A small hole in the wall restaurant in Chinatown, Yield is a an amazing find. We grabbed a delicious Dutch baby, soft scrambled eggs, and a farmers breakfast. The portions sizes are perfect, but you just might want more because the food is that tasty. Super courteous staff, friendly server. This is a keeper for sure Parking is hard to find, but that's just Chinatown for you.

Sometimes when a client cancels in an appointment is such a hassle but today it was actually perfect since i've had this place bookmarked for ever and since they only open till 3pm i never had the time to stop by! .... till today! Here the reviews: *Ambience: place is cute inside and they have an outside seating. Kinda hard to find from the outside since their name on the door is super tiny that if you wear glasses, you would miss it. *Service: 10+ points! The waiter was super nice and friendly! *Parking: none. *Food: *Steak and eggs ($22) The steak had a great flavor! Highly recommend it. The meat is not as tender as other restaurants but you are not paying hundreds either so i guess makes sense. *Gnocchi "mac n" cheese ($12) I love home made gnocchi! This one was delicious and the sauce it came with was so good i wanted to lick the plate! *Dutch baby (free with yelp check in) Omg! Loved this one! And free even better! Overall, i havent ever been so happy a client cancels on me! It was worth it! Will come back to try their other items in their menu!

This brunch place opened a few months ago and I've been meaning to check it out. It's in Chinatown with a rather understated exterior, there's only a big "Y" on the window. Inside is small and there's only about 6 or 7 tables. I got the soufflé omelette and it was the fluffiest omelette I've ever had! Portuguese sausage on the farmers breakfast was a little spicy but well cooked. Okras were yummy too. We also got the pickled veggies cause BF loves anything pickled. It was certainly interesting as I've never had pickled bitter melon before, I did enjoy the turnips but I probably wouldn't order that again. Service was excellent even though there was only one waiter. He was attentive and refilled my coffee promptly. Definitely recommend making reservations because of how small this place is, I'd definitely go there again!

YIELD: TO PRODUCE OR PROVIDE Yield reminds me of : 1 cup of friendly Omakase 1 cup of sexy, sophisticated downtown SF 1 cup southern comfort + hospitality 3 cups of cool Local Aunty and Uncles house. There is definitely something special about the atmosphere that is uniquely their own. It goes beyond what I have seen in a lot of Honolulu restaurants since moving back a year ago. I had the steak, soft scramble, and grilled veggies. The chef asked me how I liked it so I got medium. The summer veggies, grilled to perfection. Each bite was beautifully seasoned but with the natural flavors of the vegetables coming through wonderfully. The soft scramble was new to me. I learned something new about how eggs could be cooked! EGGCELLENT!!! The steak itself... Where is the hungryhungryhawaiian instagram so I can do the cheehuu challenge? Juicy AF, super nice flavor, better than some steak houses. I love the presentations with all the herbs. When it was time for the dessert, I was told if I check in on yelp, I could get a free Dutch Baby!!! I don't know what a Dutch baby is but sure why not. First off, anything served to me in a iron skillet... FIRE! Second, it was smothered in this Keylime crème anglaise. I don't know wha that is either but after first bite, my jaw dropped, eyes rolled back and I Keylime crème anglaise'd myself. #sorrynotsorry By the end of meal, I thought I was full human... turns out I may also be part dish washer. I mopped up and cleaned the plates all spic and span. I must double check with 23 and me.

Our first visit to Yield was good! I also got a free dutch baby with Yelp check-in! #thanksyelp We tried their avo toast, steak & eggs & side house made Portuguese sausage. They were kind enough to make hot tea for my mom since they didn't serve decaf coffee. I thought the steak was seasoned & cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the veg that accompanied the steak include their cream of tatsoi. I was glad we went on a Sunday & found free street parking! I'd definitely return to try other dishes!

This place is now one of our go to breakfast place! The food is above the usual steak and eggs- they offer pretty neat choices. We had the soufflé omelet which was light and fluffy. The egg app inside was so creamy! It was served with greens and tomatoes. The greens and eggs made for a great flavor combo. We also had the Baby Foster Dutch baby. It was served with banana (I think it was local apple banana), cinnamon and other spices and fresh whipped cream. Oh man that was soo good. A must try. It wasn't overly sweet and the local banana was perfect. The service was spot on- enthusiastic and friendly. Our food came out in good time considering everything was made to order. The place is small- 4 tables plus a bar you can sit at and watch the chef. Parking on the street or a short walk if you park in the Smith St underground municipal lot. Caveat-The prices are a bit high for breakfast Even so it's a solid place to get a good breakfast

So.. I was in between 3 and 4 stars. Quick summary: good food, small portions, high price, mediocre service. My mom, sister, and 2 of my bridesmaids decided to try this place out for brunch while we discuss wedding shower planning. I saw pictures of this place and was so excited to try it :) The restaurant is very tiny, so this place would not be great for bigger parties (unless you reserved the whole space). The waiter told us the fresh juice of the day was starfruit, orange, pineapple and ginger, and, being a huge lover of juice, I got it. It was very refreshing and had unique flavors. We decided to order several things: dutch baby, some kind of eggplant toast, papaya salad, and soft-scrambled eggs with bread. DUTCH BABY: this was the star of the whole meal.. I make dutch babies at home, but the crème anglaise sauce they have over the dutch baby makes it SO delicious, and our table shamelessly ordered another one to share after demolishing the first one haha EGGPLANT TOAST: this was a very tiny portion (maybe 3 small bites), and was about $8. Considering the price, I thought it was too small of a portion PAPAYA SALAD: I had a bite of the papaya salad (not a huge fan of papaya salads), but the miso dressing was good. SOFT SCRAMBLED EGGS WITH SIDE BREAD: this was another delicious choice... the soft scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and topped with some diced tomatoes and seasoning. The bread they served with it was delicious and perfect for dunking it into the eggs. However, I asked for a side of sourdough bread, and they said it would be about 25 minutes. Since we were in no rush, I said I don't mind the wait. 45 minutes later, I asked about it and they said another 5 minutes or so... then 5 minutes or so later, I asked another waiter and he said bread wasn't even being made (huh??). I asked if I can just have any bread to eat my scrambled eggs with. Then the original waiter confirmed bread was in the oven. (okay.. we were all confused because we saw other tables have bread pieces) Finally, about 10 minutes later, they gave me a very teeny tiny end piece of bread on a plate. one. lonely. piece. hahah. So yea... I waited over an hour for a tiny piece of sourdough bread.. which, didn't even taste like sourdough, it tasted a bit sweet and did not have a good bread flavor. SO while some of the food dishes and their fresh juice is delicious, the spotty service made us question if we'd come back. While the dutch baby and soft scrambled egg are delicious, we might be better off going elsewhere with better service, better price to portion ratios, and parking options.

While I may not fully understand the restaurant's name, I heartily applaud the amazing food being churned out of the rustic open kitchen! This place is all about breakfast and brunch, and lately I've been hungering for the morning delights even at lunch! So yay for Yield! Here, the incredible edible egg is revered. In my kale Florentine, two sunny side eggs were served with garlicky sautéed kale and dollops of goat cheese. Mixed all together, the runny eggs cooked from the heat and still appeared a pretty dish. Served with fresh baked bread, it just hit the spot! The bday girl ordered the Fieldman's breakfast which highlighted the eggs, roasted vegetables and a heart shaped bread, so adorable! We had to laugh when we figured out how they created that shape. Oh, yah, our piece de resistance was the Dutch Baby! This delicate and rich dish features a thin pancake with a creamy topping that, one taste, will make you not want to share four ways. There is limited seating inside and no discernible air conditioner but I would so go back!! Caution: this restaurant is in Chinatown so be prepared for some of the challenges that come with the location.

Excellent office space. Cool industrial interior design. Outdoor meeting patio (to enjoy Hawaii's extraordinary weather).

Two local gentlemen, Kale and Patrick embark on a food serving journey using only LOCAL source of product. I mean Hawaiian chicken for the eggs, Hawaii vegetable farms for the fruits and vegetables and Hawaiian bakers for the wonderful bread! Here is my story: Dined here twice. My first visit was for breakfast. My breakfast partner and I were going to order the entire menu to try but it was politely recommended that we pick from the pre-fixe menu; that way, we would have 60% of the menu to taste. My second visit was a private dinner for about 20 of us. We had the pleasure of sampling a variety of tapas of which some are currently served during their breakfast and lunch service and the others were a preview of what is to come once they are ready for their dinner service. I won't get into the detail of the courses as it has been already said and written in other reviews. I will however extend accolades to Patrick, Kale and their staff for their upbeat attitude and personality, for their efforts to make you feel comfortable in their establishment and their constant attention to growth and upward mobility. IMHO, they've done a great job on the decor. It's a relatively small space but its a productive floor plan and design. They have a nice clean breakfast/lunch menu and as I mentioned everything is farm to table all local. Street and municipal parking available. Keep your eye out on this place and for their future dinner hours.

Yet another new restaurant in the downtown scene. The owner also owns various other restaurants, so he's not new kid on the block. My friend Pam M. Is always the one introducing me to new places, so I am glad to have her as my lighting bulb. We tried the kale Florentine and egg soufflé, both are very good.

Wow, where do I start? This place rocks and I highly recommend it without any hesitation. The food is unbelievable, the service is friendly and awesome, and the ambience is chilled. We arrived without a reservation and there was only table left (because it is a small building but working on expanding). We informed them that one of our friend was on her way and expected them not to seat us until all the parties were present like everyone does even when they are less than 10 minutes away. Instead, we were seated based on our word that the friend was just looking for parking. The host thoroughly explained each dish that we asked about - and we asked about many because they take pride in ensuring that their food is different than everyone else's. We ultimately ordered the omelette with fresh veggies, steak and eggs, and the Dutch Baby with a side order of Portuguese sausage. Also ordered the coffee and the mint-ginger lemonade. Everything was so delicious and surprisingly, despite basic ingredients, the food tasted anything but basic. The steak and eggs come with roasted or grilled veggies and creamy Asian green (there's a name for it but I forgot what it is - tastes like spinach dip but much more creamy). The steak was perfectly cooked and the marinade was good. Kept trying to figure out the seasoning but I couldn't do it: it was different than the usual herbs. The creamy veggie was now my favorite. I dipped t with the steak and my sausage and the combo was perfect. The omelette is more like a soufflé and has feta cheese. Again, it looks simple and like any other omelette you've had until you're first bite. I'm not a fan of cheese but this was not overwhelming. The roasted tomato was delicious and the salad had an interesting taste to it. Finally, we saved the Dutch Baby for dessert. It's something like a crepe but thicker. It rises when baked and then falls in the middle when removed from oven. It's then topped off with a zesty lime sauce that's also sweet. The coffee is generic but they are always making sure you are topped off. The lemonade is STRONG - it's good but strong so be aware of that before you order. I would order it again. Despite being Chinatown, there's two municipality parking on either side of the block. Go check this place out. For the unique menu and the friendly guys working behind the counter, this place is worth the hassle of going into Chinatown.

Took a quick stop at YIELD Restaurant in Chinatown for brunch. I've heard some decent things about this place and opted to give it a try. The ceviche was made with moi. Served with mizuna, cherry tomatoes, and pickled onions. The flavor was nice, there was a bright citrus flavor that you expect from a ceviche, but palatable where you could keep eating without assaulting your taste buds with the acidity. I'd get this again. Smoked eggplant crostini was deliciously satisfying. Electing to steer away from the commonplace of an avocado or tomato based toast, the smoked eggplant provided a lovely flavor with some smoky depth. Yes to this. The Cashew Cheese platter was interesting to us because it was vegan. While I applaud the effort I make their own cheese, it couldn't quite get into it. By far the best thing on the plate we're the pickled vegetables made from heart of palm, celery, radish, and cashew apples. I'd probably not choose this one again. Up next? The duck egg omelette. Cooked to utter perfection. Filled with bits of feta. Not a trace of brown outside and silky deliciousness on the inside. Simple and understated preparation to highlight the richness of the duck egg itself. Yes yes yes. Finally, the Kale Florentine was quite good. The mix of seasoned kale, egg, and goat cheese provided an excellent topper to sourdough toast. A nice mix of richness and heartiness was very much filling and satisfying. Another dish I would order again. Overall - the experience was pleasant. The service was quick and attentive, although a little more engaging conversation could be desired. Leaning toward hipster tendencies in the decor made me a little dubious as to what to expect as far as the food. But thankfully, the dishes (most of them at least), provides a strong argument for those looking for a meal worth biting in to.

Although they are just starting out, I can already tell this place is gonna be a hit! After hearing great things about this place from a friend, I knew I needed to check it out ASAP. Yield is a small, trendy spot located in Chinatown near Fete and Encore. Our server mentioned that the restaurant prides itself on being truly farm-to-table and sourcing all their ingredients from local producers. Awesome! The place itself has limited seating and an open kitchen. Service: Incredible! Our server was extremely attentive and helpful and explained to us not only the items on the menu, but more about the restaurant itself. It seemed like all the workers were knowledgable and truly passionate about what they do, which made for a great experience! Food: Delicious! I tried the Kale Florentine, which was good (although I'm not sure I'd order it again..) and Smoked Eggplant Crostini (yum..recommend!!) Though the portions are pretty small, the flavors were yummy and all of their bread is baked fresh in house :) Overall, great quality food and flavors but even better service. I can't wait to come back once they get their ball rolling and begin opening for dinner!
