Tried it for the first time, was just ok not worth what I spent on the sandwich. Hardly any meat, lettuce or tomatoes- thrown in a tin foil sloppy nothing with sandwich to make it worth spending what I did - and wrong bread. Tasted ok. Place was not very welcoming either.

We ate here today for the first time at lunchtime. The place looks worn down and there’s clutter everywhere. The lady at the register wasn’t the friendliest. The food itself was good but not worth the $45 bucks we paid for it. If you eat here i recommend taking it Togo to cut down on having to get drinks and chips which should be included in the price you pay for the sandwich itself. I will stick with a Publix Sub or Jersey Mike’s over a place like this.

like alllll the other reviews that hallets hot sandwich is too die for! really a terrific lunch spot!! i would come back in a second. so fresh so delicious, the bread here is so fresh! like taking a step back in time the decor and tables very 1950s. don't miss this.

This place has been an institution in Winter Haven all of my life. I go at least once a week and have been for 40 years. It humors me to read poor reviews because they all have it wrong. Maybe they weren't "nice" to you. Too bad. Maybe they delivered your food without "bells, whistles and cheery demeanor". Too bad. Maybe you thought it wasn't good or didn't have enough flavor. Too bad. Parking is not to your liking? Too bad. It never stopped anyone before. You know what rhymes with "too bad"? TOO BAD RHYMES WITH TOO BAD In my opinion the place is great. I send people there every working day from my office. For 20 years all I ever had was the Hollywood with Italian Salad. Then for 10 years it was the Hallets Hot Lunch (their best samich in my opinion) but now am addicted to the Steak and Cheese with Peppers and Onions. WOW. They have an incredible pasta salad too. And the meatball sub is made with hand made meatballs and unique marinara sauce. The Liverwurst is a favorite of mine with lettuce, mayo, white onion and mustard. They slice it thick. The Meat and Cheese Salad is my "skinny food" favorite. In fact, I'm going there today for a hot Reuban on a sub roll (usually on rye bread). They haven't changed a thing in two hundred years and that's what their patrons want. We go there knowing it's going to be the same thing every time: DELICIOUS. All you crybaby's can stay away. It just allows us regulars to not have to wait behind you. If you've never been and are interested, consider why I am writing this. It's because I KNOW. I and legions of regulars KNOW. You wanna know? Well, there's only one way and that is to go. If you choose not to go that's okay. But then you must recognize you are someone who ACTIVELY denies himself pleasure. And since you only live once, WHY would you ACTIVELY deny yourself pleasure? Go on, get in the car and go gitcha a Hallet's. It won't hurt. In fact, it cures all of your ills instantly. All of them. From head to toe.

Was not expecting it to be so mediocre. The bread was stale, meat was subpar, and cheese had no flavor. Extremely disappointed in both the food and establishment itself. Now I know why at noon it was so empty. We were literally the only patrons.

Called in an order with a couple of sandwiches and people wanted to know what their prices were so they could give me the money to take, when asking for the prices of sandwiches whoever took my order was rude and sounded like I was inconveniencing him for asking for prices. Go to the place to pick up the order and the woman who was at the register was completely rude as well. I truly will not spend my money here anymore because that’s not how you treat paying customers. Sandwiches are really good but their customer service truly sucks. Seems like you need to be a regular there or not order lots of sandwiches at one time to get good service.
