We've gone to the basement of the route several times and it's always pretty quiet. They do some specials with wings and other food items and it's delicious. I don't want to blow them up too much because it's nice to be able to go in there and get good service and quick service and good food without too many crowd. Their staff is awesome. Their bartenders know what they're talking about. They got a great collection of scotch, whiskeys and beers and it's pretty spacious inside. The only drawback to this place really is Parking but if you get creative, it's pretty good. Looking forward to more events thereand going back again to see some friends and grab a drink and they're wonderful staff.

Hidden gem in Five Points with an incredible whiskey selection and unassuming food. Extremely fair prices with great service. A mix of locals and students found here on the weekends. Pool tables, golden tee, and skeet ball for the bonus. A must for the bourbon lover.
Parking was miserable. Beyond that, everything was good. It was a private rental.

The selection of bourbons needs to be seen to be believed. I've never seen one place have every offering of Pappy Van Winkle from the 10 to the 23. This place is unbelievable somewhere you need to experience to believe and they have made a lifetime member today. The service is friendly and experienced. The food menu is as amazing as the drink menu. The Root has the three things that make it an awesome place you want to bring all the people you want to impress great selection of spirits great service and great food thank you so much to Parker for the amazing service we received today she's one of the many reasons that make the ambiance so laid back and inviting.

I had quite an unusual experience here this evening. I ordered the Old Fashioned, pictured before I took a sip. I asked the bartender if this was a typical serving size as this really looked like a shot, not a drink. She said that it needed more ice!, but yes, this was the 2oz pour that they offered.I then believe she saw me taking a picture of the empty well bourbon bottle, she then appeared with what I think was bourbon and water telling me that the original drink was short but she did not want to embarrass whomever had made the original drink. I was a bit confused as to what "normal" is supposed to be here. Probably best to stick to beer here($1.85 Miller High Life). The wine list upstairs was decent, downstairs was lacking.The bartender was trying her best, but lots of opportunities here for the management to address, support and train the staff.

Drinks were good, but a bit pricey for the area/availability. The bar was crowded so it was quite hard to order drinks with only two bartenders focusing on the bar itself, not those seated elsewhere. Would appreciate more seating. Enjoyable atmosphere.
Great venue for live music and grabbing a drink with friends. Pool tables in the back.
