Our go-to coffee shop on the Westside. We love Star Provisions and head here at least 1x a week. The pastry selection is unbeatable - highly suggest the salt bagel with herb cream cheese - and the coffee is made to order. They've got an expansive menu of breakfast (and lunch!) options, and we always opt for the sausage biscuit with preserves. The staff are nice and helpful, always in a good mood and quick to help. There is a great selection of gifts/non-perishable food items for purchase, too. It's a bit pricey, but always worth it for good pastries and coffee!

I don’t think I’ve ever written such a detailed review but this place has me floored ?I was really excited to try this place out! It looked very cute and actually has breakfast sandwiches. After getting breakfast here I cannot help but write about how disorganized this place is. First off it is VERY cute and the treats look delicious.Just really stunned by the complete lack of organization here. It’s easy to not see it because it’s cute. But man, no trash can?The first thing that was awkward was that their menu was only on letter port printouts at the end of their pastry windows. They didn’t have one at the register or above or anywhere to reference. So I had to carry it with me. Then there was no where to put it afterwards.Second, there is no trash or place to bud your own dishes. So there’s piles of paper ware everywhere from people who have left it there. The nearest trash can IS OUTSIDE and it’s overflowing!!!!Third, you order food and they bring it out to you on plates but everything else is disposable. Wooden forks wrapper in paper. Coffee served in paper cups. The worst part about this is that you can’t tell what utensils you’re getting. I tried to get a fork only to find a wooden knife three times. After which I had to ask someone food running to get me one. A waste of his time. It’s confusing weird and wasteful. Why not use real cups and real silverware?Fourth, you order a coffee. And there is a sugar station but in order to get cream you need to interrupt the cashier who is working and ask for cream. They’ll give you a cup full of cream. Then you’ll pour your small amount then give it back. They have to pour out the rest and throw away the paper. On food running, there’s a bunch of staff running food back and fourth. When you order they rice you a small numberIt’s easily not seen so the food runners are awkwardly pacing back and forth until they find you. Poor fellas. Make it easier for everyone by using bigger signs or just calling it out. It’s really expensive for what it is. I got a coffee, breakfast sandwich and latkes for $30.Another thing they bummed me out was when I ordered my sandwich I asked how the egg is prepared. I was told sunnyside up but can be cooler to order. So I asked for over hard. Got it sunny side up. That’s entirely on me though. I should know to never modify an order!!!

A great place for a sun-drenched lunch. Adjacent to Bacchanalia on the Westside, Star offers pretty presentations of nicely flavored food. The falafel is non-traditional in the best way. And the accompanying apple salad was full of crisp tanginess. After your casual meal, this is a great place to peruse for outstanding gift-type household goods. The ginger molasses cookie was probably made by elves who love their jobs and sing while they work. Yum.Parking: Easy to park on large adjacent lot on a Friday midday.

We wanted a spot to post up while we did a little work and also grab a bite to eat at the same time. Our research led us to Star Provisions. It was our first time so we were excited to try it, especially since it smelled so good when you walked in. We ordered the granola and yogurt bowl, a chicken biscuit, and the Korean beef sandwich. The granola and yogurt bowl was nice, not too sweet, and the chicken biscuit was really good. My husband liked his sandwich but said the bread was almost too chewy and wished it had a bit more flavor, but he enjoyed it. Overall, we would definitely try the food again. The sore part of our experience was the customer service at the front counter. There were two employees working the front counter at the time of our visit. The guy seemed really quiet but made sure to greet us and answer our questions at least. However, the young woman did not greet us and seemed short and not very warm. As a woman, I never assume another woman has to do a show and dance of “politeness” to make others feel comfortable, but this is the hospitality industry. Being hospitable should be the bare minimum. My husband even went back to order something else with his coffee and asked if she had recommendations for pastries. She responded with a shrug, “I mean, it’s whatever you like.” She didn’t bother asking any questions about his preference or try to suggest something. You work at a bakery. Someone asking you for recommendations is not outlandish. He ended up just getting his coffee and leaving it at that. Didn’t want to spend anymore money. It just seemed we were not the type of customers she felt she needed provide above and beyond service to. The rest of the staff were nice, specifically the person who was going around delivering the food to each table. They were wearing a baseball cap. Based on the reviews it’s obvious Star Provisions is a local favorite and customers rave about the service. It was just not our experience. This was January 23rd, 2024 at around 2pm.

My uncle and I decided to do brunch, and with him being picky, I had to make sure the menu was good! I found this place, as the sandwiches sounded good and they have a small market you can buy meat and cheese from. We tried the shrimp po boy and korean beef, both with apple salad. I got a cappuccino, and he got a ginger beer. When the food came, the presentation was unimpressive. I opened my sandwich, and the bread to meat ratio was definitely not 1 to 1. My uncle liked the shrimp and kept complimenting on how it was perfectly cooked, but the po boy had no sauce! The sauce sometimes makes the sandwich, and with this key element missing, the sandwich didn't come together. I found my sandwich extremely underwhelming. The Korean beef missed the mark on that umami flavor, and the kimchi that's supposed to be in the sandwich was just coleslaw. I mean, it wasn't spicy and didn't have enough heat! So for this to be sparse and the flavor composition being bland, I wasn't thrilled with my sandwich. Now the bread at this place is out of this world! It was flaky and soft, which was excellent for the sandwiches! My uncle and I loved the bread, but we had hoped our sandwiches were better. The cappuccino was ok.The staff is super friendly and we enjoyed them while they took our order and brought our food! I did get prosciutto and salami to take home, and I found this meat to be excellent! The market had some cool items for sale and a good assortment of specialty cheeses. I'll come back and try a different sandwich, but I highly recommend this place for the bread and friendly service.
