Wonderful introduction to Cuban food! Everything was delicious, filling, and affordable. The Cuban bread brought to our table and appetizer empanadas were fresh and very tasty. I ordered the vaca frita with arroz amarillo, frijoles, and tostones, and I would recommend all of it. The green garlic sauce that came with the meal was so flavorful! The guests I came with also enjoyed their meals, especially the Cuban sandwich. The server was helpful.

Recommended dishes: Empanadas, Vaca Frita, Pan

DO NOT DINE HERE!! If you’re planning to have a birthday gathering with a group of people or other celebration here, you should reconsider! I came here with Store bought Cake & Ice Cream for my Mothers Birthday Dinner. As well as my Aunt brought a Cake she made, with our own disposable utensils and plates. Not once were we told that there would be a separate individual charge for “Outside Cake” ($2.50-$5.00) PER PERSON! That policy is ridiculous, especially charging everyone on there bill and not even knowing who had cake or not. Then my aunt and I are being charged for the cakes we brought. THIS ”RIDICULOUS CHARGE” IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE MENTIONED WHEN PEOPLE CALL TO MAKE BIRTHDAY RESERVATIONS AND/OR COME IN WITH OUTSIDE CAKES & DESSERTS NOT FOUNDING OUT WHEN READING TO PAY THE BILL! I will never come dine to this Don Ramon location as well as the 30+ people that came the night of 3/18/24 for a Birthday Celebration. We had to argue and go back and fourth in order to get this *charge removed from everyone’s bill, that the restaurant was charging each person $2.50-$5.00 for “Outside Cake”! And to top it off the 2.5 hours being there, only one or 2 tables out 5 received bread, we had to ask for bread. Which never had to ask for bread from Server in past experiences that is something that is served to every table. The MANAGER was extremely horrible, she made an excuse for everything and said we’re complaining so we can get Freebies. WORST EXPERIENCE in the 20 years coming here!

Now i know why I stop going to this location this being my 2nd time not by choice because i been going to the one on Military trail for over 25 years. My cousin has been going to this one for over 35 years but because it was her birthday well i joined them their about 35 family members. To start when i sat down they never offered bread or water i dont think they could handle the volume because we had a big party. So when i ordered my drink it had to much salt horrible. Then I ordered my dish ropa vieja the rice amount was good for a 5 year old more beans and ropa vieja with very little rice and cold i think they were stretching the rice because it happened to my husband and several family members their customer service was horrible they were short staff for sure and attitude problems then to put the icing on the cake they had the ordasity to charge us for cake we didn't eat never again will i be back i will continue going to the one on Military trail for sure ? ??

I had a birthday reservation for 30-35 people on Monday 3/18 and 32 people showed up. They put us in the back and seated us between 2 rooms. We were separated for a dinner party. I picked this restaurant because it’s 1 of the 1st restaurants I went to at 14 years old. 30+ years. Big disappointment!!! We all ordered drinks and appetizers. Right before our dinners came out, I noticed a table of 4 that had bread. I asked why we didn’t get any bread and the server said it was because people throw away the bread, and don’t always eat it and we had to ask for it. This is a service always given, but no one was offered. 32 people, and not 1 server offered. How would most of my party know if there was any bread if we weren't offered any. Although my food was tasty, the portion of the chicken was cut to 1/2 and the amount of rice served was a joke, a very small joke. There were 12 different checks, and some people were bothered about getting charged for cake they couldn’t eat due to some being diabetic and some allergic to coconut. We brought our own plates and forks, so the restaurant did not have to wash our dessert plates. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that, there wasn’t a manager there. Before I left, I asked about what the manager said, and the male waiter said he called her, and she hung up the phone on him. WOWWW! I called the next day, and a worker answered the phone, with just a Hello! I didn’t know who I was calling until I asked if it was Don Ramon’s I was calling. She said yes. Ok. I asked to speak to a manager, and was told there was no manager until the next day. Now it’s Wednesday and I call again and ask to speak to a manager. She said, speaking. I told her about my experience and she said she knew, and that she called back the workers on that Monday and I had already left. I was there until closing, while the waiter sat on the table staring at us and rushing us to leave. She said that I asked her for the back of the room. I told her that I did not ask for that, then she said that’s what 1 of her workers told her. She did apologize for everything, but was very argumentative and hostile about everything I told her, as if I was the problem and not any of her unprofessional workers. Mind you, she admitted to knowing about everything, but she had an excuse for all the wrong doing. I was told by a few about their bad experience, but I insisted on going, and they all went anyways because it was my birthday. I was never asked if there was anything she could do to fix or make us happy, but she did say she felt I was complaining for some freebies… I had 32 paying customers, some of which have been going there for about 35 years… Wow, just WOWWWW!!! ???

First time at Don Ramon. Great place and atmosphere. Every plate comes with 3 sides. Only thing is the drinks are very watered down.

I had came here on a Friday night. They had live music going on very low-key at the same time. The food was beyond delicious here. You really cannot go wrong with the Cuban food here at all. I would definitely come back again!!
