I really enjoy eating in and taking food to go from Bahel. This restaurant is truly an Atlanta gem. I love getting the vegetable plate with spicy lamb tibs. Cusotmer service is always amazing. Also, I love the design and layout of the restaurant. Very beautiful and classy.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are amazing, fresh and flavorful.

All around, best Ethiopian food I’ve eaten. For me, it beats Desta and Embilta on taste without question. And there’s a little store at the back!Get the Bahel Kitfo (raw). You won’t regret it.

11.21.2023: Bummer, I went back tonight, but there must have been a different cook. the red lentils were crunchy (undercooked) and there was excess oil in the vegetables. Hoping for consistency moving forward. Upgraded rating to reflect the average - 3 stars.11.19.2023: I decided to give Bahel another try. Upon arrival, I was so happy to find a few friends working there! I shared with them that I was giving the restaurant another try. They told me that there were new owners and that I would love the food, and let me tell you, the food did not disappoint. This is the most authentic Ethiopian flavor profile I've had in Metro Atlanta! Absolutely authentically delicious!!!!!Many similar places have shifted to the western way of using excess oil in what should be very healthy lentil and veggie dishes. I'm so glad I gave Bahel another try! The food is spot on, no unnecessary use of oil and the flavor is on point. It's the Veggie Combo for me! Upgrading to 5 stars!A year ago: About last night: I try Ethiopian food all across the country, and this was not Ethiopian food. The only thing that taste remotely authentic were the green beans. The yellow lentils were stiff, dry and not hot. The red lentils were runny. The collard greens looked and taste like they came out of a can. Not sure how to describe the cabbage. To top it off they charge $3.00 for injera that is supposed to come with the meal per the menu and when I asked about the charges on my receipt, the host said "its gluten free and expensive to make" ? Injera is naturally gluten free and is not expensive to make and comes with the meal per the menu. Food overall was not hot. Will not return.

Bahel is incredible! The front room is unassuming, but go to the back room for a warm atmosphere. Prices are good and the food is incredible. However, what stood out the most was the service, as the owner was incredibly helpful in explaining the menu and giving recommendations to my group. One of those places that I hope to come back too soon.

Heard about this place from an Uber driver and it did not disappoint. I am not by any means an expert when it comes to Ethiopian food, but I've been impressed every time I've dined here.

Excellent flavors and quality of food. Friendly service and clean dining area. Recommend vegetarian combo. The Doro Wat chicken stew has great flavor but only came with one drumstick of meat.

I have spent the last 5 years traveling the country in a van, sampling foods as I go. Kitfo is my favorite food. This is my favorite kitfo. My partner and I ate kitfo across the street and were still hungry so we had a second course here. This one demolished the other. We then returned here the following day for another course. I recognize this may sound insane. That's just how much I like kitfo in general and this kitfo in particular. Order the Bahel kitfo, and order it raw. Then message me to tell me you loved it too.

Much less Americanized as Desta and they have Doro Wat which is, in my opinion, the best Ethiopian dish. It's the National dish of Ethiopia so it's kind of inexplicable that Desta doesn't have it on its menu. Don't get me wrong. Desta is good. I just don't know why it is apparently more popular than Bahel when Bahel has more going for it. I guess it's about the "Americanized" thing.

Ordered a few mins away, came in to a nice calm cafe vibe a few people just sippin coffee/tea, relaxed. Got the veggie combo plate which includes side salad and 4 spongy breads. The lady at the counter was nice and accomidating, explained its not much different than Eritrean food ive had before. Me and dad ate for dinner and lunch and the food is GREAT! Reminded me of soul/southern food. Greens, beans, lentils, peas, cabbage. With the spongebreadsquarepants its perfect. Definitely ask for the hot sauce on the side, its like Bufalo but with a spicy ethopian kick, nice. Going back here for sure!
