I had Indian food in other places but nothing like this restaurant ❤️ love the food here

My co-workers and I loved this place because we didn't know what the foods were called, but we knew what we liked the taste of, so the weekday lunch buffet was a perfect chance to sample everything at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, when they re-opened the buffet they made it Saturday only. My co-workers and I are not in the area on Saturday. So, this is just another expensive, order off the menu Indian restaurant now. A sad decision that I hope they will reverse some day.

Friendly staff, great food, what more could you ask for? I ended up ordering more than I would eat just so I could take some home. The Daal Puri appetizer is absolutely heavenly. Plenty of vegetarian options, too!

The food was absolutely disgusting. I love Indian food and I have never tasted anything this bad in my life. How is this place in business and serving the public such horrible food. If there was a way to give Zero stars, I would definitely not give them any. 1 star is being VERY VERY NICE, they don’t deserve it. I am visiting from out of town and I was expecting some delicious food. And got the worst food EVER! It’s in the trash right now because I couldn’t stand the smell of it and it tasted terrible! I wouldn’t even feed anything so bad to my dog. When I walked in I only saw 2 people dining in and that was my cue to RUN BACK OUT THE DOOR, but no I stayed and wasted my money. I wish I could get my money back!! The credit card machine ran out of paper and the dude washing dishes came up front to fix the machine, how tacky! I want the World Wide Web to know about this place and PLEASE do not wast your time or money on this trash.

I've tried a few Indian cuisine places in the area and this is by far my favorite. They people here are always super friendly and the food is always good.

Excellent food and service as usual. Can't wait for the buffet to open back up for weekday lunches! Been coming here for almost 20 years

Perhaps one of the tastiest Indian meals I have had in many, many years. My first time. I shall be back for sure!

Had a relatively quiet group there for the Sunday buffet. Was very comfortable, food was very fresh, nice selection of meats and veggies. Pleasant wait staff and very helpful and attentive !!

Very, VERY nice staff, but that's about it. Our Mexican server was excellent and super attentive and hospitable. A manager or perhaps the owner continually checked on us during our meal, so I would give them 5 starts if just scoring the the customer service. The two stars only reflects our opinion of the food. Now, I've been enjoying Indian food since my days in college 25 years ago. Not only did I have a few close Indian friends, but there were many small indian restaurants in the Philly University CIty area around U Penn serving the Indian faculty and students, as well as others in the know. After college I returned home to NYC where one can find many good (and bad) Indian restaurants with most of the questionable ones actually being Bangladeshi or Pakistani owned maskerading as authentic Indian cuisine. That's what I suspect is going on here. Not sure if these owners are actually Indian or if they're from a region of India where the cuisine is sharply different than what I am used to, but something was off about the flavor. We noticed that where we were seated in the smaller dining room to the left, everyone eating appeared to be non-Indian. However, in the main dining area, there was a special event starting and all of the women looked to be from somewhere close to India, but your eyes can lie to you. They were obviously muslim by their head coverings, so that tipped us off to something being off with our experiences at Indian restaurants. I'm not Indian so it's very possible I've been conditioned to favor one regional type of Indian food that's not being offered at Poona, but we were not happy with the flavor of any of our dishes. My wife an I joked that perhaps they had two menus, one for those native to India and a watered down, Americanized version they were providing to us... or perhaps its not them. It's us. Regardless, this is my honest opinion of our meal. The Poori was thick instead of light and fluffy and was served dusted with what looked and tasted like salt and powdered cumin. The Chicken Tikka naan was a bit salty, too, so if we were to enjoy our meal, it would've been difficult tasting its true flavor with a salted tongue. I LOVE mutter paneer and have not only ordered it a hundred times in my life, but I've also successfully made it myself more than once from a really good recipe. My home-cooked dish was much more flavorful than this one servered to us. We also had the Begun Bharta (eggplant, onions and peas), but unfortunatly, it too lacked the distinct spices, flavors, and tastes I recognize when the food is really good. I eat and enjoy spicy foods, but when I try a new place, I'll ask for a more tame or standard heat level the first time to baseline it. On more than one occasion, "mild" is anything but, and my kids cant enjoy the food. MIld seems to have a different level of heat, not just from culture to culture, but from restaurant to restaurant, so we went with mild here and that may also explain the blandness. They may have even added water to the dishes, because that's actually the best way to accuratley describe what our food tasted like. Really surprised at all the 5 star reviews here that helped us to decide to give Poona Indian Restaurant a try, but everyone has their own concept and opinion of what is good food, so to each their own.

A family favorite. We love the weekend lunch buffets! This place is family owned, and they treat you like a part of the family here. With thoughtful touches like a tea station, sides and plenty of different types of fresh chutney to make the meal perfect, this is one of the best Indian spots in Atlanta. The food is not too greasy, with plenty of vegetarian options in an ambience that’s classic and comfortable.

Me and my fiancé ate at Poona Indian restaurant and it was his first experience with Indian food. The service was absolutely amazing and the restaurant was so beautiful you felt like you stepped into someone’s home and they was so friendly and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving good authentic Indian food and a friendly atmosphere.

Today I placed my first order. Everything is delicious and the customer service is great! I had a large order so they brought my food out to the car. My family loves it and I will definitely order more food soon.

I got take out, although usually i do a meal delivery service. Weirdly when i picked up up the food was cold :( it isnt usually when i grubhub. I got the saag paneer, veg samosas, papadum, and naan. The samosas are delectable if you're getting anything definitely get a side of those!!! The papadum and naan were decent, a little salty on the papadum and maybe a little bland on the naan, but good. I have to say the saag paneer was very disappointing. Not sure if it was due to the lukewarmness or the spinach maybe not being cooked down enough, it just didn't taste fresh. There was also very little paneer in it, like 5 little chunks. The base flavor was good, but it definitely could've been better. The side of rice has weird fried onions on it which i didnt like but the rice itself was seasoned really nicely. They give decent portions. if you get sides youll definitely be very full. The decor is super cute inside!

Great food, great service and atmosphere. I always get the feeling that the staff sincerely wants you to have the best experience possible. Really great and warm people! The flavors are more subtle than most Indian restaurants so if you need a shotgun blast of spices in your mouth this isn't the place for you. But I like variety. I mean I love Indian food, but I don't always need to taste it 5 hours after I've eaten.
