We visited The Temple several times while we were in Hilo in January 2023. Interesting and unknown cocktails are offered that tasted very good. There is a small but fine selection of delicacies to accompany your meal. They are not multi-course dishes; in terms of size and filling, they are more like European starters in both respects. The atmosphere and the charm of the location are something. It's difficult to describe. Go and feel. There's something relaxing about it.There's a bit of the Hilo lifestyle thrown in too. It's not like the tourist bars in Waikiki. There are locals here.Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian dishes.Parking: You can park on the side of the road in front of the building. Since we were able to reach The Temple on foot from the hotel, we can't say how much luck and time it took to get a parking space.

Great place for Big Island Brewing. If you want full bodied ales, stoutn Belgian, or bold red, this the place on Hilo. Very friendly bar next to a good looking restaurant. The BIB Red Sea of Cacao is not your usually red ale; much more like a porter. Yum!

Serena is probably the best bartender on the island. The food and service is always amazing.

Sadly, this place really did not work for us. It looked really nice and busy from the outside but the food was just plainly bad. We got a chevre flatbread, garlic shrimp and ahi carpaccio and they were all barely edible. The carpaccio had so much soy sauce you couldn't taste the fish at all. The flatbread was strangely sweet and covered in an inordinate amount of rucola.. staff was kind but very busy and it was hard to get their attention.

Fantastic food, innovative and interesting drinks, and the service and vibe are immaculate. Definitely worth checking out if you've got the budget for it.

Pretty decent spot. Prices on menu are not consistent with other menus. It seems like they are going thru price hikes. Two menus on my table had different prices. Food was overall good and drinks are strong. Highly recommend the pickle platter.

Small portions, soy sauce in all dishes, to be full, you need to order 2-3 dishes. Oysters are not worth the

Came in on a Saturday night at 945 was greeted and taken cared of by Brittany. She's an awesome bartender. Everything went amazing. Our experience ended on a sour note as we were rushed to finish our drinks by the other bartender who didn't even take care of us. She was very rude and sassy. Overall worth it!!!!!!!

Great service, food and atmosphere. Went here twice during our trip and will be back when we are on the island next. Only wish would have been a better IPA on draft.

The skinny: This place is solid. Good cocktails and drinks in a great location. The overview:We came here while visiting Hilo looking for some good food and craft cocktails - and The Temple Bar hits the nail on the head. We tried a few different things on the menu. The seared ribeye was delicious - a perfectly cooked medium rare, tender, and paired with a yummy Chimichurri sauce that we kept and dipped everything else in. Other highlights were the seared oyster mushrooms and the pan fried kalo cassava (light in flavors but we were really into it). The garlic shrimp itself was yummy, but a little less garlicky than we wanted (we were hoping for the super garlicly shrimp that you can get in honolulu) and on the smaller side (doesn't come with rice). Overall everything we had was solid.Would I come back: Yes! We almost came back again in our short time in Hilo.

Excellent food, nice restaurant. Comfy and cozy. I love the flatbreads, especially the Smokey flatbread.

Accommodated our large group. Service was great. Food is amazing and the drinks, you can't get them anywhere else. Such a great little hideaway in hilo.

The mixed drinks were fun and tasty but the price was higher than we expected even for being in Hawaii ($19 for a cocktail); so we didn't get any food and went elsewhere after our first. But the bartender was very friendly and I liked the open-air vibe the bar had with the front windows open.
