We were looking for an authentic barbecue spot in the area with good reviews. Being from Los Angeles, the last thing we wanted was a "boujee" overpriced wait-for-an-hour tourist trap (lol ...just ignore my Los Angeles negativity because this review is about to become a lot more positive). We turned off the beaten path with bright lights and stumbled across Chef Rick's. We found everything we were looking for in Chef Ricks--authentic DELICIOUS barbecue food, proud and warm owner/chef/host/waiter (in Rick), simple furnishings, no line, and very good prices with LARGE portions. If I hadn't told him "No" my husband would have started drinking Rick's "secret" barbecue sauce lol. The fried okra was aweeesome. I love places like this and I wish they weren't so rare!!! Thank you Chef Rick!

I was told about amazing chicken wings! Well the story is true!!!! I’ve never ever had a chicken wing to compare. Since I was there I went ahead and got ribs Mac n cheese and collard greens too. Oh my oh my oh my. I have just found a slice of heaven! I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. I give this place 5 stars all the way. Only down side for chef Ricks is if you aren’t looking for him, you might jus pass it by and never even know.

Last week was the first time in this good restaurant. But It is definitely not the last. We passed a splendid evening with the generous service, with the fine cooking and booze and with the modest payment. We will surely go back there soon.

by far the best gumbo I’ve ever had and my family from Mississippi. Fish sandwich too all torch eats from a black owned establishment. Definitely a hidden gem of Douglasville ??
I love Chef Rick... and his food. I hadn't been in a while because of where I was living, but now that I've moved to Douglasville I'll definitely be back. I think this is my third time going and I always get a fish sandwich. The tilapia was seasoned to perfection and the fish filet had just enough crispiness for me. The strawberry cake was moist and I couldn't leave without a slice. This was my husband's first time having it and he enjoyed it as well. I'm so glad we supported small and I can't wait to become a true regular. Go check him out.
