I came based on the reviews. I thought it was okay. I had "red delicious" cupcake and coffee. The cupcake wasn't moist, light and fluffy. It was a bit on the dense side and cold so I think it wasn't freshly made that day; came from fridge. Coffee was okay.. I've had better. Regardless come support it. It's black-owned business!

Where do I start? Long story short, I ordered a custom cake in December 2021 for January 2022.I requested a Space Jam cake for my sons 4th birthday. I should have known there was gonna be a problem because they kept having email address issues - so I had to call multiple times and resend emails to several different email addresses.I provided Veronica with at least 10 inspirational pictures and told her exactly what I wanted. Mind you the initial request was done online. Back in 2019 is when I first order my first custom cake from their - it was a PERFECT Sing cake designed by both Shellane Brown and I. So, I actually knew what the cake what would look like prior to me picking it up because I approved the design.This wasn’t quite the same situation in 2022. I never knew who was making my cake and I was provided a design prior. I assumed it would be Shellane since she’s owner of the bakery and that’s who made it before.The cake quote was about $470, I said OKAY I paid the deposit which was half of the total. Not sure if I mentioned above but I’ll mention again I provided several pictures/ideas of what I wanted in addition to me providing the exact design. Like I actually drew it out.I arrived to the bakery on Saturday, 23Jan2022 around 11 am since that was the day of my sons party.Soon as I saw the cake I broke down in tears. A mess is a understatement. I said who made this? Bc I know Shellane didn’t bc that isn’t her work. It was awful to say the least. Peggy/Patsy can’t remember her name got one of the owners on the phone - Erica Houston- Pickett on the phone. Peggy and Erin went to the back and had a conversation with Erica I’m assuming showing her the piss poor job. They were trying to figure out what could be done to fix the cake since the actual person who designed the cake wasn’t there that day.Erin is specialized in buttercream and not fondant. So about an hour later Peggy hands me the phone and Erica and I are speaking and I let her know I’m disappointed and dissatisfied and the cake is ugly. She apologizes doesn’t have the best customer service I might add - the bakers at the shop was soooooooo sorry and very empathic. They couldn’t say the cake was ugly but I could see it on their face that they agreed with me. Not one person in the bakery said the cake was nice lol.So I’m speaking with Erica, I said there was NO thought or creativity put behind this cake and she said yes it was. I’m thinking how because I actually designed the cake I just needed them to execute it. Erin fixed the cake to the best of her ability. God bless her and Peggy because they really went above and beyond but the cake still fell extremely short. I wanted a mix of the new and old Space Jam. There was only the old Space Jam reflected. The cake was a damn mess. She took $150 off but that was it.The bakery should have refunded me. I drove an hour away for BS. If I knew Shellane wasn’t making the cake I would have never ordered. I get she’s on the Food Network and super busy compared to where she was in 2019 but that’s NO excuse for the bakery to think it’s okay to provide subpar work. As I told the bakers, I would have went to Walmart for this. I ended up paying over $300 in total (I needed a cake and really had no choice - Erica knew that). I didn’t leave that bakery up til after 1 pm.Do not order from Applebutter unless you see the work of the cake decorator. It’s a black owned bakery and the taste was there but not the customer service.I had several people come from different states to celebrate my son and I wanted everything perfect. Cakes are focal points at parties and this cake fell soooooooo short.

The three co-owners consist of mom Veronica Pickett and sisters Erica Houston-Pickett & Shellane Brown, with assists from cake decorators Melissa Cordovi Vidal & Alene Paulk. Shellane made her first cake when she was 21 for her best friends birthday and spent Sunday afternoons watching Ace of Cakes with her mom. Like so many successful entrepreneurs, college had her question the direction her studies were leading. She nostalgically reminisced about "getting to lick the bowl" as her mom and aunt baked and from there her choice was made. Although there were challenges along the way, once on the path she didn't turn back largely due to encouragement from her family. They now stand strong in their hometown of Stone Mountain with a second store opening soon in Fayetteville. Shellane has won challenges on TV shows like: ~ Halloween Wars (Season 11) ~ BUDDY VS. DUFF (Season 3) ~ Cake-a-like (Season 1, episode 5) [ THE EXPERIENCE ] Inside you'll find a cute mash-up of different items, from a glass case with dumbbells' and half a skull (not kidding), to an antique sewing machine, radio and typewriter. There are also books for sale such as The Underground Railroad, Hidden Figures, Queen Sugar and We're Going to Need More Wine by Gabriel Union. The space takes full advantage of its corner unit location as the 2 walls of windows allow for dark wood counters and black chalkboard paint on some of the walls... to which they have written baking puns such as "Just beat it" and "Just Roll with It" with the appropriate utensils attached. SO STINKIN' CUTE! The display case includes a delightful selection of cupcakes as well as perfect macaroons, mini-pies, premade cakes, cake parfaits, Apple butter bread pudding (MINE, DON'T TOUCH) and cake/pie slices. They also serve cornbread, pound cake, hot chocolate, coffee and cold beverages as well as a list of special order items. [ THE GOODIES ] I ordered CUPCAKE FLAVORS: Key Lime, German Chocolate, Banana | $3.25 each BROWNIE FLAVORS: Fudge & White Chocolate Blondie | $2.50 each 1/2 Dozen Chocolate Chip Cookies | $1.50 each I particularly loved their whimsical names for each item: Key Lime Cake = #OMNOMNOM w/key lime cream cheese Banana Cake = BANEENEE w/Italian meringue buttercream German Chocolate = LOVE ON TOP w/coconut pecan icing Chocolate Chip Cookie = LAWD HAVE MERCY EVERYTHING was 5 stars!!! [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] PHENOMENAL cupcakes cookies and brownies! The Key Lime was my absolute favorite thing to put in my mouth! It almost got me in trouble with my wife because I didn't want to share, not even a bite... LOL! But I'm a smart husband so I resisted to urge to sneeze on it and call dibs! My wife was hilarious in her reaction to the German Chocolate cupcake. One bite seemed to cement her lips together and collapse one eyelid as all she could do was nod her head 'yes' and point at the remaining cupcake with her fork. She didn't speak again (except various moaning noises) until the cupcake was completely inhaled! The cookies were buttery and the brownies were moist and perfectly sweet. Not too much, not too little. BOTTOM LINE - These ladies are the real deal. Definitely have found my go to bakery for future special event cakes! Read great things & was disappointed.To their credit the regular brownie was very good.Will probably try to call on Monday, just to see if the problem can be handle.

I was so excited to get a custom cake for my birthday,first time ever. I know the taste is amazing but it's packaged completely wrong. Huge box with no support!! Cake is completely destroyed, not happy. I was told their delivery driver hasn't been delivery cakes in the best condition, but I'm seeing first hand it's not packaged correctly... They also have a "no refund or exchange policy"...smh

We bought two pies and brought them to Baltimore for Thanksgiving. They were an absolute hit! We also got a brownie and a Blondie, and that Blondie was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. I love this bakery with a realness.

My family ordered a caramel vanilla latte celebration cake for my birthday and it was delicious! The vanilla cake was soft, moist, and not too sweet, the frosting was coffee-y and light. (Maybe a tad too much but thats just my preference) it looked gorgeous too. Wish i took a picture before we demolished it. The prices are great too! We'll be ordering for my brothers birthday next!

Delicious desserts great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I went here when I was out of town for a sweet tooth craving that I had to fulfill. This place not only met my mark it was above standards. The cupcakes were to die for I mean over the top tasty and delicious. When I do visit mountain stone Atlanta again I definitely will be taking a trip back to this tasty tasty bakery
