We have been going to JDs for 25+ years, as frequently as once a week up until about a year or two ago. It was slowly declining in service, food (good but not great) and atmosphere and there are so many new places to enjoy in that regard. We stopped in on 4/13/2024 for lunch while in the area running errands. It was clear from the greeting, the cleanliness of the bar and the new wait staff and uniforms that something shifted! The place felt like it had been given new life. Everyone was polite and professional. The waitstaff checked the occupied tables regularly and ensured unoccupied tables were up to snuff. We had great service at the bar, the food was delicious like it had been in the past, and the atmosphere just felt better, cleaner and like someone cared! We're glad they did and we wanted to say we noticed! Thank you to all the staff that day and to Hunter, our bartender/waiter. Keep up the great work - we're looking forward to our next visit!
Yes lord !!!! Everything you would want in a restaurant, I had the crab appetizer and she had the ribs, but the star was the croissants everything was delicious. We’ll visit again.

I arrived in ATL tonight and as I often do decided on dinner at Joey D's. I was at the restaurant about 3 weeks ago and had unfortunate experience. Since I'd had more positive than negative experiences, I decided to visit again tonight - WRONG ANSWER.I ordered a burger and stripped it down to basics but a big NO on the blue cheese crumbles. You guessed it, burger was loaded with blue cheese crumbs so I asked to speak with a manager. The manager, Diane, comes to the table without a plan. I inform her that my food came out wrong as all she said was "well we're making you another sandwich". Not an apology, not a we'll get it right this time, not a I'll speak to the kitchen.I told her if that was her message she could just leave and that "I was aware they were making another one". I went on to tell her that my guest was enjoying their food and all I could do was to watch.I lived in ATL for 15+ years, worked in Dunwoody for most of those years and frequently visited the restaurant. In reviewing my most recent 2 visits, I think I'll find another restaurant that is a little more in tune with their customers other than a response like "we're making you another sandwich. This used to be a top tier restaurant and based on my recent 2 visits, I'd have trouble rating them higher that a Ruby Tuesday or an Applebees.Unbelievable the decreased service level and customer experience of my last two visits.GM, might be time for some crash course leadership training.

Fake "upscale" affectations. The waiters have silly 1940s uniforms. They require reservations even if they're half empty: We turned around and made a reservation for twenty minutes later via their website, and they shrugged and seated us immediately anyway.Farcical.Food is pretty good.

Beautiful Restaurant with a Great Bar and the Beautiful Lacee behind the Bar delivering 5 Star Service and Cocktails.
We like to visit Joey D's when our family is in town because there is something for everyone to choose from on the menu...Salads, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, steak, and seafood. My husband loves the prime rib. I try different things each time, but the two staples we can't go without are the garlic crab claws and the croissants with the honey butter! Oh my gosh! So good! We always get several orders of the croissants because one is just not enough. We always add on a salad because the salads are delish! The house salad is so good and my husband always raves about the caesar. This past visit my in-laws both had salmon. They said it was very good. I had the open face Ruben sandwich. It was enough for me to have two more meals at home! Service is always fantastic and pricing is very reasonable. My only complaint is that the restaurant gets very loud when it's busy. We have to yell to talk to each other, but we typically go between 5:30-6pm when it's not super busy to avoid the noise. Overall, it's a great place for a good meal! It was so good this last visit I forgot to take pictures. ?Kid-friendliness: There were many children in the restaurant when we visited. The menu has plenty of options that kids would like to eat.
Went for lunch. Had not been in many years. The atmosphere is open and beautiful. I am certain the food is exceptional. However, the dish I order was way too spicy for me. I was only able to eat 2-3 bites before my mouth was on fire. The waitress never came back to ask how the meal was and when she saw my full plate of Chicken Rigatoni pushed to the side, she asked if I was done and took it away without inquiring if there was anything wrong.Meals were prompt and hot. My companion enjoyed her steak salad but substituted chicken and I did enjoy the cream of mushroom soup special.

I discovered this quaint little bistro while speaking at a convention in Atlanta and I was amazed. The rainbow trout was grilled to perfection and, pared with a side of their creamed spinach, was the perfect meal following my drive from Nashville. Excellent service reminiscent of an earlier era when those things mattered. Thank you Joey D. Highly recommend.
