Food is a hit or miss sometimes fresh and good other times taste like its been sitting there and rice/ beans are dry and hard. Service is student based so basically just don't wanna be there attitude ?. Sat outside and was really noisy since its right off Gaines St. Which is really busy and has construction going on nearby currently.

Nice guac and chips. Tacos were a bit underwhelming.

I've had a really hard time finding food in this city I actually like, that changed today. The Iron Daisy had exactly the menu to satisfy my cravings. I had the Buffalo Fried Chicken Taco and it was amazing, I love good pickled red onion, and this taco had that, plus a tangy kick that was fun without being too much Buffalo. I also tried the chips and salsa which both seemed to be house made and were a great appetizer while we waited for the main course, my partner got the burrito which also was pretty darn good. The wait was a little long but the food quality was more than worth it. Will definitely be back.Parking: The parking lot only has about five spots

I just landed back in the united states from being in Mexico for the last week, and this place offers an even better vegetarian burrito than all of the Yucatán Peninsula. ¡Ay dios mio!Vegetarian options: Yuca fries. Beyond burger veggie burrito.

The Iron Daisy is really good. It may be a tad sketchy, but they offer decent service. I had their tasty fried chcken tacos, even though the sour cream was a bit much.

I was surprised that the place didn’t offer complementary chips and salsa. I’ve never been to a Mexican place that doesn’t. Chips and queso were amazing. We had the fried Mahi taco plate. The beans were dry and tasted weird. Maybe canned?? The rice had entirely too much seasoning on them. The fish was cooked well, but they had so much Parmesan cheese in the taco, that is all I could taste. Definitely not what I expected from the reviews I read. The floors are so slippery, I almost fell 4 or 5 times. I don’t think we will return.

This is a neat place in a convenient location. The service was excellent - I asked a few questions and each was answered with enough detail that satisfied me. My gripes with this place are (1) the food and (2) beverages. The food is decent enough on it's own. However, the price is not justified. I spent $10 on a "lunch special" that included two tacos and a small handful of chips. The tacos only came with one lemon, and the chips a bit soggy. As for the beverages, I wish there was more variety than about 5-6 soft drinks. I really think there is a missed opportunity there. Overall, I'd come back if invited or if with a crowd that really wanted to come here, but I will not be coming back on my own unless the quantity of food increases and/or a decrease in menu prices.

Spicy! The [chips and] queso was a nice intro with a stout hand-crafted ? ? Margarita; thanks to Jake, who you can meet most evenings. Our grilled chicken quesadillas and refried beans were zesty! Tumeric rice is offered. Please be aware of unlit areas nearby. Lunch specials offer smaller portions but include chips and salsa for $15. Enjoy!Parking: Unlit areas between buildings.

The food was great! Authentic Mexican! The place seemed like a dive but was clean and safe. Worth a stop for the food.

Good carnitas street tacos. Very casual. It's a good option if you're nearby. It's not bad, but nothing spectacular.

I walked over today from a comic book convention at the civic center and had two fried chicken and cotija cheese tacos -- one buffalo and one with sour cream and green chili sauce. Great flavor and a nice vibe indoors with Talking Heads, The Strokes and other great music playing. The El Yucateco green habanero hot sauce from bottles on the table is no color I've ever seen in nature but added a welcome bite to the food. I had chips with queso and guacamole because I was still hungry after two tacos but wasn't sold. This is a great little place not far from Gaines Street Pies that has covered outdoor tables and more tables out in the sun next to a garden.
