I've been addicted to pork ribs, especially St. Louis ribs, since I lived and worked in the St. Louis area in 1966-1968. So wherever we are, wherever we travel, I always look for a good barbecue restaurant. Ribs are ribs, whether they come from St. Louis or Memphis or Austin or Kansas City or Charleston. So you can imagine my feelings when we discovered Perry's Roadside BBQ in Sarasota, Florida. Located at 936 42nd Street, on Route 41, north of Sarasota Jungle Gardens, Perry's offers a rack of ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken and pulled chicken with a sweet, tangy sauce. Also baked beans, potato salad, corn bread, coleslaw and sweet potato pie. Open from 11 to 6 Thursday, Friday and Saturday only, Perry's offers a pleasant change of pace from the usual seafood fare. After considerable sampling, my wife and I finally decided that the best option for Perry's three-meat family meal that serves four to six but satisfies the two of us to a tee. It includes one rack or St. Louis ribs, four pieces of chicken, one pound of beef brisket, coleslaw, baked beans and potato salad. You'd be surprised how often there isn't anything left. Then, again, maybe you wouldn't be surprised.

Everything was so good! We got a ribs platter, brisket platter and pulled pork sandwich. Sides also excellent: potato salad, cole slaw, mac and cheese and the best collard greens! Baked beans had a strong molasses flavor. And the sweet potato pie was fantastic! Friendly ladies. Check opening hours, hopefully they will be open more days, but right now only THurs-Saturdays.

We discovered Perry's when we were following a Perry's van on Highway 41. As we were planning food for a wedding week, we thought it would be fun to try Perry's and we're so happy we did. Not only did it make it easy for at least one night of food during the wedding week, but now we have a new favorite place to get bbq. Best of all, we can get the food delivered by GrubHub. Highly recommend the beef brisket and the baked beans and cornbread. (I should add that you take out the food - I don't believe there are tables. You can also find the food at the Philippi farmers' market and the Lakewood Ranch farmers' market)

Perry's BBQ was not just good but GREAT. We picked up their three meat package with brisket, chicken and ribs with two sides. The BBQ sauce is as good as advertised. The meat was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The potato salad was home made and awesome. But it was the beans we all fell in love with. We've eaten BBQ in Sarasota before but Perry's is the best on all fronts. Great meat and great sides And the friendliness of the staff couldn't be better.

Don’t be put off or fooled by the location or the appearance!! The staff were amazing friendly! The inside is very clean and organized!! We stopped by for lunch and it was absolutely amazing!!!!! Service was excellent and fast! We got a brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich, with sides of Mac and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw. It was the best BBQ we’ve had in a long time!! I might have to stop back and get another meal and pick up some bottles of sauce!! The brisket was so tender that it just melted! The pulled pork was very moist!! Highly recommended!!!!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!

I've been living in Venice, Florida for 4 years and have diligently looked high and low for great BBQ and I have finally found the best BBQ joint in the world today. Perry's Roadside BBQ is located off of 42nd Street in Sarasota and it is well worth the trip for the richest, tenderest, fattiest, most flavorful Brisket and Tender smoked St Louis Ribs that I have ever had anywhere in the World Today. And here is the good news Perry's Roadside BBQ cooks it up fresh everyday and it show's! We're not talking reheats, or putting their left over Meats in the fridge and then grilling it to order no. These guys know how much to cook on any given day based on years and years of experience...nothing goes to waste and unlike most restaurants around here Perry's Roadside BBQ simply doesn't serve reheats (day old ribs) to their customers as a matter of principle. This place is without a doubt a jewel and the best kept secret around. Perry's Roadside BBQ serves up Smoked Meats at their finest and I would give them 10 stars if I could. Note: This is not a sit-down eatery. Perry's Road Side BBQ is an ole school roadside home converted into a smoke house kitchen and catering business, so please don't be put off when you turn right on 42nd street and pull up into the neighborhood, just walk right in. They are very nice people and they serve awesome food. I give Perry's my highest recommendation. Don't hesitate to call them in advance to make sure they have Brisket available, as they tend to sell out regularly!

When I’m in town I’m always trying to look for a great BBQ spot to eat at so when I googled it this was the first place that came up. The location is pretty easy to find it’s right off Tamiami Trail also when you pull up they have parking and you can’t miss the big BBQ smokers. So when you walk in the counters right there and you can see the kitchen outback everything is very clean inside and the service was great I also noticed they have their own BBQ sauce which was so good. When it comes to these places I have to Cavs the ribs mac & cheese collard greens cornbread that’s what I got at this place and the ribs were so delicious as the meat just fell right off the bone this is definitely a place worth traveling to.
