They take the phone off of the hook all the time. Even when not busy. We used to eat there 3 times a week for take out. Haven’t been in months even after complaining because the online order is a second company. That’s 4 of our friends that have stopped ordering and feel the same way are the same way. Sad. I am sure there are dozens who have stopped. That’s a lot of money they are losing .

Nice little place. Service was wonderful, food was delicious but portion sizes were a bit small. The tables are WAY too close together, it was impossible to not hear every word of the next table's conversation. Overall a nice place, I'll definitely be back, just some things I would be happier if they changed.

The atmosphere is lovely. But the food was not good. I had fried green tomatoes, and the fresh catch (bass?) with collards and red rice. For the first time in ages I sent food back because it just tasted bad.Nobody at our table was happy with their food, and we really wanted to be.The service was fine. And the desserts in the cases looked nice. Just the actual dinner did not work.We may have just been at the wrong restaurant (trying a friend's recommendation; may have this place mixed up with another steakhouse in this plaza) but slimy green tomatoes are objectively bad anywhere, the collards were funky and I couldn't taste the beleaguered fish under all that funk. Pan frying a ribeye also seems like a weird choice. Why no baked potato? It felt like a philosophical decision.

I went to J Thomas when it first opened and it was really good, I went a second time 2 years ago and it kept its reputation. When I went again present day, it had significantly declined in both food presentation, service and quality. I wake pooking. Forward to there Mac n cheese which years ago was served in a gratin dish with Al denote noodles, cheesey filling and nice brown bubbly top. Today the Mac n cheese was served in a mushy scoop on the plate like a cafeteria would. I was so taken aback and surprised! Plus the plating on the fried green tomatoes had changed and was not as fantastic as they used to be. Mush in fact and overly smothered in the bacon jam where 2 years ago, they were the best damn fried green tomatoes Savannah raised girl ever had! So disappointed with my third visit. I will not return to dine in, but may consider them if I ever need a caterer.

We have loved going to this restaurant on for the past couple of years. However, last night was a totally bad experience. The waitress was prompt and attentive but our food for 2 took over an hour to come out. We witnessed a party of 6, that came in after us get their food well before us. It will be awhile before we try again.

J. Thomas catered my wedding and the food was a HIT! The guests raved about the food and multiple said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. It was plated beautifully and everyone was so professional and kind. Superb! I would highly recommend.

Apparently if you come later in the evening they are all out of the specials and the scallops, fried shrimp, and bread… oh all the blue plate specials as well. Plus you’ll find some lovely hair in your food.

The food here is great. The service has been hit or miss - especially if it’s not one of the people that have been there a couple of years. They do not do well at ALL when it’s busy. It’s absolute chaos and they all seem to not know how to get it under control. We had a to go order tonight and 75% of it was wrong. I’d love to see them get organized and at least acknowledge people and give them a wait time so they can decide if they want to wait. Write names down for the order to be seated. I saw at least 5 servers tonight at different times but they were mostly not on the floor. I’ve worked restaurants, so I get it, but it’s so disappointing as a loyal customer to be treated so nonchalantly. I know you can’t help being busy, but you can still communicate and be kind.

I really want to like this place, but they have made it difficult for me.The first time we went, everything was just about perfect. The Savannah Crab Soup was to die for, the rest of the meal was wonderful, and the service was great. It was a bit pricey at over $40 per person when all was said and done, but we didn’t mind that much because of the great experience.I’ve been back several times now and each time has been a HUGE disappointment. They never have a full menu saying they are out this or that and last time they were not serving SEVERAL of the items in the menu. I have wanted the scallops many times now and have never been able to try them because each time they say they are out. Also, EVERY time I’ve been lately I’ve had to ask them to bring me my soup because they forget to bring it. I don’t expect the service to be perfect, but I’d like my soup to come out before my entree and not have to ask for it. Especially when I’m spending so much money. And this last time after we had gotten our meals, I overheard a waitress (a different waitress from ours) tell another table what the specials were. We we never told of any specials and it would have been nice to know them ahead of time. The atmosphere is casual, so I wasn’t expecting them to treat me like royalty, but if I’m going to drop $40 per person in a restaurant, I expect to at least be treated like I’m a valued customer. And except for that first visit, I almost felt like I was a nuisance to them for being there. After my first visit, I recommended this restaurant to several people and have gotten feedback that they did not have a good experience. They said the food was good, but the service wasn’t great and that for how much it costs, they won’t be going back.It looks like our first visit was the exception to the rule at this restaurant.I still think their Savannah Crab Soup is absolutely delicious. But from now on when I want some, I’m just going to get a bowl to go so I don’t have to endure an entire evening there.

My experiences have always been good until dining here on Friday Feb. 17th. My wife and I ordered the fish on the blue plate special. Very small portion from previous meals there. The waitress was on another planet. Her name was Dinah. Absolutely terrible. Non attentive. The negatives are too long to list.

The service was great and fast-paced. I got a fried chicken sandwich that was very flavorful and a loaded potato salad which was loaded with ingredients but not too much flavor. You also get a basket of fresh chips and pimento cheese while waiting. Definitely worth checking out!

I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of okra and tomatoes. To my delight, it also came with a huge biscuit. It was absolutely yummy. The portion was more than generous, so I had enough for another meal. Not to mention, before your food arrives, you get a basket of homemade chips with pimento cheese, which is also yummy. Make sure you come hungry, you won’t leave disappointed. And the bakery assortment is wonderful! I can go on and on what this place has to offer. JUST GO SEE FOR YOURSELF!?

Our party of eleven called the day of for reservations and the staff I spoke with were very accommodating; even went as far as to call me back a few hours later to let me know they would be having a limited menu due to the holiday. DO NOT let the location deceive you; it’s located in a strip mall and we were a bit leery upon pulling up. But this place was incredible. My husband and I weren’t very hungry so we opted to share an entree; we chose the pan seared pork chop with sweet potato mash and collards. Easily the best pork chop I’ve ever eaten and the sides were perfectly prepared. Our son got the filet with fries and macaroni and cheese; his words: “best filet I’ve ever had”. Our server was wonderful and attentive and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!

We have eaten here once, and the shrimp and grits were amazing!!!!They also have premade food that you can take home and cook, which we do regularly. It’s priced great, too. I recommend the chicken Alfredo!

Chicken sandwich was good and so wee grits. Greek salad was tasty but needed more greens. A bit expensive for amount given. Service was friendly but started out a tad slower.
