Food was good. Service was ok. Kitchen was extremely slow. We cleaned off our own table in order to have a place to sit. Took 30 minutes to get drinks and even longer for order to be taken. Food took well over an hour and several orders were wrong. Server had to pack up part of our order because we were finished before it came out. Nearly a 2 hour lunch at a deli. Very disappointed because I had heard great things.

I guess the service depends on when you go, because we've been going to Schroeder's for years and it's never been terrible. But on Thursday night, we had an inattentive server who passed our table time and time again - never acknowledging us. When she did finally stop to take our orders, she was not friendly, no "I'm sorry for the wait", nothing. The food took forever to be served and was delivered in the same manner. We had to ask for drink refills; she never stopped to ask if we needed anything.Maybe because I was already irritated by the lack of good service, my Turkish sub was "sub"standard. Very little turkey and it was all on one side of the sandwich.The place was moderately busy, and I only saw two servers.When I first got there, I stood for several minutes before a guy in the kitchen finally asked if he could help me with something. I said we would be a party of six, where should we sit? "Anywhere" was his reply and that was the last time anyone ever acknowledged us until at least fifteen minutes later.On this particular night, the fried mushrooms were not up to par - small, soggy, and the batter was falling off.All in all, it was a bad night. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday, and it was a bummer.(And just so you know, both of my daughters have been [and one still is] a server. So we don't have unrealistic expectations of what good service is...a simple cheerful "I'll be right with you!" in passing goes a long way when a server is busy and you're waiting)Schroeder's could benefit from reminding their wait staff to ACKNOWLEDGE customers when they walk in and, if they aren't going to seat them, to at least say, "Sit anywhere and someone will be right with you".With servers in the family, I know how important tips are - but you can't get good tips for lousy, inattentive, unfriendly service...

Ordered some potato skins and a pita something or other for $26. When I get there they tell me they're no longer honoring the gift cards. They just sold for Christmas because their system won't run them. I pointed out to the lady behind the counter that I only had $10 on me and she told me there's nothing they can do. I work in food service, we would never ever treat a customer like that. Especially knowing that the food is going to be tossed out if not paid for. I will not be returning.

Meh.Steady flow of people at noon on a Wed. Sat down and waited over 20min to be acknowledged. Would have left but, was meeting a friend. After 2 tables that arrived after us had ordered, I asked a server if she could find our waitress. A young lady handed us some menus and took our drink order. If I knew it would have taken another 15min, I would have placed our food order then.Food took forever... Both tables beside us received their checks and had left by the time our food arrived.2' pizza and some sort of veggie pita sandwich. Sprouts on sandwich had a moldy taste and pizza wasn't anything special. Had to ask for a drink refill as waitress disappeared after our food arrived. I honestly think she forgot about us.Place was dead after 1pm. Waited forever ((again)) for check.Overall Not impressed at all.**Save your $.30 (charge for a glass "filtered water") and skip this place**

I took my 83 year old mother for dinner at Schroeder's. We arrived at 5:40 and we left at 6:04 as we were never greeted or given menu. A young couple came in before we left and immediately greeted and given a menu. I spoke with a waitress at the counter and explained our situation. She apologized but said that was not her section we were sitting in. Schroeder's was not busy upon our arrival, just a few tables were occupiedWe went to another restaurant and were greeted and our food served in 8 minutes

I literally eat here every time I am in Rome. This was my favorite place to go when I was in college, and it is still a great place to eat. I have never ordered anything at Schroeder's I didn't like, but I am particular to the calzones. They are great. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and the service is always good.Writing this review makes me want to think up a reason that I need to go to Rome so I can use that as an excuse to eat here again.
