The food was really delicious and the price is reasonable. The little lady at the front counter was friendly and welcoming.

I have been to Kokomo-tei several times and every time I go, their bentos never disappoint. This last visit, I got the steak bento with the wafu sauce. Wait time wasn't too bad and the workers there are always so nice and friendly. The steak with the wafu sauce was absolutely delicious. It hit the spot for lunch.

Great little bento shop that makes your food fresh upon ordering. Wait was about 15 minutes so call ahead or order online if you can. Great assortment of options and perfect to pickup on your way to or from the beach. There is no dining area, takeout only. The food was delicious!!

Great place to pick up bentos for an event!recently when I've asked to pick up around 10 orders, vendors have made me wait 15 minutes but not here. the bentos were actually all ready, still warm too, when I showed up 5 minutes beforehand.amazing service.I'd place an order online on their website a day or 2 before if you plan to order a lot.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian option actually tasted good !

Very authentic flavours, best Japanese bento I have ever had. Rice is topped with bonito flakes and then blanketed with nori. I would eat here every day if I were Kama‘āina. Only critique is that the salmon was overcooked, but everything else makes up for it.

Kokoro-Tei is located on Beretania and share the bldg with Teddy's and Little Caesars. Lots of free parking by Teddy's. This great establishment is a Japanese Bento take-out only fast food restaurant. Their food is exquisite and the prices are the legit "Cheap Eats!" Be sure to check their "Daily Specials" menu. It's my "go-to" whenever I'm in the town area! I promise you won't be disappointed.

I'll be honest. I didn't know how I would like this place as bentos usually don't have enough food in them to be worth the price that people charge. With this place, man 12 bucks for regular bentos and I think it's 2.50 for multigrain rice, which i got, is so delicious. I ended up getting the veggie plate with multigrain rice and boy I was actually blown away by how good it was and my wife had the steak bento with multigrain rice and she loved it. The quality of food here is awesome. This is one of the most affordable and best tasting places that sell bentos I've had. I'm def coming back here when I can. Next time I'll post a pic of the food I get and add another review! If you love bentos but hate paying the 20 dollar price tag for half a bento with mostly rice, this is def worth the try!!

Kokoro-Tei is a popular go-to for large parties and business meetings--I can definitely see why. Each bento is affordable and HEFTY. I got the Nori Kara Deluxe, which comes with 5pc chicken, 2pc chikuwa, and 1pc fried fish. My favorite item was definitely the chikuwa, but even that was pretty standard. Unfortunately, even though there was a lot of chicken in the bento, each piece was INCREDIBLY DRY and difficult to eat. Overall, not my favorite bento catering, but will do the job in a pinch. I also appreciate the variations offered here.

Sent my husband to purchase lunch. He said it was made fresh. It was still warm when he got home. Good size portion, especially for the price. Very tasty.

I decided to try this spot after a friend of mine recommended it. The food was exception and the old Japanese woman was so sweet. I ordered a chicken karaage and curry combo with white rice as well as a ginger miso grilled chicken and rice bento! Both of which were incredibly flavorful, healthy, and simple. I prefer the chicken karaage over the grilled chicken as it was much crispier and salty. The curry was delicious, but just slightly too sweet for my palate. I would have preferred more spice or saltiness in the curry. You can park right in the parking lot on the other side of Teddy's or right along the street. I highly recommend calling ahead and placing an order. I originally thought it would be a place with pre-made bentos to just walk in and pick one. This is not the case. Everything is made fresh and ready to order. The ambiance is very small, crowded, and dark designed to only be a space for ordering or picking up, so be prepared to take your food to go. Also, the hours are a little odd, so be sure to check online beforehand if they are open. Overall, for the flavor, price, and portions, this place was awesome!

Looking for a healthy, delicious Japanese bento? Look no further! I've been coming to this hidden gem takeout place near Beretania and Isenberg (same building as Teddy's Bigger Burgers with a convenient parking lot on the side) for years. It's a favorite of my work colleagues, and we regularly place and pick up orders (phone or online) when we eat together. They have a wide range of tasty seafood, meat, and vegetables bentos, but the true stars are all the homemade sozai (vegetable side dishes) they make each day. As such, my favorite bento is the Salmon and Healthy Vegetable (with multigrain rice), so I get plenty of the sozai. Other recommendations include the Ginger Pork Bento, the various Nori Bento, and the Hamburger Steak bento.
