Honestly the worst restaurant in Statesboro. I have never received such bad customer service at a restaurant. I was sat down for over 35 minutes with out being asked what I wanted to drink or order. Then proceeded to ask for the tab for the chips and salsa that is usually complementary just to leave. The server acting like they were clueless about us even being there while they walked passed us countless times. To add to that , the Hispanic manager as we left ,said “tranquilos” which translates to “ have a good one”, as they also had previously walked through looking at tables if they were being assisted and saw that we were there for a a long time and had not be taken care of. He was the one that sat us originally too.

This is the most excruciating customer service I’ve ever received at a Mexican restaurant ! My friend and me arrived @ 6:40 for the happy hour special, we immediately got seated but waited for over 30 minutes and we never got asked for our drinks nor our food. This is truly disgraceful as other people were getting seated and getting their orders and drinks in & we were still waiting to even order our drinks . We happily left after 35 minutes as we did not enjoy the experience at all. The worst part was that the servers clearly saw us waiting but were completely acting oblivious to our presence which was really annoying! Definitely never coming here again and definitely do not recommend other people to come here at all.

I was sat down at 5:30 and had to wait 2 hours for food only for it to be cold. Only had one wave of chips while people around us were getting refills after they finished a basket.

Enjoyed the food very much here. The restraunt itself is dark and kind of dirty looking. Luckily there was a server there who had her stuff together and came to check on me even though I was not in her section. She got my drink and cheese dip and then my actual server took over and she brought my food out and never saw her again until I was almost done and she finally refilled my drink. I may go back again bc the food was good but I will not have that server again

Pros: They have more than enough parking available. They also offer outdoor seating. It is family friendly. Great customer service! The complimentary chips were thin and fresh! The salsa provided was also good. The paintings are absolutely beautiful! The beans were actually good. Variety of drinks (alcoholic and non). Cons: the food in general, It's not authentic or seasoned properly. We ordered a small guac, and it was so sour. We tried to add salt and lime to see if would help, but it didn't work. Ordered the number 2, which is 1 taco and choice of enchilada and rice. I did a steak taco for an up charge and then cheese enchiladas. It tasted so weird that I took two bites. I felt bad to waste food, but it was not good. Even for the shell, they only offer "soft" or crunchy, not flour or corn. My spouse ordered the tampiqueña. If you haven't had this dish before, Tampiqueña is a popular Mexican dish. Typically the steak is carne asada, and I don't even know what they served instead here. Again, not seasoned properly.

Excellent chips. Salsa thin but good flavor with light heat. Had their take on chili relleno's. Done well. Enjoyed the meal.

When we went to pick up food, they had to remake it because they gave it to someone else by mistake. They gave us a gift card which was nice to correct it. It took another 20 minutes to remake the food. The nachos were made wrong, and were drenched in grease from the beef at the bottom. The other food was good though.

This place was an unexpected delight. We were referred to a different place that was super busy, so we decided to try El Jalapeño. We were certainly glad we did.The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch.My son just entered his freshman year at GSU, so we'll definitely be back.

The food is great. However, it appears they are understaffed and over worked. No directions on where to pay. Took my ticket to the counter and was told "next time pay at the table". The guy was a little rude in the way he said it. A little training goes a long way, especially if you want customer's to return.

The shrimp had a horrible smell and taste as if it was expired or just was bad shrimp. Everyone was really nice about it however it just left a bad taste in our mouth and we couldn’t even finish the rest of our food. Would still recommend.
