Good quality ingredients, nice staff, ridiculously overpriced compared to other spots on the island. I wouldn't recommend it for the price or ambiance.

My wife and I went here for an omazing omakase feast. From the warm welcome to witnessing the culmination of chef’s 30+ years magically appearing just as we finished the previous delectable bite, Kim Chan Sushi is a true epicurean experience.

Omakase! Top grade! No complaints, wishing I had a bottomless stomach to eat more. Very intimate no frills straight to the sushi. Has a closed set time but if you keep eating and drinking they will keep serving. A place if you’re serious about quality over quantity.

Prior to making our reservation, we explored their menu. The website did have any prices, but it was obvious that they offered a la carte. When we arrived at the restaurant (opens at 5:30pm), we waited for about 10 minutes to open (the door opened at 5:40pm). My husband and I looked forward to ordering a la carte but were told they only have Omakase dinner. I was disappointed at this point. My husband decided on a Full Omakase, and I had Omakase (sushi only). This restaurant has NO menu and NO prices. The wait time to receive the items was absolutely preposterous. It took approximately an hour and a half to consume seven pieces of sushi. The appetizers and the grilled fish that came with the Full Omakase were terrible. I was still hungry, yet could not deal with the wait time of the sushi items. We decided to leave the restaurant and asked for the check. Our bill ended up close to $300 and had to go over the items we received and didn't (we were caught by surprise and disappointment).

This little gem has got to be one of my fave sushi omakase spots. They are located in the Waterfront plaza across of the Row Bar. We had so many great plates including otoro, uni, scallops, and so much more. The cool thing is that you can tell them when to stop - or to keep going. They also have some good sake and beer that go well with the sushi. It can be pretty pricey if you keep adding plates but in regards to the quality of the fish, it's totally worth it. The chef/owners are really nice and the service was great. Will definitely be back soon.

I don't normally post bad reviews but I had to share our experience with our fellow Yelper family. This place has NO menu and NO prices. True to form, they are an Omakase only diner which means you pay for the dishes that are eaten. My husband and I were interested in an omakase style dinner and had a good experience at another restaurant earlier in the week. Decided to give this place a try and boy, were we caught by surprise and disappointment! Our bill ended up being close to $475!!! With 2 glasses of sake (which we had asked for pricing in advance ~20/glass and the remaining was the omakase. Receipt was in Japanese and could not figure out what we actually paid for. Fish was mediocre and not fresh as some of the other places we've been to. They cooked and torched most of the fish, which makes you really wonder if it's fresh at all. Anyway, this is just a heads up. Be prepare to pay for an overpriced dining experience.

This is possibly the best sushi restaurant in the entire state. Expect an authentic Japanese experience. The owner and sushi chef barely speaks English but is super skilled and interesting. His wife is super polite and knows her sakes very well. It's omakase only (definitely get the one with sashimi), seats 8 people, and you have to stop the chef when you're full otherwise he'll keep preparing sushi for you. Go on an empty belly and try as much as possible!

This place is amazing!!! Not only is the sushi soooo good, but so is the service. Our server, George, was so attentive, never let us go without, and did it all with a smile! Seriously, if you decide to visit you need to ask for George! So happy we live right across the street and get to eat here all the time!

Kin Chan is the cutest OG さん sushi sensei you've ever met. Best service and omakase spot I've had. Better than Japan spots I've been to. The space reminds me of a quaint, clean home. It's personalized and cozy. This is a hidden gem. Bring on the ōtoro!

One of the best sushi I have had in Hawaii. We are sushi lovers so we have been trying to go try every good sushi restaurant in Hawaii. FYI, Master chef, Kinji-san, speaks little English and his wife is shy so you just have to break the ice and they will warm up to you. He is quite a character. The portion is more than generous and each piece of sushi is simple, yet has so distinct and amazing flavor. They only do Omakase so no menus, but you can ask what you like to have on your Omakase course. Also, no Sake menus. The reason behind that (which is clever) is he wants customers to see the actual bottles of Sake displayed right by the sushi counter and choose based on what you see and hear from the master chef by asking questions. He doesn't like when he orders sake and they bring it to you from behind the kitchen, not knowing how old (or maybe expired) the sake might be. Price is reasonable given how much we ate and drank. We felt we are too much cuz we wanted to try everything. It was about $610 for two with Sake before tips. What we had there would have been $900 + at other places we went. If we ate and drank moderately it would have been much cheaper. Def highly recommended. We have been to Hihimanu, Ginza Onodera and Sushi Sho (the place is a joke), and a fee others but Kin Chan is def on our top 3.

WOW !!! I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Incredibly authentic omakase. Chef is from Japan - best most fresh fish I’ve ever had. Incredible sake selection. Truly amazed. This place is a hidden gem!!!

Best sushi that I've had in a long time. Fresh and high quality. Great presentation and complexity of flavors. Wow!

Omakase was the best I've ever tries. Ran by a husband and wife in a small bar setting. There is probably like 8-10 total seats and it's pretty tucked away in a plaza - kind of a hole in the wall sense. Amazing experience. Chef paced our appetites and took us on a sensational journey starting with lighter flavors moving onto more rich tones. Drinks were flowing and smiles all around in this intimate setting.
