I wish I could put zero stars. I went in person to order my daughter’s cake for her Sweet 16 because I had just found out that Walmart does two and three tier cakes. I placed my order and the guy told me I needed to put down a deposit, which was fine. (I actually didn’t know they did that because I usually order smaller birthday cakes that don’t require a deposit.) I asked him if I could come back after work to pay the deposit and he said yes. I went after work to go pay the deposit and the guy that was helping me earlier was no longer there so I spoke to another associate that was behind the bakery counter. She found my order and when I went to ask her where I pay the deposit, she told me I could just pay the whole thing the day I pick up the cake. I had a friend with me from work with me that was a witness to her saying this. I asked, “Are you sure? Because I was told I had to put a deposit down to get this cake and I really need to have this cake done for her Sweet 16.” The lady said she was sure and told me to ask for her when I came back for the cake. Saturday comes around and I called to see if the cake was ready for me to pick up, and I was told that it was not made because I never put down a deposit. After telling the lady the situation and everything that happened, the lady became very rude and kept repeating, “You didn’t put a deposit down, I’m not making no cake with no deposit!” I was so upset. I asked her why someone would tell me to not pay for the cake until it was made, if it was not going to be made?? She said she didn’t know why they told me that and again rudely said, “YOU DIDN’T PAY A DEPOSIT SO YOU NOT GETTING YOUR CAKE!” I told her I had the money for the deposit and had the money for the whole cake! It’s not like I didn’t want to pay for the cake! I asked to speak to a manager because now I didn’t have a cake for my daughter’s party. They left me on hold for 30 minutes and all I could hear was her yelling in the background about how I EXPECTED A FREE CAKE! I then heard her tell someone to not pick up the phone and then they hung up on me. AFTER 30 mins of waiting! I called customer service to speak with someone and no one would answer. I am one that never calls to complain about people, but the way this lady yelled at me and treated me like I was trying to get a free cake was upsetting. I called their corporate number for complaints and spoke to someone that told me they couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone either. So of course, nothing was done about this.
