I seriously don't know how anybody can give this restaurant a rating higher than two stars. The food is way below average. I love brought my family here several times because they're right around the corner from my house. every single time the food was subpar. I ordered two cheese chicken quesadillas for my very young children.... It looked like a massive unrolled burrito, very little cheese and the chicken meat look like canned chicken. When questioning the wait staff about how they prepare food she seemed very offended and was rude to us the rest of the evening. They also attempted to overcharge for a shot of cuervo tequila. ($18 for a 1oz cuervo)Seriously, if you think this is a good Mexican restaurant to eat you might want to get your taste buds checked. You probably have a very serious medical condition. This food is absolutely awful. I also ordered some chicken wings as an appetizer told them medium extra crispy for an appetizer. The wings came back practically burnt and all they did was drizzle Mexican hot sauce on the wing. I get it... it ain't a hot wing restaurant but it's kind of hard to mess up a hot wing if you really think about it. My taco salad was very bland it was almost like boiled ground beef dumped on top of soiled lettuce. I just can't get over that quesadilla. They said if you want it prepared like Taco Bell you have to ask them and it's also an upcharge LOL. They trying to act like they're an authentic Mexican restaurant but you know what? I didn't see one Mexican family in that restaurant on a Saturday night. It is very Americanized and they can't even get that right.

I would avoid El Jinete. We went there in mid-February 2024 and my wife got food poisoning / virus (confirmed by a Doctor) from a baked beef burrito. Plus, the service was slow as a sloth.

2024 update - last two times have been terrible. Watered down cheese dip. Smaller portions. Cartlidge in fajita chicken. Below average Mexican, would suggest driving 5 min further to the other el jinete location in Woodstock.

The owners of El Jinete not only have a fantastic restaurant with great food, but they are truly caring and wonderful people!! They kept their restaurant open all night on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 during the terrible snow jamb that paralyzed most of metro Atlanta. They even went so far as to approach people waiting in their cars to let the stranded know they would stay open and provide them refuse for the night. They even alerted the employees at the nearby Quick Trip that they would take folks in for the night. They saved me the agony of spending a night in my vehicle or on the floor at the Publix across the street! They charged my phone for me several times and proved to be extremely thoughtful and hospitable!! Thank you Javier and Pablo and the others who I did not get names! God bless you and your business for sharing yourselves and showing such caring hospitality to total strangers in need!!! Forever grateful!! Phil

A staple of the tri-cities area (Roswell, Marietta, Woodstock). It's almost always busy, but any wait usually isn't long.Chips and salsa are plenty (and free), and the food comes out fast and hot. There are TVs around, usually showing sports, but it's not a sports bar per se.Service is usually good. The only thing to watch out for is the $14 bowl of queso. Just make sure you know what size you're getting and don't just say, "the large queso!"

Never had a bad dish here. Love the chips, they’re thicker and hold up well with the salsa or dip.Personal favorite - Tommy’s Salad - all three meats, cheese, and salad. Great for managing carbs!Parking: Parking has electric car charging stations available.

Yum! ? Delicious crispy beef tacos here! ?? I ordered 2 tacos - one beef and one steak. I did prefer the ground beef better. I added tomatoes. One “deluxe” taco cost $3.45. ?Also, their tortilla chips are just OK, but their salsa & cheese dip with jalapeño is delicious!!! ?My dad got the tacos Carnitas it was a lot of food you get three tacos. He loved it. It also came with a side of cilantro, onions, and spicy salsa. ?️Not too crowded. Comfortable booths! ?? Will definitely be back! ?
I remember when this opened years ago and how they used to have ppl lined up waiting outside...... No more and i know why. This place has gone down to horrid. Came 3 different nights to make sure it wasn't just an off night.....nope!!!! Staff is ridiculously unaware of how to work hospitality or even their own menu and duties. Staff is more interested in socializing together in back than working. Only redemption is still great cheese dip, otherwise........ go elsewhere for better drinks, food, and service.

Great vibes and great prices. Our waitress was super sweet, and we were in an out quick. I would 100 % recommend for lunch or dinner or stopping before the movies. Portions left me full. Texas marg was delicious and didn't leave me with indigestion like pre mixes do.
