Great food, but the amount of food for 8 people was not even close to enough and the price for it was not worth it (Boss Hog - $42). Choate BBQ needs to specify how much food it will feed (the description made it seem like it would feed alot of people) and in this case it only fed 3 people. The 3 sides are in little cups (only 1 serving each) and it comes with 3 pieces of bread. The meat was delicious, but we werent all able to try the sides.
Unless the owner is on premises...I would consider other options. Pastrami/ Reuben special two weeks ago was beyond incredible...I ordered 2 more for take out. I'm guessing a multi-day marinate with 10 hour low temp. roast. Today, my order was a simple Brisket dinner plate (To Go). Wow, what a disappointment. 30%+ pure fat. This was a To Go order so I didn't have time to check the meal beforehand. Good percentage of $17.50 of meal was inedible and thrown out. Out of courtesy, I didn't check the order as to insult the staff. My fault....not Choate.

The food and service were generally good, with the waitress being notably pleasant. However, our experience was marred by several issues: despite requesting otherwise, our salads arrived with blue cheese, and our appetizer wings were served late, nearly after we finished our main courses. The brisket pimento cheese sandwich and ribs were enjoyable, but the salmon was undercooked. As first-time visitors, we tried a selection of draft beers, only to find the sampling cups dirty, with remnants of food particles. Despite these setbacks, the overall quality of the food, the friendly service, and the atmosphere remained positive.

Came in on a busy Friday night. Bailey took such great care of us. Made it super personable. We couldn’t decide and did the Boss Hog - the sausage is a shocking surprise! Oh, save room for the desserts - they’re awesome. Love that it is family owned and enjoyed seeing Bryan and Kristi Choate checking on everyone.
This is a quite beautiful place, don't let the outside setting fool you! The ladies that manage and serve are welcoming and polite, the ribs where perfect!!! It seems like a nice place to spent some time in a Friday

Stopped by when we were in the area. Brian greeted us as soon as we walked in the door as he did with every customer. He also thanked everyone for coming in when they left and so did his staff. Fantastic BBQ! We even were able to purchase some of his brisket rub. If I’m ever in the area again I will be back. Brian once you figure out virtual cornhole from states away I’m joining! Thanks for a great meal and drinks!

Great BBQ, smoked just right. The pulled pork sandwich is always tasty bite. Goes great with a porter on tap. Best fresh cut fries around town. Highly recommend you try it out you will not be disappointed!

Had a delicious lunch of bbq pork sandwich, Mac and cheese and a cosmopolitan. Jodi took excellent care of me & the food was delicious. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere and staff. Will definitely be back!

Brisket sandwich $13.50 plus $1 to add coleslaw was so dry I couldn't finish it. I put so much sauce on it to try to get it down that I couldn't taste the meat. This was the second time I've been here, the first time approximately 1.5 years ago the food was good. For the prices and portion sizes, the food should be no less than excellent.
