I honestly love their Foods, I get 6 spicy ahi rolls everytime with the total of only $35. Sushi is excellent condition everytime, staff is always so friendly. Best place to get Great sushi in Hilo, Hawaii.Everywhere else actually sucks, an I lived here my whole life.

I believe these are the same people that own Ebisuya (BY FAR BEST SUSHI SPOT IN TOWN) so it was a welcomed surprise when I found out about Onaga Sushi. The convenient location and hours were very well received as Ebisuya's hours can get kind of sporadic and this place fills in the holes of their schedule nicely, as well as not having to go downtown and only to Puainakou. As for the sushi, they have more simple rolls here but they are very fairly priced and of great quality. Takeout only as it is a small little shop, but if you are used to Ebisuya you will be very happy with the quality of rolls here along with pricing. Customer service is excellent here and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I go here a ton and recommend it to everyone. A local business I am glad to support.

I heard that this is the same owners as ebisuya so I already knew that It was going to be great if that was the case! Very good! To me I think it's worth it, fresh taste, service. I ordered the 30 piece and it is said to be able to feed 2 people. 10/10 recommended and I'm definitely going back.

Great sushi! Super fresh fish, no fishy after taste or anything. The service was amazing as well -- very kind and fast! We ordered 3 different types of Nigiri's (Ebi, Imari & Tobiko) all of which were very tasty! Miso soup was delicious as well! Highly recommend!!

I go here for the sushi combo specials. The selection is perfect for my taste and comes with a bowl of miso soup! Two roll combo when I want a light dinner and three roll combo when I'm hungry. I keep forgetting to take pictures because as soon as I open the container all I want to do is dig in. One day soon I will post a photo but for now you'll just have to take my word for it.

Very good sushi and excellent service. The ahi, salmon, and hamachi were fresh and good quality. The salmon had that beautiful layer of delicious fat. The avocado was perfect, and the rice was cooked and prepared very well. You could see each individual grain but it was tender. The rolls had the right ratio of rice to sashimi. The price was absolutely right. This is not a sit down restaurant. It is take out only.

Be prepared to wait for your food. After ordering, the wait time is 25 to 30 minutes. I suggest you call in your order. You are greeted with "Irrashaimase" when you enter. Just like in Japan. Small place with only a counter so takeout only. Prices are kind of high but good quality. I think the sushi rice needs more vinegar. I ordered the Chirashi Don and the 26 piece set which includes 8 assorted nigiri and 18 hosomaki. They opened last December and occupies the former 5-Spice space on the side of Sack n Save.

Had their chirashi last weekend. It was great! Better pieces of hamachi and salmon than other fancier restaurants in town. Great value!

Onaga Sushi just opened this past December 2020 and my husband and I finally got to try them out! It's a small hole in the wall sushi place around the corner of Sack N Save in Hilo. We were politely greeted "irasshaimase!" (welcome to the store/come on in) upon entering the store. The employees were very kind and patient as we took some time to look over the menu (2 photos provided via their website and ones I took at the store) I went with the Sushi Combo Set B and my husband got the 3 Roll Combo Special and Nigiri. He got the Spicy Ahi, Spicy Salmon, and Spicy Hamachi as his roll choices and Ahi, Salmon, and Hamachi as his Nigiri choices. The fish tasted fresh and didn't look overly processed like some other places. You can tell they took the time to make the rolls, and especially forming the Nigiri, by how it looked. Not just slapping on a piece of fish onto the rice and calling it a day. Overall, as a sushi lover, I would definitely recommend this small sushi shop and come back for more! If you're in for a sushi fix and don't want to wait long, support local and eat at Onaga Sushi!

Great new place to get your fix. I got the 30 pc. Platter and a few eel rolls. Supper happy with the product and costumer service.

Ordered the 30 piece special along with avocado and cucumber roll, chicken teriyaki roll, and an assortment of nigiri - . Everything was good. Service was fast - of course the wait of 20 minutes was fine since I could see she was making it fresh - made to order. Will definitely be returning.

This is my new go to place for sushi. When I opened the first order of sushi the nice sushi rice smell was there and then I knew I will have some really good sushi, and I was 100% correct. The sushi was fresh and very tasty, the best I have had in Hilo and some of the best sushi I have had anywhere. I have been Japan many times and Onaga Sushi is as good as what I have had there. I just ordered sushi from there Saturday and I am getting my second order today, and plan to get many more orders of Sushi from Onaga Sushi. It is that good. Also, the staff are really very friendly which is a big plus.
