Went because saw the great Google Reviews and was visiting town and staying in the Westin across the street. Pretty terrible value in my opinion, coming from Boston. $83 and still full. Portions were tiny for the price (besides the chips, which admittedly were cheap). Had the steak, which was small with no sides. Thought to balance it off with a salad to be healthy, but it was the greasiest salad I've had in a while, despite having traveled through Oklahoma and Kentucky just earlier this week. I never knew a salad could taste so unhealthy. Service was ok and vibe was nothing special (the outside sitting wasn't available).I usually only give 5 star reviews but I'm sorry this restaurant's reviews were wildly over-hyped in my opinion so I thought to give some feedback. Maybe Atlanta just doesn't have good options for Mexican food?

chicken was dry and disgusting. waiter tried his best but did not make up for the nasty food that we received. he was sincere and polite but prices were through the roof. all our food was barely the size of an appetizer, except for the salads that were large but barely had any dressing. typical cheap restaurant behavior.??? tacos tasted like rubber, and two tiny ones for 13 dollars. service was great but food was absolutely horrid and undeserving of my hard earned money. would like to apologize to any customers that have had the misfortune to step foot in this place. writing this to warn others from visiting.

Disgusting food. Our waiter was very sweet and honest… but these prices! ? unbelievable!! No way I just paid 23 whole DOLLARS for the driest most disgusting chicken I’ve ever put into my mouth. ??? special shout-out to my waiter tho! Very very sweet! Thank you so much to the gentleman with the beard, thanks! But this food ? UGHH! 19 for 3 shrimp is outrageous.. now forget the prices. THE. FOOD. SUCKS.

My partner and I work as chefs in NC and came down to atl for a vacation. This place is so good we haven’t even left yet and have agreed to take the 4 hour drive back here again just to eat! The empanadas melt in your mouth, the prawn are insanely good and fresh, and the confit lamb tacos are so perfectly balanced with the flavors of the toppings. Not to mention the cocktails were amazing. We were lucky to be squeezed in without a reservation, our server was Shelby, who was anlso clearly running the bar and she absolutely KILLED it. For someone doing that much work she was amazingly attentive and personable. 10/10 service from Shelby, 10/10 food. Will be back for more no matter how long the drive is!

I don't understand how a restaurant can have reservations available on open table but if you walk up before reservation time you can't get a table. Poor service to say the least.

The restaurant is very dark. But the furnishings are very stylish. The service is quite nice, but they charge a flat rate of 20% for groups of six or more. I think that's a lot. The problem for us was that a lot of food was no longer available. Hence the service deduction. It wasn't the service but the kitchen. I don't understand how such a big restaurant can't have enough food available. He even ran out of cocktails. The food tasted pretty good, but Mexican food isn't the best in my opinion. I would rather always go somewhere else.

Our group of 4 adults wandered into this restaurant looking for a happy hour drink and a snack at 3:15 pm on March 14. We were greeted by a waiter that was cold and disinterested. We asked for nachos and he responded with disdain that they did not serve nachos. After looking at the sparse happy hour menu we ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. Our tiny drinks arrived (mostly ice)along with our warm beers! We waited quite awhile for our food and received 6 large round chips with our dips. Food was ok, service was terrible. Would not recommend this restaurant.

The fried cheese is amazing! The more it melts the better it is. But as a warning, it will burn your tongue if you are impatient... I burnt my tongue. The margs are great as well as the guac to and salsa. The churro dessert ice cream sandwich you can pass on but dannnng. This place is yummy!

Last night Josh was amazing at hosting our table! We had a few small plates and 1/2 chicken mole to share! We started with the traditional salas. Small Plates we had Prawns Diabla, Steak, Chorizo Croquettes, Spicy Chicken Empanadas and Agua Fresca! The atmosphere was light, there was a bathroom that had some cleaning need to be done so staff could be a bit more attentive.

Went here with coworkers during a conference. The place is a really cool, but small atmosphere. We made a reservation and were seated a few minutes after our reserved time, but this is a busy and fun place so we didn't mind. We were able to get drinks at the bar while we waited. We all got the classic Margaritas, which were fabulous. Our hostess and servers were super nice and took good care of us. We shared the Guacamole and Salsa Tasting and the Fried Chihuahua Cheese. Everything was so good! Their chips are big and tasty! And that fried cheese was definitely a hit that everyone enjoyed. I choose a small plate for dinner, the Prawns Al Ajilla. Shrimp drowned in olive oil and garlic. They were really good too! Overall a great experience.

I have had several good experiences at alma cocina prior to this most recent visit. But most recently, The service was not great. Our server didn’t seem to know what was available and came back to our table two times telling us that things we ordered were “out”. We had drinks and entire plates ordered forgotten about. Our server was apologetic but then wasn’t able or couldn’t adjust the experience. When we did get our food - 2 Baja tacos it was so dry. And upon finishing the meal and deciding I was just going to let it go our server commented on how I “scraped my plate in a hurry” . Best practice- don’t comment on women eating food. Never mind any of the reasons that I was really hungry and had already decided to look over the shortcomings. It was so off putting I feel like it deserves to be noted.

We are in for a teacher convention at The Ron Clark Academy and decided to stick close to our hotel, The Windham. We shared the baha fish tacos (AMAZING), fried cheese (HAVE MERCY ?), and for desert, we had the ice cream sandwich (DELISH!)! I had the blood orange margarita. It was sweet, tangy, and just the right hint of alcohol. Our waitress's name was Shelby and she was absolutely adorable. We will definitely come again and highly recommend!! ❤️

Food was amazing. I loved the unique options like the guacamole and salsa sampler which was delicious all around. Service was also great and the patio in the hotel lobby has a great ambiance.
