I was very hopeful, seeing the reviews of this place, but when we went here to eat, it was utterly disappointing. We ordered the fried pimento cheese, the heirloom & beet salad, the gumbo and the turkey club. The only decent thing we had was the fried pimento cheese. The gumbo had pretty much no flavor and there were probably 2 pieces of sausage in it. The chicken in the gumbo was in cubes. It looked like, and tasted like they got this out of a can from progresso. The turkey club was a joke. It was literally just a basic sandwich that they toasted the bread and threw some bacon onto. The turkey was not deli sliced, it looked like the fake stuff from oscar mayer. There was no middle piece of bread either. It was thin and flat. The fries that came with it were good. As for the heirloom tomato salad. If you know anything about heirloom tomatoes, you know they are multi-colored, usually large and oddly shaped compared to regular tomatoes. I love heirloom tomatoes, so we got the salad. The tomatoes on this salad were definitely not what anyone would consider heirloom. They were small, tri-colored grape tomatoes cut in half. Dont get me wrong, I like those tomatoes too, I buy them all of the time at the grocery store, but they do not call them heirloom, so do not advertise these as heirloom. The dressing with the salad was way too sweet. When we told the server we did not like the salad because they were not actual heirloom tomatoes and the dressing was too sweet, she argued with us and told us that she would bring out the box to show us that they did say they were heirloom. That almost makes me think that they have had other people say the same thing. Well, even if they found some knock off heirloom tomatoes, that is not what people think when they see it on a menu. So much of this menu tasted like it came from a box or a can. If this was a cheap little cafe somewhere, I would expect this kind of food, but for the prices they charge here, I expect much more. So disappointing. Maybe their brunch is good? Maybe they have good drinks? Their food, however, leaves much to be desired, especially for the prices they charge.

I've always loved the pimento cheese with the breads & spreads, but this last time I tried the fried pimento cheese appetizers and OMG... this is one item you must try! I also love the gumbo, which isn't served at many restaurants here and it's as good as New Orleans.

Made reservations for a Friday night around 7:00. Surprisingly was not busy at all. Food and service were perfect. Definitely recommend the fried green tomatoes. Sadly, I cannot remember the name of our server. Hope it’s not too weird, but another couple took a picture of her. If she’s your server expect very attentive service.

Pretty good. A lot of Americana type food here. It was nice for an impromptu happy hour. The food was lacking a bit of spice for me, but decent overall. Would stop in for happy hour if I'm in the area.

Good food. If you get the shaved prime rib sammy, go easy on the au jus. Extremely salty. The truffle fries are delightful and everything I want from truffle fries. The unsweet tea is perfectly brewed, not burnt.

The staff are cheerful, and there is a set of regulars that give an enjoyable sense of community to the place; my gripes, however, are that service is slow and that the food and drinks are overpriced.I've eaten at GPH many times since it replaced Senor Tequila's more than ten years ago, and I'd reckon that they haven't updated, or even reprinted, the menus in that time, which are printed on warped and worn glossy paper that is sticky to the touch.I ordered the shrimp & grits, which was well-made and tasty, but at $24 is expensive for the small portion and inconsistent size of the shrimp (some were large, some were were much smaller). Pints of beer are about $10 each.If this were my first experience at GPH, I would have given three stars; since things haven't improved over the course of ten years, however, my rating of two stars reflects how I view GPH when considering other options.

The first thing we noted was that the sign said wait for hostess to seat you, and there was no hostess. However, we were within eyeshot of the bar, where two male employees were working. One looked up from whatever work he was doing on one of the tables and then promptly went back to what he was doing. After about five minutes, an overworked young woman named Briana told us she would seat us, but she had to first bus the table and wipe it before she could do that. Once we got seated and got our drinks, she stopped back and asked if we wanted appetizers, which we hadn't decided on, so she said she would come back.It was a lonnng time before we saw her again, as she was clearly the only server for the entire dining room and was expected to be doing busgirl and hostess services as well. When she finally returned, we ordered the main course, because we felt the wait would be interminable if we added appetizers to the equation. Meanwhile, the guy from behind the bar seemed to want to come out and serve some other tables, shouting (in a friendly manner) his gratuitous comments to the diners. Our meals eventually arrived. My so-called shaved ribeye (their version of a Philly Chesesteak cross-bred with a French dip) was just a-ight. No great shakes, but serviceable. The French fries tasted a bit like the frylator oil had been around for a while. My wife's Steak Frite was overcooked. She asked for medium rare but got medium well. The kitchen is probably understaffed, too. Ordinarily, we would send something that grossly botched back, but we didn't want to take our chances with what would be a potentially long wait.Get that poor girl some help and cook food as ordered. With the preponderance of restaurants available in this area, I do not think we'll be returning to this one.

Wonderful all around for a Sunday brunch! The Odd Bird (buffalo chix sandwich), and any of the benedicts are a must! They also have Capt. Crunch French Toast for the ones with a sweet tooth, and of course Chicken and Waffles. We will definitely be back!Dietary restrictions: Plenty of Gluten Free options for my wife who is celiac. Loved every bite of it!

The food and service here are excellent. Anything that mentions house made cheese is to die for. The pub burger was the best sandwich I've had in a while. 100% recommended.

Solid place. Very good menu. Not the ordinary same ole offerings. One issue was no audible music. Kind of kills the atmosphere. I don’t understand why managers don’t get that. Also the club sandwich looked like cheap sliced deli meat. Very disappointing. Gumbo was great. Goat cheese bruschetta was very good. Definitely worth a visit.
