I had the honor to be invited for dinner yesterday at the Mise en Place Restaurant .This is one of the best restaurants in tampa if you want to have a great and delicious meal.I had the pizza for appetizer followed by the Fried green tomatoes salad with salmon.Every bite was so delicious. The staff were courteous and very attentive to our need.Chef Marty is highly recommendedMise en Place restaurant needs to be on the number one place to eat when visiting tampa.

I gave 5 star to service and ambiance. But the vegan options are so limited and boring. You can do vegan fine dining, you know, but not in this restaurant.

Marty was the first local chef to open a gourmet chef:driven market & eatery but it was too early for Tampa. The two have been a positive force for local, small businesses, helping their employees grow their careers into other roles and likely far more positive things to recount here.

The food was bland and mediocre. They seem to not want to serve melanated people.

Food was tasty. AMmuse bouche was excellent green gaspacho. Luckily the tofu dish was not majorly oversalted as many veg dishes sadly tend to be.Attentive waitstaff. Not crowded, decent decor, feels like a sufficient date night except when you Walk in it feels like a furniture store.Long wine list. Huge dessert menu.Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian apps & one entree.

First time visiting and will definitely be the last. We ordered oysters, calamari, and the softshell crab for appetizers. For the main courses, seared scallops and the fresh fish, which was grouper. The oysters were awesome, but that's where we stop. Everything else was very bland, with little to no seasoning. The calamari had no flavor at all, and the sauce that it came with was not impressive either. The crab was mediocre as well, and again not much flavor. The scallops were pan seared, and again very underwhelming. Lastly the grouper. It was the dryest fish dinner I have ever had. I had to send it back. I told them it was terrible and I couldn't eat it. They did offer me another item from the menu, or another fish. I opted for another grouper. Bad choice. No flavor, moist this time, but the breading was just not very good. I left most of my dinner uneaten. The owner did come over and apologize as well as buy me a drink which was the least they could have done. When the only item that we enjoyed is delivered raw, a lot of work needs to be done for the food that is cooked.

Last night I had a reservation here for dinner for two. When I showed up, apparently there was a miscommunication in the system (between the restaurant and OpenTable) and they did not have the reservation on the books and they were completely booked for the night. Instead of telling us "too bad so sad" and sending us out the door and ruining our planned evening, they had us sit down in the side room and offered to get us a glass of wine and told us they would see what they could do. Within 5 minutes, they found us a seat at the bar to have our planned dinner. We had a lovely evening with fantastic food and great service. I will say that most places would probably not have handled it this way, but they went out of their way to accommodate us and make sure we had a terrific evening and it was much appreciated. Just for this reason alone, we will be back!

Good place to come for an intimate celebration or quiet date night. Ambience was understated, reserved. Quiet luxury vibes. The service was likewise high quality and present, not overbearing or simpering. Husband had two cocktails, the Haiku and a buffalo trace old fashioned. As to the Haiku he just kept saying "it's not bad... just odd." It was served in a small bowl of a dish rather than a cup, like one would sip ramen broth (the dish for which the drink is modeled and inspired). The old fashioned was a solid, good pour, stout without the burn, exactly what you hope for in a smooth bourbon drink. I had the Sober-Roni, and it was delightful. Actually tasted like what I wish all Negronis actually tasted like- I do wish there was a way to add dryness without alcohol but that's an ongoing search, and Mise en Place answered it well; 9/ 10 recommend. First thing, offered an amuse bouche of cold, seared endive. Bitter but well prepared and accompanied by a creamy blue cheese aioli. The combo was pleasant and the blue cheese offset the natural bitterness quite well. Next up, we ordered the Cobia Crudo. I did love this and the flavors were outstanding! The tostones were a little soft rather than crisp but otherwise a great start to the night. I also tried their squash and crab meat bisque. Smelled beautifully of curry and had a rich, spicy flavor that packed all the heat of a seafood bisque with none of the fishy flavor. Probably my favorite dish of the evening. For mains. I selected the venison loin. The meat was the star of this dish and cooked to juicy perfection. The hominy, however, had an unpleasant flavor that I unfortunately could not get past and did not enjoy at all. A complete shame. I thought it might be my palate since I am pregnant and that can change your taste (a weird but true side effect!), however, my husband said it wasn't to his preference either. Bitter and smoky and just a lingering... stale taste after that. I was disappointed but I don't know if it's just my palate being unrefined or if there was something off about the hominy. Either way not the fault of the restaurant, just not for us. My husband ordered the lamb chops with Amish cheddar chili grits and a cayenne buttermilk onion... donut (lol!) and it was fantastic. Those grits were creamy and perfect and the lamb was tender. He was extremely happy with his dish and I was jealous ha. Desserts: guava panna cotta and lemon ricotta cheesecake. Perfection on plates, we ate it all and scraped the plates clean. 10/10. Price tag under $300 for all. Overall it was a wonderful evening and dining experience. I would recommend trying Mise En Place, and we will likely return in the future for intimate evenings although it may be a while given my unfortunate luck with my main dish.

Great place for a fine dining experience. Went on Valentine's Day. Food & service were worth it. Plenty of parking available.

It's nice to see creative vegan options. The jerk tofu dish was fulfilling. The delicata squash was the best part. However, when I arrived the hostess wasn't welcoming. I asked to be seated for 1. She looked me up and down and suggested the bar. I insisted on dining at a table. She told me that they were booked until 8 pm for a table for 1. So I went along with the bar. As I waited to be seated I made a reservation for myself at 7:15 pm. I remembered checking to see if I needed to RSVP before arriving. They had so many slots available. I was seated at the bar. Luckily, there were a few guests that were engaging which made my dining experience pleasant. I just got the vibe that they didn't think I belonged in their establishment. As I left I noticed I received a text from her asking if was I still coming for my reservation. I responded, "I just left." I found it quite interesting how the empty restaurant was booked and they were desperate to know if my incognito self was still going to show up.

I've been to Mise En Place many times over the years. This particular visit was not up its usual excellence due to some food issues and service inconsistency. Our server, who I won't name here, was young and a bit inexperienced. They didn't know the details of some of the dishes and wines. While they were willing to get the answers, I'm used to very experienced...almost expert... wait staff at Mise. The shrimp appetizer was excellent, perfectly prepared and a depth of interesting flavors. The duck I ordered was not prepared to the temperature I requested (not even close) and I made the mistake of attempting to eat it rather than send it back, because I didn't want my meal to get significantly out of sync with my dinner companion. Our dessert was a S'more torte which had a nice toasted marshmallow flavor, but had a overly firm texture and was generally uninteresting. Our service was attentive during the first half of the meal, but we felt abandoned in the back half. Twice I had to flag down someone to help us. I hold Mise up to the highest of standards, because I've had some of my absolute BEST restaurant experiences there. All in all, this not a great experience for Mise... I've had much better experiences there and I will hope for better next time I go.

Came here for dinner conference had the salmon, it was fantastic the sauce the placed on the bed of vegetables was excellent. The service was ok can't expect much when you're doing a business dinner with 20 people there. The ambiance was ok not the greatest layout for some reason the seating and tables seemed off hard to explain. But the food was ok nothing out of this world the chocolate no flour cake was a little gritty wish I would have ordered the crème brûlée
