Had higher expectations I guess. Our waitress didn't know a lot of basic information (wine list, what was in drinks, etc) but was pleasant enough. It also seemed very chaotic, with the Host and bartender bringing food to the wrong tables.Food was decent enough, I got the Shrimp&Grits. Any subtle flavors the grits had were totally overpowered by the amount of butter melted on the plate.I would return if improvements were made.

Absolute best service and atmosphere! We had salads, steak and grits, shrimp and grits, and the early bird special which is the New York strip and mashed potatoes w/salad! All of it was delicious! The staff is as always kind and welcoming! Quick to get anything you need!

Pretty great cheesecake and we even got to keep the Mason jars that they came in. Thanks for a great tour, Ro!

We had reservations for two person for Saturday October 15 at 7 PM. We arrived at 6:55 PM. There was no hostess and no wait staff visible amongst the approximately 12 tables seated with diners. There was 1 bartender to handle the bar filled with about 10 people also. A pub crawl tour guide, offered to find us a hostess, even though she and her group were also waiting for a hostess. We waited until 7:10, which is a 15 minute wait. No one ever walked up to the host stand, not did any wait staff recognize our presence. I walked into the kitchen to try to locate anyone working there. The only staffer at the kitchen entrance told me to move back or I might slip, which seemed odd since I was on the restaurant rubber matting, which prevents slippages. I refused to move until someone seated us. Not one wait staff or cook in the kitchen offered, so I told the staffer at the kitchen entrance that many people were waiting at the front to be seated, but there was no one who offered to come out and seat us, or the tour guide's group or the other people waiting at the front of the tavern. We decided to leave and I told the staffer at the kitchen, who said nothing to me. We walked across the street to "Vic's on the River" and had no problem being seated outdoors by a hostess or being served by a very diligent wait staffer. I highly recommend Vic's. Being Savannah residents, we were disgusted by the treatment we received at Tondee and if there were less than 1 star ratings we would have selected -0- stars. This is no way to run a restaurant. If one does not have enough staff, then one must cut back on the number of tables available for wait staff to handle. Or let someone else run this establishment if one cannot figure out how to operate during Covid times. This is a terrible way to give an impression to guests to our fine city. We have both in the hospitality industry for 10 years and we won't be coming back here, with or without a reservation, and neither should you! Bring your business to a restaurant that wants your business.

Tondee’s Tavern was okay but not worth the high price point. Unfortunately, the salmon was overcooked, the fire cracker shrimp had too much sauce, and the food took a very long time to be served. The saving grace was the friendliness of the staff which is why I gave it three stars instead of only one. This was a one time visit for me.

Our party stayed for an hour and a half at 3pm with only about 10 others in the restaurant. I believe the cook was also our waiter because he wasn't around much to ask if we were okay. One of our parties hush puppies were burned and the others were undercooked with liquid dough inside. They did offer to replace. BLT has a lot of bacon on it that it made the bun soggy with grease. Didn't come with the sauce it was supposed to come with. Fried Green tomatoes were the best part.

We at at Tondee's Tavern as part of a food/pub crawl tour. It was our first stop, and we sampled the grits (which included veggies and bacon) and the cheesecake. Both were excellent! The cheese cake was especially good--my wife is a cheesecake lover, and she definitely appreciated Tondee's.

I watched Haley today use the cups to scoop ice out of the bin without the scoop- they had a special for NY strip with potatoes and salad. Best part was my beer and salad. I’m still flabbergasted that she used my cup to scoop ice. 100s of places- I’ll never be back. No thanks.

Great Bar in Savannah. Supposedly Haunted. I didn't get the honor of being spooked but I did have the honor of being served well. Bartender Joe is the best! Thank you for the great stories and hospitality.

Just ok. Shrimp and Grits has nothing on Bella's Cafe in New Haven, CT. Low Country seafood cannot compete with New England seafood so if you're coming from the New England area, don't waste your time and money. This was a tasting portion as part of a food tour.

My family and I went to eat there and the hostess was very rude and mean to us and in addition to the ghost guides! I believe her name is cricket. Never seen someone so mean to both customers and guides. Will never come here again with my family! It ruined our whole vacation.

I went during lunch time so it was a pretty mellow vibe, even for the Savannah tourist season. They were clearly short staffed but everyone was still great so I was just patient (as folks should be anyway). Bluey was on one TV with sports on the other so the vibe was cool. I ordered the Shrimp 4 way which was good..Except, the bacon wrapped shrimp was meh. The bacon was pretty undercooked. Other than that, everything was good. I'll be back during the evening when there are more opportunities to people watch.

Shrimp and grits were excellent and I do not even like grits! Sorry the picture is after eating almost all the food. OK service and a decent atmosphere

Wish I could make this zero stars. Second time at this place, both times bringing Girl Scout tour groups. They advertise that they welcome scout troops and even offer a special GS menu, the choices are basically for the kids not the adults, and your typical kid choices. Our troop was all high school students and adults so a more mature palate. Our orders had to be given a couple of months in advance, so they knew what time we were coming what was ordered, and for how many. Seating was a debacle but got straightened out after I explained, but hostess was miserable and annoyed, and the place was empty when we came in. Drink orders were taken and never refilled again for the rest of the meal, not even the water. Adults requested to order additional items off the regular menu and were asked why? Um, why would you turn down additional business? Meals weren't that great, they weren't when I was here 6yrs ago either, but thought maybe with new menu would be better, wrong! At the end of our meal that included dessert they brought us, get this, Girl Scout cookies! And just about the worst flavor that exists! Everyone at the table asked the waiter if they were kidding? I told the hostess that scouts do not want any more cookies, especially really bad ones. We left them on the table, what a joke! The one young lady who helped bring out our food was very sweet, wish I had gotten her name, she was willing to take our order for the additional food and was very pleasant. I will never take a troop here again, nor will I recommend it to anyone again.
