I have been going here for years. It’s cozy, warm and inviting and the staff who run the tea house are very friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help. Have not been there in awhile due to pandemic but will be going back soon. The tea and food are wonderful.

Took my mom for her first visit and it was fantastic. We absolutely loved the sun dried tomato soup, her chicken salad and my quiche. Blueberry tea was just what we needed.

This is one of the best tea rooms in the south. I've been going here with family and friends for years, and from the warm hospitality to the delicious high tea lunch menus and tea varieties, it always impresses -- try the masala chai and the strawberry cream flavors!

It was such a cute experience to go there with friends. We stayed from the time they opened until they closed and we were never rushed to leave. The servers were very kind and super attentive. This is my second time going there and I would definitely go back.

I’ve been taking my daughter to Tea Leaves and Thyme now for six years to celebrate her birthday. It has always been something she looks forward to throughout the year. The last time we went prior to today was in 2020 and was the first time we ever had any kind of a negative experience, but I chalked it up to the fact that we all make mistakes sometimes and thought nothing of it.Today’s visit, however, was more than disappointing. A week ago, I made our reservations and pre-ordered our food to avoid any misunderstandings like we did last year. Since my almost 11-year-old daughter has a gluten sensitivity, I requested that her food be gluten-free. We were considering getting the “Classic Afternoon Tea” with which my daughter wanted the Sun-dried Tomato Tartlet, so I specifically asked if it comes with a gluten-free crust. The lady told me that it did not, so I ordered the “Light Afternoon Tea,” which includes food items that could all be provided as gluten-free. Additionally, I was specific to say that we do not eat pork or shellfish. The lady I spoke with was very cordial and said she made a note of it and that it would not be a problem. Our reservation was at 1 PM, and my daughter was hungry. The first thing I asked our server was if they made sure we were not to get pork or shellfish products and that my daughter was to receive the gluten-free options. She indicated that there was a note about the pork and shellfish but not about the gluten-free. A few minutes later, the lady who had taken my order over the phone came and said she had not written down that the tea service was to be gluten-free. I suspected that she thought I had forgotten to mention it when I made the reservation. She proceeded to offer my daughter substitutes for the finger sandwiches of some kind of frozen fruit cup. She indicated that their gluten-free bread was frozen. Since my daughter wanted the finger sandwiches for her lunch instead of fruit, I asked for the bread to be thawed. The lady said that, though they don’t typically do this, it was possible to microwave it. I was visibly vexed by the situation but tried to make the best of things for my daughter’s sake.Obviously, our wait was longer than normal. When we received our food, my tray had a ham sandwich on it (which they took back), and my daughter said her sandwiches were not completely thawed. Though unhappy with the way things were going, we did not complain. In addition to our tea, I asked for ice water. Though our server was diligent about pouring our tea for us and taking away serving dishes, I had to ask a second time before the water was brought to us. I had already taken about three sips of water before I realized that the white thing in the water that I thought was ice was really a piece of plastic, probably from a carry-out bag. I pointed this out to the server, and she offered to get me another glass. When I received my bill, there was no deduction at all for their initial mistakes which increased our wait time. The lady who took my bill at the checkout asked how everything was today. My calm reply was, “Not great.” Without missing a beat, she said, “I’m sorry,” and proceeded to charge my credit card without asking anything about what the problem was. For the sake of not sullying my daughter’s special day, I decided not to say anymore. The bottom line is this: we do not patronize Tea Leaves and Thyme for the over-priced food and drink; we go for the experience of making memories together doing something my daughter loves. To make a reservation, a credit card number is required so a $50 charge can be made to it should one not show up without a 24-hour notice of cancellation. However, when this establishment fell short of the high standards one expects from a place that requires reservations and no-show fees that exceed the cost of our order, they made no meaningful apology nor any attempt to show they appreciate our repeat business (verbal or otherwise).

This tea room is so pretty and elegant! We were welcomed with the most peaceful piano music as we enjoyed the queen's tea. The perfect place to have a delightful tea time!

Enjoyed the unique experience. First was soup and salad, then came the entree. Then they bring a 3 tier stand with a variety of finger sandwiches and desserts. You have to be willing to try foods probably different from what you are used to. The 2 soups you could choose from was: tomato basil pecan and cream of artichoke. The entree was a chicken salad crossaint, chicken salad on lettuce or a tart. The tray consisted of: 3 different mini scones with an amaretto dipping sa

This is a special place! My family loves to come here for special moments. The food is great, the staff is caring, and the atmosphere is peaceful and happy. Others must think the same because you must make reservations or you will not get in.
