I love creature comforts but they are losing a star because they let coffee shop culture take over their tap room.Let me explain. When you have a 40 ft long bar with 3 servers you don't need everyone standunt in a single file line. The whole point of having a bar is so patrons can saddle up, hold down a space and pay for preferential treatment. (Likewise they can be ignored for poor tips.) I expect to lean on the bar, enjoy my beer and overtip the bartender so I don't have to stand in a ridiculous line for another beer. This behavior started when coffee shops started serving alcohol and people forgot how to behave. (See Walkers and Hendershots.)They lose another star for allowing samples at the bar that hold up the entire line. They clearly sell "flights" so why in the world do they let people get free samples at the bar? Noone wants to wait on a frat boy to pretend he's some kind of beer connoisseur when his intent is obviously to spend more time chatting up the cute bartender. (Kids don't even know how to flirt in person these days so the resulting display is rather pathetic.) The end result is slower service and fewer pours. Creature is actually losing money because of it and it diminishes the experience of the actual adults in the room. The line moves so slowly there is plenty of time for people to Google every beer and style listed to determine if they would possibly like the beer in the first place. They should establish a separate line for people who don't know what they want or require them to watch a short video explaining (in non beer nerd terms) what they should expect from the styles represented. This could be accomplished with a qr code that links to the video. Let's not waste any more pour time.

Breweries are no longer uncommon, especially in lively and nuanced towns like Athens. So, to shine, breweries must have remarkable beer and a unique vibe. With a broad selection of high quality beer, dim lighting, and droning music, Creature Comforts checks all of these boxes. Being from out of town, I stumbled upon this place by asking a random student of UGA which brewery would be considered the ‘can’t miss’ spot in Athens. Without hesitation, he said Creature Comforts. Clearly, the students here have exceptional taste.

You really just can't go wrong with Creature Comforts. Delicious beer selection and for my fellow sour lovers they have an awesome selection to choose from. Awesome vibes inside and out with a ton of seating for those busier weekend days. Sometimes they have bands performing outside as well as food trucks. I come here at least once a week because I can't stay away. Highly recommended.

I have always had really good service, and really good drinks here. Love sitting outside under the heat lamps. Always have to take a case to go.

Nice brewery with a bunch of beers of all styles on tap. I tried two flights, and they were all good.

Too many good beers to list but this place is worth a visit. Lots of seating, indoors and outside. We went on a night they had a farmers market too. It feels like a place you must visit if you're in the Athens area.

If there's a better brewery in Georgia, I don't know about it. Came from Texas and made sure I stopped by to pay them a visit.
