I have to say that the food wasn't at all what I expected, there was no taste to any of plates we bought, the mahi mahi was over cooked.

Maybe the versions not in the mall are a little better. Food wasn't bad just not as good as I thought it would be. We all got a variety. Chicken sandwich was pretty great and fresh. I have the Loco moco which was alright. For sure edible, I finished it. Low quality burger patty but still not bad. We had a burger also not bad. Tots and fries pretty great. Basic. Mac salad was way too much mayo but I hear thats how it's supposed to be which I understand. Honestly BEST thing was that slushy float. YUM! Anyhow overall not a bad stop but would try to go to one not in the mall.

The Kapahulu location has the best food quality and variety of daily specials of all the Rainbows locations in my opinion. The hamburger I ordered at Pearlridge had barely any sauce for example but I have nevet had this issue in the decades Ive eaten at Kapahulu location. The convenience is unbeatable though for westside residents and could be worth the tradeoff. Plus there is actual parking nearby!

I chose this among the other food court options because of nostalgia. Unfortunately it was quite disappointing. I ordered a hamburger steak plate which was around $13. It came with three thin patties that had no beef flavor and a strange after taste. It's hard to believe that the loco moco that probably uses the same kind of beef patty was voted number 1. The macaroni salad had a tart taste that I could not tell if it was spoiled or tart on purpose. I was disappointed in my meal and do not recommend the hamburger steak plate at all.

Food was great. Simple, good food that fills the belly for a great price. Not overly seasoned. We got the chicken and pork. Everything was made to order and super hot.

What can I say. Easier to get food here compared to kapahulu. So when I am on this side I go more often. The kapahulu location is a 2 person affair. One to look for parking and the other to pay and get food.

This Rainbow Drive Inn is located in the Pearlridge Center. We usually go to the one located in Kapahulu. We were in the area and I wanted to pick up some gift cards from this establishment. Parking was easy to find at the center. I was surprised because it's the holiday times and parking is usually difficult to find. You go up the escalator and take another escalator up to the food court level. Pretty easy to find. It's located across from Consolidated theater. I ordered the gift cards and the famous ice cream slush to go. Yummy. The slush was FREE! For every $50 gift card amount that you order, you get a card for a free small ice cream slush! What a nice surprise. Service was fast and efficient here. Soft drinks are refillable (not at the Kapahulu one lol). It's located in a food court that has many tables and chairs available to you. It's well lit but a little on the noisy side.

Stopped to get a couple of sandwiches from Rainbow drive-in & had a hankering for their BBQ pork sandwich. This was on Thursday, 11/16/23, about 1/1:30PM. Located in downtown Pearlridge, 4th floor food court. Can't miss it, right by the monorail entrance & elevator, to the immediate right of the stairs/elevator. Since it was post lunch rush, the entire place was pretty empty & no lines anywhere. I was greeted by a nice employee who promptly took my order. I've been to this location a few times since they opened in 2019. They have a simple menu of local plate lunches, sandwiches, burgers, & different specials daily. Their menu is not as extensive as the Kapahulu location but there is a decent amount of choices to select from.BBQ pork sandwich - it was ok, not the best I've had. The bun they use for the sandwiches is pretty good, not the typical flavor of a hamburger bun. More like a potato bun & soft. Price was $6.95 and besides the bun & pork, it had lettuce & mayo. They do give lots of meat for what you pay, not too fatty but it was so salty, probably from the BBQ/teriyaki sauce they use. The 1 piece of lettuce was soggy from too much mayo & it became such the messy sandwich to eat. I probably won't get that again.Boneless chicken sandwich - This was also $6.95. I don't remember getting this before so somehow I thought it was just going to be unbreaded, skinless. It was fully breaded & I thought I wasn't going to like it but it was a pleasant surprise. It was pretty good! Well-seasoned, very tasty, not too salty like the BBQ pork. They put 2 huge pieces of chicken that overflowed the bun, along with 1 piece of soggy lettuce & too much mayo. It was definitely worth the price I paid. I would order this again but with no lettuce & easy mayo or mayo on the side. So ono!I didn't wait long for my order, only a few minutes. Rainbow Drive-In is also known for its slush float. I've had these before & they are ono! Besides their regular options of soft drinks, they also carry lilikoi, fruit punch, & green river (Hardee's brand) out of the drink dispenser. They do give good customer service & have reasonable prices with quantity they do not skimp on. I do have to agree with other yelpers though, that the quality of their food has certainly come down.

Sad to say that this place has changed and not got the better. BBQ steak plate (my fave) changed its name to BBQ beef. Ok I thought no big deal. Oh was I wrong. The meat was way over saturated with a salty teriyaki marinade, it was dry and the whole time I was wishing we ate somewhere else. Sorry Rainbows don't know why you changed but you'll now be on my pass list when in Hawaii. The 2 stars were for the slush float which also wasn't the same but pretty good.
