I drove around downtown looking for Mabel's, only to find an empty storefront with a coming soon sign for a new bakery. Bummer!

I've had better cupcakes, and they were really expensive. I went later in the day, but idk?

After checking into our hotel, my wife and I saw this place immediately right outside our door and made a point to check it out on our way back from lunch. They're right at one of the corners of Ellis Square in downtown Savannah, and they have a pretty big sign that's easy to see whether you're in your car or on foot. It's a cozy, quaint little space, and the types of businesses that I tend to gravitate towards when I travel. The woman operating the place gave us a story about how these were all her grandmother's recipes, and the quality of the cupcakes did look pretty good. Like, imperfect in that manner that says these are handmade and occasional inconsistent icing or fat ends of cupcakes. We got a half dozen of varying flavors, and although I can't remember them all, they have a variety of fruity flavors, chocolate flavors, as well as some mixtures as well. I do remember that we were pleased with the quality of the cupcakes in general, and that they weren't so oversweet that they make your teeth hurt, or leave that gross filmy feeling in your mouth. The cakes remained moist even after two days, which is when we finished the last of them, which is good because nobody likes it when they turn into dry cornbread consistency. I don't remember the exact price, but it was all in all right around $20 for the half dozen. I guess that could be interpreted as high for six cupcakes, but with tourist blinders and knowing it's a one-off, I don't really care. The overall experience was a cute little business with quality product and my wife and I being satisfied by the variety and quality of their cupcakes.

Stopped in because who doesn’t love cupcakes! Pleasantly surprised by all the wonderful flavors we tried. The service was warm and friendly. We will definitely be back.

I'm fairly certain these cupcakes are made with box cake mix. When I checked in with yelp and showed the discount I got, they said they "hadn't given yelp permission to do that".

Dry cupcakes. I expected better by the reviews, but the cupcakes I bought were super dry and dense. The frosting tasted manufactured, not bakery-made. Honestly, they reminded me of Costco cupcakes, or day-old ones from Publix. The interior of the shop is bit off-putting too. Definitely not worth the price. I threw them away after one bite.

First of all, while waiting in line the items they had for sale were similar to a garage sale. A few beanie babies, one hand soap bottle, and a single candle. Very odd for a bakery. All of these items appeared to be used. I checked in on yelp and a 10% coupon came up, when I showed the coupon to the cashier she called for her mama. Mama said, "I don't do yelp". The young girl was very pleasant. However, the cookies were on par with ones you buy at a gas station glued together with store bought tub frosting, our experience was odd at best.

Very cute and quaint shop however the cupcakes were just OK. The variety was good but they were very small and the cake was not moist. Coming from Atlanta I am comparing them to a cupscake store called CAMICAKES.

This was included in our food tour which is what brought us in. It is a neat little place where the owner makes the cupcakes from scratch. My weakness is red velvet and my daughter loves strawberry. So we enjoyed this sweet treat although the cake was dry, the icing was superb! I enjoy supporting hard working entrepreneurs so keep up the good work, Ms. Mabel!

I thought it was really nice that the owner herself made the cupcakes from scratch however the cupcakes tasted like cornbread with dry icing. But I admire the hardwork put into the business.

We went on a Friday night and the cupcakes were dry and the employee's personality was even drier. Definitely won't be back.

Cupcakes were pretty but also dry. The icing was about the same quality you could make at home. Cute little shop, and the cupcakes tasted alright but were definitely not worth the price when I could make the same if not better at home from a box.

Staff was friendly but their French macarons were not good. Too dry/brittle and filled with something similar to cake frosting. Way too sweet, definitely would not recommend…really disappointing considering all of the good reviews. Didn’t try anything else though so the other pastries might be good.

I was walking around Savannah with my family when I came across this store. Their sign outside said they had Macarons and I was so excited. However, when I actually ate one I was severely disappointed. I'd rather eat box store macarons than the ones I had at Mabel's. They were insanely sweet and I had a stomach ache after eating just one. The only reason I'm giving a second star is because the woman at the counter was very friendly.
