After reading the menu online we were stoked to come try this place. Everything sounded so fantastic and unique. Well, unfortunately it was a massive let down. We ordered a drink and got our food to go, because the atmosphere wasn’t really what we were looking for. Super loud rap music. Hard to talk. Not the end of the world. Once we got our food we walked to the park across the street to have a more peaceful meal. Everything we ordered was so dry you could barely swallow it. I ordered a duck taco and it tasted like shredded pork. Chorizo was a huge sausage link and had no chorizo flavor. The sesame steak was like beef jerky on a taco. Street corn was mushy. Overall a not great experience and the food was nothing like the descriptions. On top of that, we got charged and auto grat tip for a “walk out” when we paid our tab. They don’t even wait your table, you do it all yourself. So I got an auto grat added for a glass of water. Seems a little shady. We won’t be back.

We have eaten in several places in Hyde Park but this was our first time here. The service is basically non existent, our food came before our cocktails and not one person checked on us the entire time. We had to flag down various servers to request everything. The food (tuna poke rice bowl and 3 assorted tacos) were below average and the guacamole seemed not to be fresh and was extremely salty. Skip this place.

Love bartaco! Everything is usually great. But I wanna warn everyone about the tortilla soup. The broth is tomato soup not really flavorful at all, no onion cilantro garlic or cream flavor. And the chicken was rotisserie chicken cut up and put into the soup! It wasn’t really shredded it was chunky. And from the flavor you could tell the chicken was not cooked with the soup, just added after. Sorry bartaco ya’ll disappointed with that!

Excellent tacos here. I tried them all, the ribeye taco was great but the pork belly taco take the trophy ? here. Margaritas and Palomas are incredible here due to fact that they use fresh squeezed ingredients vs pre-made ones. Perfect location in the heart of Hyde Park

This is an open-air indoor eatery with the focal point being a beautiful bar in the middle. The place is super cute and calming. There are no TVs inside, which I think is so fun! You just go there to mingle and enjoy food and drinks. Went for happy hour on a Monday — it wasn’t packed and we got a seat at the bar. The kale Caesar was perfect. My one qualm is the happy hour menu shows food and drinks, but only the drinks are at a discounted price. Highly recommend this spot!
Good place overall. Great environment and friendly staff. The food was average.

The best family place a bar could be. We do Bar Taco on Saturday brunch after taking toddlers to the park -- and it's always full of other toddlers. Fun and noisy inside in the right kind of good way.
