The Merry Acres Restaurant is no longer open. It might be available for events, I'm not sure, but not for the hotel breakfast. From what I could gather, many Albany businesses suffered losses from the tornado of 2017. They were just starting to recover when COVID hit in 2020 and that pretty much knocked the wind out of them. The good news is that the hotel and pub are still open and welcoming, and there is a complimentary breakfast available with basic fare such as coffee, juice, yogurt, fruit, cereal, milk, microwavable sausage biscuits, bagles, and danish.

It's dated but I guess if that's your thing, it adds to the charm. The people are very friendly. The location give you easy access to everything, (food, shopping, gas, etc.)

I called to let them know that I would be late. Arrived at 12am. I wasn't allowed to check in until almost 1am. They were extremely rude about it. Front staff seemed racist as she didn't allow me to wait in the Lobby. She said I need to wait outside; proceeded to lock the door in my face! However, she did allow a caucasian male in. It was myself and another AA male, who by the way was getting married the next day. They refused him his room because it was in his wife to be name. She had to leave her celebration to come show her ID! I will NEVER stay here again and I don't recommend any person of color to stay as well. My daughter's father was there at the same time. They gave him a smaller room for the same price due to a faulty AC unit.

Good place if you don't have to go to work the next day. There are 40+ people (without masks) having I think a wedding party? with a live band right now around the pool. It's Wednesday night, 9:23pm... If I didn't have to get up at 5am to go try and keep people alive in the Covid ICU tomorrow morning I would be into it. Just seems like a poor choice on several levels.
