Athens classic, and now that the GA Bar is no more, The Roadhose is still holding down from the old days before the students go so smart and the music scene crumbled

Food was great, the waitress was great but the computer @ the table over charged us $45 . We informed the assistant manager Avery & she said nothing could be done about it but would fix it by 1am tonight. This lady was very rude & would not bring the Manager over to assist in the overcharge. Warning !! Be careful using the computer at your table to pay. If the mistake is not fixed, we willDispute the charge with American Express.

The Road House is a quite excellent roomy dive bar located in downtown Athens. It has a split personality. During the day, it's mostly grown up townies and the occasional grown up tourist like me. At night, especially late night, it's PACKED with UGA kids, which it was when I ventured there on my first night in town on a Monday night after navigating the Atlanta airport and the long drive to Athens in a rental from there. The bartender on duty when I went during the day was great. She was friendly and knows her craft. Bartending is a lot more than pouring drinks. I will go so far as to say the pouring and making of drinks is almost incidental to the craft, which means maintaining a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere that makes people want to come back all while pouring and making drinks, running tabs, ringing up orders, handling old schoolers like me who pay and tip in cash as they go, washing glasses, and so forth. The prices are more than reasonable. For instance, during happy hour (2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.) my usual order of a Makers rocks and a good beer was $10.50. Off happy hour it would be $12.50, which is still more than reasonable in my experience.I will certainly stop in again when I return to Athens next year.Cheers!

It’s a must! Stopped in while visiting daughter at UGA. She stayed out with friends and we stopped in on way back. Great live music, awesome bartenders, classic dive bar feel and wide range of ages!!! Wish we had more places like this up North!

Katie was a great bartender! Loved the dive bar feel. As "old folks" in down town Athens, we felt right at home!! We'll be back!

oh holy Mary mother of God this is the best bar in Athens. but beware, if you're causing a scene and being dramatic theyll kick you the hell out. was just there the other day and two idiots were loudly discussing politics until the bartender loudly demanded they cease this activity. and then like typical whiny Athenians they started to plead their case and were shut down again with a little jab about how cheap they tip. LOL I was dying!! great music selection and they let you bring the pizza in from next door! always have the game on and it's nice and cool and dark in the summer

The beer is cheap and cold, the atmosphere is spectacular and this is the home to some of the finest crochet work in all the land. I make a stop here everytime I pass through town.
