Fresh, flavorful, and food made with love are all adjectives I use to describe India Cafe. I really enjoyed my first order from India Cafe today (Sept. 2021). Currently India Cafe is only allowing takeout (no in-person dining) but they do curbside pickup. There are some parallel parking spots on the street steps from the front door but the restaurant is situated next to a parking garage that has complimentary spots for India Cafe.I am so glad I found IC. The India Cafe showed up in a online search as basically the only place I could get a dosa in SRQ land…you may think this is not a big deal but it is, trust me, especially after finding one restaurant that had them on their online menu and upon calling to inquire and finding out they do not make them anymore. This is the only place on the area to get your dosa fix.If you have not had a dosa before you are missing out! Upon calling it was explained to me that dosas are only available during lunch hours and advanced notice is preferred as making them takes some extra time. I took my newfound knowledge and waited patiently until two days to order just after they opened. I love the easy online ordering system and that there is an option for curbside pickup. Post ordering I was instructed to call when I was there to pick up and I offered to go inside but the woman working (she appeared to be an owner) said she could bring my order out to me which was so much appreciated. My Mysore Dosa was EXCELLENT and the coconut chutney accompaniment was delicious. If you do not know what a dosa is it’s essentially a very thin rice and lentil pancake that can be enjoyed as is or with a filling. The dosa itself got a little soft in the styrofoam packaging as it was hot and I imagine steamed up a bit in there but I did not really mind. The filling was flavorful and already in the dosa (it was not packaged/served separately like some places do). I greatly enjoyed every bite as it was so delectable and the homemade chutney was a nice but not necessary addition to enjoy the dosa.I also got a vegan lunch plate because “Why not?” to have for lunch tomorrow. I did have a few tastes of the meal and it was awesome. I love the lemon rice it comes with a the two curries as well as the vegetables served with it were flavorful. There is an addition of peanuts in the rice (at least I think they are peanuts) so if you have an allergy you want to be mindful of this. The vegan lunch meal comes with roti and the vegetarian lunch plate is served with naan. Please check out the India Cafe for great southern Indian style food. The style of food and offerings are a bit more unique than other Indian food I have had and I have had a variety. I will definitely return and look forward to doing so

We got the most outstanding lentil soup, delicious dosas and my husband had a chicken curry that he loved. This chef knows how to cook authentic Indian cuisine and we will be back.

the only bad thing about this restaurant is that they are closed on monday and do better with take out than dining in very small staff but its family owned and operated. the menu is huge,..the owner is like a kitchen god of cookery. he puts little personal touches in and his spice profile is exquisite,...example the lamb varutha curry is a difficult dish to perfect,...served in its own pot juicy & tender falling to pieces i could detect just the faintest anise so perfectly spiced the chef is a master it is a magical dish the portions are generous the appetizers are almost stand alone it is perfection. i would however take it home as they're so busy with orders they stuggle to be host and dedicated to flavour. very extensive menu. be attentive to spice levels their HOT is the only hot i was unable to handle medium and low spice available but they will customize sauces and if hot is too hot they fix it immediately and you can ask for the cooling yogurt sauce.... every thing is made in house to order nothing felt or tasted industrial i love looking at a dish and seeing the components of flavor a leaf or a seed or a sprig that says hey look at me i'm fresh and made with love and delicious. nothing else compares to this. hands down best indian food of my life time.

We just moved to Sarasota and we stumbled upon this place. Unfortunately, they were not open for dining in. We had kids with us, so they allowed us to order and wait. Brought it home and it was so much better than we expected. The kids LOVED the Chicken-65 and cauliflower appetizer. We will definitely be back and hopefully be able to dine in.

Glad I have a good option for Indian takeout in SRQ. Ordered online. Very easy and pickup was a breeze. Food was very good (veggie vindaloo and veggie korma) but the naan was tough. I'll use them again, for sure!

Friendly fast service. Family like home cooked meals. Lots of vegetarian options. Easy free parking in garage next to it or limited free curbside parking in front. My daughter's favorite Indian restaurant in Sarasota.

Got the vegan almond drink Badam Kheer drink with saffron and cardamom and its delish. I picked up some samosas and a vegan buffet box. The staff was super friendly and the place had a great authentic feel inside.

Really enjoy most of their dishes but there are a few which are ordinary. I love their lamb and chicken tiki masala. I may change my review once we can eat indoors as opposed to just take out which always affects the flavors by the time you get the food home. Sarasota is in dire need of more ethic restaurants especially Asian and Middle Eastern.

The food is delicious. We are vegan, ordered the samosas, aloo gobi and aloo vindaloo. So good.

The best Indian restaurant in Sarasota by far. I eat lunch regularly here.
