Now this is how you do sushi! I booked the lunch omakase for a birthday gift to myself and it did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in the door, the service is great. The hostess was extremely nice and helpful. She explained everything and when it came to add on she was informative and not pushy. The space is super cute. There is the food bar where the chef is making the sushi. There is also a smaller bar in the back. In the middle is a sitting area with a couch and chairs. The music matched the experience. You can tell this was well thought out. The food! The best sushi I have ever had. The flow of the menu was perfection. From the refresher to the dessert. At the end the chef made sure to talked to each customer and ask about their experience. I can not wait to go back. Run , don't walk, to try this place out. You will fall in love with sushi.

Omakase by Yun is an incredible dinner experience! The service was impeccable, and the food was fresh, immersive, and delicious. We particularly loved the Big Mac, lean tuna, sashimi selections, sake tasting and cocktails. Chef Yun was welcoming and attentive. And the mixologist Chauncey (Taylor) created some of the best cocktails we've had. On top of all that, the music and vibe were 10/10. Highly recommend!

I forgot to take some photos because the food and experience were phenomenal. The service is extremely attentive and hospitable. Chef Yun describes many of the dishes and has clear passion for his craft. I've had sushi around the world including Japan, South Korea, Seattle, Vegas, and of course Atlanta, but this is definitely the best of the best.I also had a headache for most of the dinner and it is still one of the best meals I've ever had. Will be back again.

It was over $300 per person(omakase+drink+add on menu+tip). Everything was worthy and tasty especially mackerel. But their add on menu was little overprice and too much ingredients inside of just a piece of sushi. It was hard to taste every single stuff inside well.

We had the 17 course meal with wine and sake pairing. Food was very good, wine was very good - honestly it's a lot of alcohol, so do consider whether you can take it. But all the dishes are tasteful and presented beautifully throughout the night. You do get a full omakase experience with an assortment of fish, soup, rice, and desserts. Many of these dishes were definitely memorable, especially that Ube tamago cake.Atmosphere was comfortable. You see the chef prepare the dishes in front of you which is a fun experience while chatting with your friend or partner. An experience for 2 is easiest since everyone is seated bar style. Music was appropriate levels. There was a hiccup with our visit where they accidentally dropped our wine glasses while moving us from the bar to the table. Not sure if they need to include this moving service since the table's a couple feet away, but they attempted to make it up with free sake and extra hand roll. I felt they were sincerely apologetic for this mishap - well the bartender was definitely most apologetic. But yea accidents happen, it's ok.Service was okay. They refilled our drinks, folded our napkins whenever we left for the restroom, and cleared the dishes in a timely manner. But the crew felt like a mixture of seasoned veterans and somewhat-young hires. When things go well, everything runs smoothly; when mishaps happened (especially in our visit) and members turn to instinct, we saw who was experienced and who wasn't.I'd say for the price the attention to detail felt missing. (Many of these are my opinions).- Explanation of each dish started off clearly with the chef taking time to describe the composition of the piece but then slowly drifted to (somewhat) individual, rushed explanations. There could be similar levels of attention for each dish. - They somehow forgot my friends oyster dish (part of the meal), and when they brought it out later I noticed the salad bed under the oyster was not the same. Maybe they ran out of salad? - They took my salad away before I was finished and grabbed my egg custard soup bowl to see if I was done or not while I was still eating it (from the chefs side of the table, so they reached over). Who's supposed to be clearing the dishes, the waiters or the sous chef? I've never had anybody tip my bowl over to check if I was done with the dish. - The waiter was explaining to us that she would take our glasses to the table for us which is kind, but the whole time she explained this while walking away from us to get a tray, so we didn't hear anything she said and had to ask her what she was doing. She could explain to us first what she was going to do before walking off to get the tray so it felt very impersonal. For the price, we're paying for an experience which is why I'm more picky of the service. Granted the place is very new, so there's a lot of room to grow, but for a +$500 bill for 2 I was expecting a more well oiled machine.

My favorite omakase place in Atlanta! Everything is so fresh! Chef Yun perfectly curated a menu that takes your taste buds on a mouth watering journey! Every piece has a unique flavor of its’ own. Must try the Big Mac! You have to order that À la cart! Good date night spot or a night out with your girls, this place never disappoints! The service is also superb! Love this place!

Best sushi in Atlanta, hands down.Compared to the benchmark sushi restaurants in Atlanta, Omakase by Yun (ObY) offers the best sushi you are going to find. Yun is back! The Japanese grocery store counter near Georgia Tech was charming, but delighted he finally has his own space.Quite simply, from a quality perspective, you will not find better sushi in Atlanta. They fly fish in directly from fisheries in Japan, off of Boston, and other direct and short lead time locations to deliver as best is possible freshness and then prepare it superbly and creatively. Rounded out by attentive service, a wine list that provides quality at reasonable prices and water glasses always topped off, you are left to enjoy sushi you’d have to fly to London to beat.My take is as follows: Tomo is very high quality sushi in a not so great setting and you leave hungry; Umi is good but their omakase never changes and an 8pm reservation gets you seated at 9pm after a standup wait in their crowded bar; and Nobu has four very good dishes if you know which and very good people watching but will set you back quite a bit if you want to go wide and diverse in your experience. ObY offers better quality, more personal attention, and you won’t be waiting in the bar for your table well after the reservation you made. If you don’t need to be in the same room as people taking Instagram selfies, want an immersive experience, and don’t want to stand and wait an hour for your table, ObY is an excellent choice.Seventeen courses prepared right in front of you, each sublime, and the chance to ask the chef about each of them makes for a wonderful experience. We left perfectly well satiated. Not hungry, not too full. The pace of courses was plenty quick that 17 did not seem too many or take long. Like baby bear, just right. We will be going back.

Food- 3/5 stars. we got 17 pieces for what the website described as an 18-piece omakase. Among the 17 pieces, soup and dessert-like items were included, which was atypical in my experiences at omakases (I've been to at least 10 omakase tastings, in NYC, Philadelphia, and Japan). I'm not much for sweet things, so having 3 sweet items included in the 17 pieces was a bit disappointing. I could say there were about 3 pieces that I loved and repeated. There were many potentials that were unfortunately made too salty.Service- 4/5 stars. The chef made the experience intimate and personal, which is what I expect in an omakase. Friendly staff.Atmosphere- 2/5 stars. The restaurant was decorated for halloween, and had a 1st grade classroom like appearance- so pictures were out of the question. Music was blasting way too loudly; loved the Taylor Swift music, but was way too loud for a sushi restaurant, let alone an omakase tasting. The ambiance was very off.I paid $600+ for 2 people (drinks and repeats included in that bill). At the time of booking, I thought I saw $125 for the 18-courses - didn't check my bill closely as I was trying to quickly pay before my friend returned from the bathroom. Looking at the website now, it looks like they upped the price to $185 for 18-courses.Really wanted to like it, as I took a friend who was new to omakase. I would've loved to have an omakase to return to whenever I'm visiting Atlanta, but unfortunately this isn't it for me.
