This pub style restaurant with a British theme is located in Venice, FL in a busy plaza that has lots of parking. The restaurant has a fun vibe to it with cardboard cut outs of the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III. There is also a train set that goes around a track above the tables. The service was quick and decent, and seating was comfortable. The reasons that I can only give 3 stars are as follows: 1. The price is too expensive for what you get. Lunch for two people (no alcoholic beverages) should not cost $70 before a tip. 2. The food is not authentically British (I'm from the UK originally). For example, in Britain fish and chips consists of a unitary piece of cod and hand cut chips that are fried. Here the fish was served in small pieces and the chips were frozen American steak fries. It's just not the same. If you're charging $23 for fish and chips then you really should hand cut and fry the chips. I did enjoy what I got, but there are other places that do fish and chips for much less at a similar quality.

First-time diners. My wife had the french dip, two of us had fish and chips, and one had the chicken tenders and chips. Everyone was pleased with their food. Our server did a good job. My only suggestion is to not have tables so close together. When people were seated next to us, there was no separation.

Good food and service with a nice ambiance. We both had the vegetarian Reuben which was excellent. The cinnamon caramel crisp was also wonderful. If we are in the area again, we will be back for the same meal.

If you English this review is for you. To start the waitress was fantastic. We got cod and chips, bangers and mash, scotch eggs and onion rings with mushrooms. The fish and chips were not bad, chips and fish were greasy like the fryer wasn’t hot enough or not cooked long enough. The (real) bangers and mash were perfect, the brown gravy perfection. Scotch eggs are 90% there, the batter is not right again greasy and not a bread (panko) like consistency. Onion rings and mushrooms were good. Here comes the issue. We returned for breakfast. Had to try the full English !!! It was complete garbage. The bacon was as thick as paper and rubbery. The baked beans were bbq style. The tomato’s were sliced which was strange. Eggs were cooked to perfection. I’m a true Brit and didn’t have high expectations. The server was correct they are pretty close to authentic, but the cost !! It was insane $70 for two breakfast and a couple sausage rolls. The sausage rolls were a complete fail !! Over the years I’ve perfected the art of cooking English food my sausage rolls put this place to shame. So to sum it up, if your excited you finally found a true full English breakfast don’t bother. Want some awesome bangers and mash this is your place. Want some cod and chips meh its about the same as Culver’s. Want a great environment with nice wait staff this is it. But be ready to drop a few bob as it isn’t cheap !!

Long time Sarasota County resident and now five years in Venice. This was our first time at British Open Pub. Like the atmosphere. Especially around the bar. Dark and cozy. Beer selection good. We were taken aback by the pricing however. Wow! Pretty much across the board. Not sure if the burger was fresh or frozen, but felt it was frozen. Said it was a brisket, chuck mix, but was kind of a burger that didn't separate itself from anyone else's. Burger was a flat 7.0 of 10. Brioche bun kind of dry (which is contrary to that bun style). Fries good. But, $19 for a basic burger. Seriously? Fish and chips $23, and most other sandwiches a good 20-25% higher than anywhere else in the area? Even at Prime Steakhouse in Venice, the best burger I've had in all of SRQ county, it is $16. Due to pricing alone, this was a bad first impression. I'd like to say that we'll be back for just a drink and appetizer, but their pricing is just out of line with literally all the competition. Too much competition. Sorry, I can't see returning.

We went there today and were seated outside.Empty tables on both sides of us. No response from anyone to get a drink or order food. Then both tables by us had customers sit down and were waited on without anyone talking to us. We left. One and done.

Completely ignored. Got there at 1:45 on St Paddy's day to have a late lunch. Plenty of open tables. We were seated on the patio. Waited and waited for a server.... The 2 tables ( on either side of us) were then seated. The server took the order of the table on our right, walk by us, took the order of the table on our left, then walk by us again and went inside! We will eat elsewhere

Jordin was a great attentive server who knew what to suggest. Fantastic food (corned beef and cabbage) only better service. No conversations in the nearly full pub. Everyone was enjoying their food. This will be a regular spot for me.
