[MAI LAN] Enjoy Vietnamese cuisine using Hawaiian ingredients. The famous crab curry is exquisite! ?I love American Asian food. So, I went to MAI LAN, a Vietnamese restaurant located about 15 minutes north of Ala Moana Center. The atmosphere is very deep and the cluttered interior is very Asian. They seem to be particular about the ingredients, with water spinach grown in Hawaii and shrimp also grown in Hawaii. The Vietnamese crepe with crispy pork and shrimp is also delicious. The main dish is the famous crab curry. The richly flavored crab curry made with a large Canadian crab is seriously delicious.Enjoy it to the end by dipping it on bread or pouring it over fried rice from the secret menu. The mango pudding is also rich with Hawaiian mango.Hawaii! I feel more relaxed here than in a store lol=======It's like this with 6 people.・RAU MUON XAO $17.00Stir-fried water spinach・TOM CANG BUN TAU $39.50Spicy shrimp and vermicelli hotpot・BANH XEO $19.50Vietnamese crepe with shrimp pork bean sprouts・CARY CUA Market Pricecrab curry・Fried RiceSecret menu fried rice・BANH SOAI $4.50×3mango puddingLiquor・Long Board $5.00

First time visit and will return. We met owner Sam, who was delightful. He was very welcoming and accommodated my husband's vegan requests. The Ong Choi vegan style was delicious, as was the soup noodle dish with veg broth and tofu. I enjoyed the lemongrass beef on vermicelli noodles. Veggies fresh and stir-fried just right. Good portions. Free parking. Atmosphere a 3 just because the shop front/entrance looked a bit run down. We almost didn't go in, but glad we did. Don't be fooled by the exterior.

This is a restaurant with a story. It is a must-eat restaurant for many Japanese friends. Some people don’t know yet. Seafood and crab are their favorite, especially with bread. Come and try it. There are many photos of celebrities taking photos on the wall. The boss has StoryParking: There are free parking spaces outside the restaurant, but there are not many places.

I went back for the first time in 6 years, and I thought the $86 crab curry was really expensive! Because my time coincided with a group, there were not enough staff and the service was poor. It was a shame?

Very ono Banh Cuon, authentic and presentation is nice. This is a shareable appetizer, but since my companion was too busy scarfing down the delectable crispy spring rolls, he didn't mind that I ate it all! The Banh Cuon was made very fresh, the fresh salad toppings of mint, cucumber, shredded lettuce for it was the perfect accompaniment for this dish. The banh cuon was fresh, stuffed with the perfect amount of savory ground pork and thinly diced shiitake mushroom; the nuoc cham dressing binds all the flavors together for this dish. I regret not taking a picture of this dish and the spring rolls! I also had their desert with the red and white agar/jello with coconut milk and ice---very refreshing and not overly sweet. The other dish that I come here for is the Bun Rieu....gotta try it!

I can't believe how hospitable this restaurant is!! It was Xmas eve day and my family were rushing to find an open restaurant at 9 pm! They just got off the plane and wanted viet food and at first we were supposed to get Thai food but my dad saw this restaurant coming off of H2 and said let's loop here! When we got to the front door it was locked yet we saw people inside and the owner waved us to come in.

This restaurant is famous for its crab curry.Ken Takakura is especially famous among Japanese people.I ordered crab curry market price, Ken Takakura's favorite fried rice, fried spring rolls, and diet coke. For two people, this was enough to fill them up.This is a store I would like to visit again.

I came here looking for Vietnamese food because I wanted something light. It was very tasty and authentic, but a lot of it was kind of greasy and didn't quite match my mood. .The fresh spring rolls are light, the dumplings are a little heavy because they have flavored oil on top, and the crepes are heavy because they have a fried skin wrapped in lettuce. . The chicken curry my husband ordered was visibly greasy. The pho also had some oil on it.Did I choose wrong? Also, the quantity is large, so the price is quite high. Ordering 5 items will cost you $100, or about 15,000 yen (includes tip). .The restaurant itself has a local feel, so even though it can't be helped due to inflation and the weak yen, I felt it was expensive.Parking: You can park at the gas station right next door.

The Vietnamese food at Mai Lan is undoubtedly authentic and aromatic. We tried Pork Dumplings, Vietnamese crepes, Chicken Curry, Spring rolls, and Chicken Pho. The dishes are large. Good service.Parking: Park at the Texaco gas station past Mai Lan.

The restaurant has an atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in Vietnam or China, but the food was filling and delicious! ️I ordered fried spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, crab curry, stir-fried water spinach, shrimp vermicelli soup, and chicken pho.Crab curry has a rich coconut flavor and is best served with rice or bread.Water spinach has a garlic flavor, comes in large quantities, and is delicious. There is a Japanese menu.I was so absorbed in eating that I forgot to take a photo?

The food is a shock to the taste buds. The food is like nothing you've seen before, but still delicious! The employees are easy-going people, serving delicious food to your table. Come to this place now; you will have a sixth sense: a craving for yummy crab curry with bread to dip.

Who knew? Clearly over 40 years of doing business in the same location, you will find Mai Lan Fine Vietnamese Cuisine. This establishment has been owned, run and chef'd by Sam Yu for those amount of years, maybe more. I remember visiting him years ago with friends who patronized Mai Lan. The food was good back then and is just as good today. The menu and the general style of cooking and taste remains the same and on par with what everyone speaks of. The decor is simple. Nothing fancy but clean and that's the main thing. It appears as a "Mom and Pop" type place.... I think Mr. Yu wants to keep Mai Lan's image in that light. I just have one suggestion and a must if you are dining at Mai Lan and its CURRY CRAB. Nuf said

The worst Ban Xeo I have ever had! It was burnt, the shrimp and chicken were dry, the lettuce too small to wrap and when the owner was notified, he was not interested in what I had to say!!!! The famous curry is salty.
