There's nothing sadder to your tummy than when a beloved favorite restaurant goes bad. Sadly, after last night's order, Planet Bombay is now one of them. For the past year or so, I may have been Planet Bombay's biggest fan, ordering from them via Uber Eats at least a couple times a month. I actually looked forward to getting to the end of my stressful, crappy week simply so I could order up their perfectly spiced, amazingly delicious Indian food. Their tarka dal, saag aloo, and mulligatawny soup were so sumptuous I am actually forced to use that word. In short, it was love at first bite. Unfortunately, a love like this was apparently not meant to last. For all my orders, I have put in the notes that I prefer my dishes to be "mild / not spicy." This has never been an issue before, but over the course of the last three orders, it seems like this has been roundly ignored, and my dishes have become spicier with every order. I can take a little extra kick from time to time, but last night really took the biscuit. Additionally, they've regularly been forgetting items from my order -- over the last three orders, every single one of them was missing items. I ordered the veggie combo (my usual order), which is a thali for those who know Indian food well. It comes with tarka daal, saag aloo (or paneer if you prefer), a vegetable curry, naan, rice, dessert and two onion bhaji. It's usually the deal of the century -- tons of food, great price, and epically yummy. I asked for the dishes to be mild/not spicy as usual, hoping the last two times had been a mistake. I also ordered a few other items, asking for mild where appropriate. What turned up was just the veggie combo and my mulligatawny soup. Other items ordered were missing, which has sadly become par for the course. However, let's turn our attention to that veggie combo. It was literally so spicy that I couldn't eat it. Not even the rice could tone it down. I went to use some of the riata that comes with it, and it was sour and off. The bhajis were fried to the point that they were so hard and inedible they would have made a handy weapon rather than a side dish. My mulligatawny soup was so spicy it actually had a red tint to it. A friend of mine who LIVES for spicy food stopped by briefly and I got them to try it, and he was amazed that it was ordered mild. "This is the level of spice I order!" he exclaimed. So, it would turn out that the third time was decidedly NOT a charm with Planet Bombay. I wish this wasn't the case, but I honestly can't be bothered to waste my time and cash on a restaurant who's getting it so wrong. Sorry, Planet Bombay. We're officially breaking up.

funny enough, the only times (plural) i have eaten here have been either for pick up or delivery, so let's be clear that i definitely intend to dine in at some point soon.... indian food is my favorite genre of cuisine. i love the food here! i usually order one of the combos for the variety and amount of food you get. always consistantly delicious and flavorful! their saag paneer is THEE best saag paneer i have ever had. i don't know what they are putting in it, but it is perfect! i could only wish they would do a lunch buffet like you find in most indian restaurants. if so, i would be in there at least once a week, lol. yummm!

Perfect customer service, great food. I would definitely return, the person that attended to my friend and I made sure we were satisfied.

Honestly the worst customer service and experience I have EVER had. Placed an online order at 6:30PM for delivery to be scheduled at 7:15PM. Placed delivery instructions to call me upon arrival. An hour past the delivery time (8:15PM) I call to check on where my order is - they said it'll be there soon, he just left with my food. 8:45PM rolls around and I still don't have my food, so I call again. The manager tells me that he will be there in ten minutes, but also during the call, the delivery guy comes back to the place with my food. I confirmed with two people, and checked my emailed receipt that my phone number was in fact correct. When I go to ask how they can make this situation better - now that I am 1 hour and thirty minutes past my delivery time, and the food is likely cold.. I got yelled at by someone on staff and they told me they were going to refund my order and not deliver my food. One would think that with the restaurant at fault and my food being so late that they would try to make this work.. but nothing was done. The manager eventually told me the food was coming, with no refund. The food.... honestly nothing special. As expected, it was cold and everything had to be reheated. I got the chicken tikka masala and I thought it was pretty subpar compared to other Indian places I have had. Looking for my new ATL Indian spot, and unfortunately I just don't think this is it.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The atmosphere was very warm and pleasant. The food was very well seasoned and cooked to order. The staff was extremely courteous and delightful. We would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to try a different type of cuisine. Top notch authentic Indian cuisine! Once you try it, you will definitely want to come back again. Simply wonderful!

I haven't eaten here yet but the Guy working was so nice. I'm out doing Uber Eats and was picking up and he just made me feel so welcomed. Even gave me a water (for his Muslim Sister). I will come back to eat

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The friendliest people you will ever meet. Sat down and our waiter was the most pleasant person I've ever had the pleasure of having as a waiter. Gave his recommendations. Music was on point. The food was delicious. Taste buds exploded with how flavorable the food was. Hats off to the chef. Shoutout to Babu who was the kindest & funniest waiter.

HOLY COW! This is hands down the best Indian food you can get in GA. While Tabla and Blue India are great restaurants, they don't come close to this when you're strictly talking about food. I highly suggest you check this place out. You won't regret it!

This is the best Indian restaurant in Atlanta. Hands down! Zero argument. I have ordered from here multiple times and they have consistently served some amazing food. It's also authentic AF! The food tastes the same in India and that's a rarity when it does match those standards. Only reason I am not giving it 5 is for the service time. I placed to delivery order from them(not 3rd party). They took over 45 minutes to deliver even though I'm 2 miles away from them. The other downside is that they only open after 3pm, so I stay hungry until then then order and then it takes a while to get to me unless I pickup. Apart from this, their food makes up for everything. Also, if I were you, go easy on the spicy levels and don't ask for very spicy, even for my Indian palette I felt I had a burnt intestine. Keep it medium or hot and you should be good. Highly recommend - chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, Gobi manchurian, chicken tandoori! And yes they don't skimp on portions!

I ordered the Tandoori chicken (extra spicy!) and naan through DoorDash. It was everything I hoped it would be and I had left overs. I def would order again.

The people here are doing god's work by creating such delicious food in such a warm and welcoming environment. If your heart and stomach are in need of a hug, come here. You are sure to leave satisfied and happier than you did when you arrived. Babu and the rest of the staff are attentive and want you to enjoy your dining experience. Trust whatever Babu suggests, he knows what he's doing. Do yourself a favor and eat here.
