Waitress was attentive. Food was ok. We had breakfast. There is no sign outside so it was difficult to find it. Looks shabby from the outside, inside is clean.

Teeny tiny Wauchula is a beautiful city with about 5000 folks. It is rural, agricultural Central Florida at its best! It has several privately owned restaurants that are solid, and this is one of them. I love a good breakfast so off I went! Arriving- These fine folks are on the outskirts of the city on Route 17 South. They are super easy to find. Depending on which way you come in, you'll be driving by citrus groves, cucumber fields and cattle ranches. If you're really lucky, you might see a bear! They are in a dilapidated plaza with no presence at all, but parking is plentiful and easy. Pro Tip- Route 17 might freak you out a little. It's a divided highway but it's divided by 1000 feet of homes and businesses! Often you can't see the other lanes! Atmosphere- There is none. It's an old building with old fixtures and furniture. There are many booths with hard, uncomfortable wooden seats with no padding. Can you say, "Butt ache!" Pro Tip- CASH ONLY so come prepared! Customer Service- Excellent! My server had worked there for 8 years and was a pro and it showed! Food- Stand southern, American menu with no surprises. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet with potatoes plus coffee. It cost me $12.80 pre-tip. The coffee was hot and good. The potatoes were piping hot and not greasy. The omelet had plenty of fillings, but they were all packed in the middle with empty ends and that annoys me a little. However, it was very good, and the overall breakfast was solid. This is a hard one to rate for me. It probably should be 3.5. There are plenty of places nearby with a better atmosphere and equally solid food. I'm going with four stars because of the stellar service. Just remember to bring a pillow for your butt!

In a nutshell, when I tried to explain that my food was not done and that I had been sitting there waiting, I was basically told it was my fault and that I could’ve tracked her down to let her know, “Well, I guess you didn’t try very hard!” Second most rude encounter with someone in the service industry and when I called to speak to one of the owners, I was basically told that it is what it is, that server has a mouth and there’s nothing ownership can do about it. Extremely POOR establishment. This is the type of place you need a zero star option for.

It's a hole in the wall, family type place. The outside of the building looks like a motel office. It's next door to Alan Jay car dealership on the Left, up on a hill.Service was excellent. Lots of locals keeps this place hopping. Good food for a great price. Not too over the top in price. Their biscuits are big, so good and fresh. Eggs are made to order and I ordered the French toast without maple syrup and used whipped cream instead.Vegetarian options: Just askParking: Lots of spaces on the hill and out backWheelchair accessibility: First floor just roll up

In town for Hurricane Ian recovery efforts and stopped in at Double J restaurant just before 10 am on Monday. We were immediately greeted by our server and the owner herself, Judie, came over to set up this trip for success. In a small town like Wauchula, everyone knows everyone and everyone's a regular so she knew instantly we were from out of town and made sure we felt welcome with hugs and stories and great food. We loved her and the food so much that we went back today and all ordered the exact same meal. I'll be dreaming about these perfect hotcakes and French toast for years to come! Great prices, great company, and great food. What more can you ask for? P.S. this is a cash only business so be prepared!
