOVE this restaurant ...and the staff is the absolute best of the best! It was absolutely amazing. We made a reservation the day before so we didn’t have to wait when we came. The food was delicious and cooked very well. The only thing was the restaurant was a bit loud only due to the fact that it was packed.

The food is delicious, sitting outside is really nice, and the servers are friendly. BUT the service is very slow. We noticed it but didn't say anything. They would bring the bread but no plates, or a beer but no glass, or dessert with no forks; everything took twice as long as it needed to. The table next to us made a scene and had their whole meal comped, so of course we asked for a free dessert! Might as well!
It was getting late & we weren't that hungry but wanted a snack & a drink. So many choices on Main St. We finally walked into Duval's & grabbed 2 seats at the bar. I ordered one of the house Sauvignon Blanc's served by the glass. It was nice and light not to citrusy. My husband ordered a scotch as we chatted with the very professional & friendly bartender. I ordered the tuna poke while my husband ordered the crab cake appetizer & the steak egg rolls. The crab cakes were a winner. He liked them so much he almost refused to give me a bite. I agreed they were delicious. He also enjoyed the 4 mini egg rolls served with a roulade sauce. My tuna poke was fresh & had a sweet chili taste but I found the tuna used was too mushy. Duval's was very busy as were most of the restaurants on Main. Definitely a place to try on the avenue.

Everytime we eat at Duval's we are reminded how fish should be prepared. Our meal was fantastic - not inexpensive but fabulous. The wait staff was excellent and the ambiance outside on the sidewalk was perfect for a warm evening. We will be back.

Our group of 6 Dine out every Friday night and go everywhere. Duval's was fabulous the fish was Cooked perfectly and McKenzie provided service with a smile. Great place and on the top of our places to return. We will be back.
