A descent sushi spot though the wait was long. We went on Christmas Eve but I imagine this place is always packed. Good food and good drinks. The tea options were very average but certainly a place right off Waikiki if you want sushi with vegan options!

The food was not worth the wait. The garlic salmon was salty and the taste of the burnt garlic was overpowering. Miso soup salty. The salad was light and tasty.

The garlic chicken teishoku is unbeatable! Very flavorful and the meal gives you a good bang for your buck! If you’re a fan of chicken katsu or chicken teishoku this is a place to check out! You may have to wait a few minutes for a table but it is definitely worth it!

I came here with open mind and was pleasantly surprised that was very good. However service was sloooow. Waiter did his best during peak time but just too many people for him to survive. Lady receptionist did walk around to tables but oddly enough she never asked or talked to anyone on whether we needed anything so left not know what her job was.

The fish was so fresh and all of the food was so delicious. I'd highly recommend to eat at Hatsuhana if you're in the area. Note - the breakfast and lunch menu are different from the dinner menu. We went around 5:30 PM and wait about 15-20 minutes. We sat right by the sushi chefs where we got to watch them prepare the food in front of us. The salmon in the salmon and avocado hand roll was melt in your mouth delicious and fresh. The spicy tuna roll was spicy but definitely super tolerable. Overall, would highly recommend eating at Hatsuhana.

Pay as you enter, up front, is a little odd for the location. It is also understaffed, long wait times for your food result. So why the 5 stars? My wife literally cried over how good the sushi was. Dragon roll, order it. Everything else was also very good but that was the star. Hurt the wallet a bit but still one of the best sushi places we ate at all week.

I was second in line to be seated on a Sunday evening at 6:40 pm. The family of 6 in front of me and I waited to be recognized or advised of the wait time for 25 solid minutes. Numerous employees continuously walked past us with no acknowledgment. It was clearly evident that they were understaffed and overwhelmed. Frustrated, we all left and walked next door to Blue Water Shrimp where the staff was attentive and the food was excellent.

Fun and tasty! Our server excelled at his pace! He was super busy, as was the other guy running his butt off trying to help all the customers, which they both did gracefully with smiles. Not a quick service place but it's vacation, in Hawaii, so it was relaxed and we enjoyed our food. Fun place to try! Everyone around us seemed to enjoy the sushi too!!

"Hatsuhana offers an average dining experience. The grilled items may not be exceptional, but the sushi is good. Given its location in the Hawaiian village, one might expect better quality. The service is satisfactory, and the location is convenient. If you decide to dine here, I would recommend sticking to the sushi for a more enjoyable meal."

I ate the breakfast buffet. All of them were delicious and tasted just like the ones I eat in Japan. The tofu was especially delicious! I thought it was amazing that there were familiar things like furikake and pickles, and you could also make ochazuke. The staff was checking the food table from time to time and cleaning it to make sure it wasn't dirty. The store was also clean.I would like to go there for lunch or dinner next time.
