I received mixed reviews about this establishment and decided to try it out for myself. I arrived earlier than my reservation and was able to be seated early. Long story short, my food was subpar and the service was the worst I have experienced.I only remember the server’s name because it was on the receipt. He never introduced himself although he gave a warm, friendly greeting when he approached the table. We placed our drink and appetizer order. We waited a minimum of 20 minutes for Jalen to return. The restaurant was not busy; there was only one other occupied table. Never received a refill for my drink. I believe the food is cooked to order because it took a long time to come out. Again, this would have been a great opportunity for our server to check on us and clear our table.Let’s get to the main two reasons I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS PLACE.1. When we asked Jalen (waiter) how appetizing a particular item was, his response was “I do not recommend expensive items.” I was immediately puzzled by his response and I asked if he understood what we were asking and he repeated his statement. We could clearly see the price listed on the menu which was not in question. It was only when I said “the price is not an issue that he then began recommending items. He never refilled our drinks nor did he clear the table of our appetizer plates.2. The food. (A) Cabbage is not a garnish. (B) I ordered the seafood basket. You could tell the oil was old because the food was dark in color and not golden. (C) the fried items were overcooked. My fish was thin and hard as burnt bacon. (D) one person in our party ordered the oxtails and ham hocks. The description is misleading. I do not think we ever found the hammocks. The flavor was decent at best. The seafood basket was salted and overcooked.In closing, GO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Ordered the “Afta Church Plate” delivery and the portion of my 2 sides were very small scoop more like for a children’s portion of a scoop. Kinda insulting due to the price i paid. The 4 wings were tasty but the drizzle was very little. Very disappointed of how skimpy my meal was for $32 that I paid for delivery. With soul food , most restaurants serve a cornbread muffin especially when you have collard greens! No muffin or a roll. They wanted you to pay near $5 for 2 muffins… like No. idk if I will be back.

The food here was sooooo delicious!! everytime I come here it’s always good! The music, the food and service. Jaden is the best server so definitely ask for him!
Finally, was in the College Park area and was able to try Virgil’s! I was super excited about it. Atmosphere was nice for an afternoon lunch, was greeted kindly. All off to a great start. We ordered our meals, I ordered the Seafood BaskitFush / Skrimp / Oystas / Deviled Crab (ACCORDING TO THE MENU AT THE RESTAURANT). Food came out timely no complaints there. After food was delivered to the table I noticed my basket was missing the oysters, I called the server over and he apologized and went to the kitchen came back and told me that they were out of oysters so they substituted for salmon patty, which is fine but acknowledge that when meal is brought to the table. Also, since there was a salmon patty in the basket it means the deviled crab is missing. So, I brought him back to the table and he proceeds to tell me that they have been out of the deviled crab for about 6 months and it’s not offered.I’m not sure why that was not disclosed at the time of me ordering. This was my first experience and I’m not sure how a customer is supposed to know what the restaurant is out of. Now my $29.95 basket that now has 4 fried shrimp, and a piece of fish and a salmon patty that was substituted for me with no acknowledgment.This experience could have been so different if the server would have acknowledged the things they were out of and gave me my options to either order something different or substitute.Wish this was differently, totally ruined my first experience ?
