Hands down best bbq in Glynn county. Thoughtful and creative dishes with solid core meats which is the whole point! For once I even complimented the Brunswick stew which is extremely hard for me as i make a phenomenal one. Staff/atmosphere are also perfect as well. Can't wait to go back.

Holy moly, what a delicious place to eat. I got the street corn and brisket street tacos. The brisket is fantastically flavored and such a good blend with the toppings. The street corn is also impeccably seasoned, good kick. I would recommend anyone to come here and try their brisket and food. How I've been in this area for so long without hearing of this place is a crime! I didn't get a picture because the food was gone before I knew it.

By far the best BBQ I have ever had… and I have had a lot of great BBQ! Their brisket can’t be beat and if they have Pork Belly, get it!!! Their special’s are also always amazing and really creative. It’s not just your average BBQ.

The food here is out of this world yummy. It’s familiar enough to be comforting, yet innovative enough to be interesting. I particularly recommend the chicken tacos and charro beans, absolutely delicious. As an added bonus, the people are nice and the seating area has great vibes.

This is some of the best food on earth!!! Definitely not your typical BBQ. They have all the standards which are exceptional!! The Brisket is the best I've ever had!! There's also a new specials menu every week with one of a kind dishes crafted with care by Judd, Kate & Tommy!!

Enjoyed a monster OBD brisket sandwich. It was fantastic!! Highly recommended to visit. Not to be forgotten, the Mac n cheese is silky, creamy, smooth, and cheesy. Great meal.

Background I am always on the lookout for good barbecue (actually - good smoked meats). In Brunswick, I've been to Twin Oaks, Gary Lee's, Mack's BBQ, Mack's BBQ Express, Sonny's, Shane's, Willie Jewel's & Southern Soul. So I was super excited to find out there was a new spot in town. Technically, Hootenanny's isn't 'new' because they were formerly known as South of Heaven BBQ. Exterior They are located in that block right in front of the courthouse and can be a little hard to find because like any historic area, you're not allowed to post big, eye-catching signage. My navigation was complete garbage when giving me directions and basically - 2) First visit, traveling from Altama / MLK, told me I'd arrived at my destination when I was still at the corner of G Street and Ellis Street; b) on next visit, I was traveling from Hwy 341 and it told me turn right on Ellis when I should have been making a left. Parking is a bit limited, but it's free. Interior / Dining room (see photos) Right now, there's no interior dining offered. But they are doing construction to allow that to happen. In fact, the first day I went by (I arrived too late to place an order), I thought they might be closed because I saw all the construction going on, but I walked around the back and Tommy assured me they were open during their regular business hours. He invited me to come back the next day before 2:30pm. The 'back yard' is covered in straw and there are several wooden picnic tables for customer dining. Customer Service / Ease of ordering Kate was working the window. Gorgeous brunette with a big, pretty smile. She was super friendly. I will say this - if I'd not known from reading the previous review & from speaking to Tommy the day before, I would not know how the ordering process works because it's not immediately obvious. And the door the dining room isn't marked 'do not enter' or 'closed for construction' so I did find it a little confusing, but I'm willing to wander around looking clueless for a little bit if the reward is good food. Lol. You have to walk along the gravel (ladies - be careful and leave your high heels at home because it's a larger stone and it can be a bit hard to walk across) and go up 3 little steps and place your order at the side window. Then you head on to the backyard and when food is ready, they call your name from the back window and you trot up there to get your food. (I was the last customer of the day and the only customer, so Tommy actually brought my food to me.) They don't take phone orders and Tommy told me that the phone number online isn't even the number for the restaurant. They only way to order in advance is via Instagram or Facebook. I'm always a little bummed when restaurants do this because while I do have IG, FB, etc - I deliberately don't have those apps on my phone - and on 'vacation,' I'm rarely driving around with my tablet and laptop in tow. Food (see photos) I really REALLY love grilled and smoked meats. And I make that distinction from BBQ / barbecue because, truthfully, I only ever put barbecue sauce on smoked meat when I'm trying to disguise the taste / flavor of the meat. Hootenanny's uses a genuine smoker and the chopped chicken sandwich was so delicious, I didn't even think about putting sauce on it. My bun was buttered & toasted but I didn't eat it. My food looked and smelled so good that I just had to tuck into it before I left. Unfortunately, the gnats ran me out of the backyard, so I hustled back up front and ate half of my food in the car before driving off. Lol. The chicken was tender & juicy. I asked for the coleslaw on the side and no hyperbole whatsoever - that was the best smoked chicken & the best coleslaw I've ever tasted. I got beef stroganoff (one of the daily specials) as my side and it was very unique and very delicious. They used Cavatappi noodles & even though the

The BBQ Illuminati had Pork Belly Tacos so I HAD to try that special out!!! Oscar Foxtrot Sierra!!! Out Fricking Standing! SO juicy and the umami flavors with the pickled onions and veggies on top were spectacular! The service is always fast and friendly. I also got the BBQ Bowl again and I'm looking forward to having that for dinner tomorrow. Oh and I'm ready for a nap after those tacos and the corn side. Hootenanny's RULES!!! ‍
