Gross place, dirty, lots of flys! The food was very bad! I ordered a Loco Moco and I have to throw it to the trash, the sauce that they put on top was really salty and they over float my plate with it! I definitely will not be back to this place! I recommend you think twice before to eat or order at this place.!

I try to be fair and considerate before leaving negative reviews, but I can't rationalize the poor experience here. No greeting when we walked into an almost empty place. Our order was taken - Loco Moco and Garlic Butter Shrimp. Cash only. No receipt. No "thank you". Loco Moco - The gravy was watery and bland. The eggs were poorly cooked. The meat was so tough it broke the plastic fork. Garlic Butter Shrimp - The rice was ok. The macaroni salad was bland. The shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. The garlic butter sauce was pretty good but barely enough. We dined in. The table next to us was left dirty. Flies started to swarm around us as we started to eat. We couldn't finish. Trashed it all and left. Such a sad experience -- very uncharacteristic of businesses in Hale'iwa.

This place definitely deserves its 2 star rating. First off it's cash only which is odd these days but I get it if you are trying to avoid credit card fees but I don't think that's the case here. Secondly their forks all broke on us. Out of 4 forks 3 broke. We ended up having to use our forks from dole because we didn't want to ask for more. The orders all came out one at a time so one person started eating then the next then the next. The place only had one other person while we were there so business doesn't seem to be that great. For 3 of us with 2 regular katsu and one mini with no drinks it was about $37. For $37 we should have forks that don't break.

We were at the Haleiwa L&L. We were served by the most sour faced woman. Not a hint of a smile even when I smiled as I gave her my order. (No spirit of Aloha here!) I asked for soy sauce she gave me one small packet for a large bbq mixed plate. I asked for a second soy and a second fork (there were two of us), she glared at me as she gave them! The place was old and messy, not clean looking. I should have walked out when I saw that. The food was the worst I have ever had at an L& L, and I've been to many. I can't believe L&L put their name and brand on this. It's put me off of L&L. I do not recommend!

Barbeque Chicken plate delicious. Generous portions. Tasty. My issue was they accept CASH ONLY. Very inconvenient. The person behind the counter just shrugged and muttered something about the credit machine. I personally witnessed a tourist family order over $70 worth of food and walk out because they didn't have enough cash on them. Wonder how many times that's happened? I don't travel with a lot of cash for security reasons and rely on credit cards for most of my purchases. I guess this franchise owner doesn't care about customer convenience. Too bad because the food was decent.
