Called for a large order and it was ready when I went to pick it up. They packaged it in a box for me and even brought it out to my car. Everyone enjoyed their bentos Thank you so much! I'll be back!

The food is great I love their chow fun and fried chicken. The chow fun is not greasy at all our perfection just like the chicken. My husband is always buying the chicken for his lunches. The service is also awesome great family. The ambience is low down chill just be yourself and you'll enjoy the food please give it a try this month soon.

I saw the good reviews so I got a bunch of stuff from here but nothing had flavor. The chow fun tasted like pepper only, the musubi was just a regular musubi, the fried chicken was good but on the hard side, the hash didn't taste like anything, I don't remember what else I got but idk maybe I should try again based on how opposite my review was from everyone else maybe I just came on a bad day

Everything is good at Matsumoto's! I have not been disappointed yet. I always hope I will run into Dan O., but I never do. Came on Saturday which is out of my norm, (m-f early morn) and prayed all the way here that there would be open storefront parking. I was blessed. Wide open! Today's order consisted of chowfunn, fried chicken, shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, veggie tempura, ume musubi, and hamburger. Matsumoto's never disappoints. Everything is always so yummy! Parking is challenging on the weekdays, but I take the chance and sometimes I get lucky. My coworker ALWAYS gets the stall right out front, and since she's been picking up the food, I've not gone in a while, but I'm determined to get that front row stall & get my grindage!

Despite the "BAD" news I received lately: "Matsumoto's Okazuya will be closing. DON'T know when...", I felt compelled to share some HONEST feelings. I am "old school" growing up eating at okazuyas, lunch rooms, drive-inns, cafes, etc. And I have eaten at okazuyas my WHOLE life AND all over Oahu and most at neighbor islands. ONE of my radio commercials done on Uncle Tom Moffatt's radio program, Saturday mornings around the years of 2012, on the "oldies" channel, was about "OKAZU-YA's". And while I will admit that Matsumoto's doesn't have the variety that Fukuyas or Sekiyas has, Matsumoto's is DEFINITELY "oishi-i" (ono-licious) AND reasonable. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT!!! ONE of my favorites, is the Matsumoto BIG Bento. (And of course I add on Mac salad, Namasu, and Gobo) Whooo!!! A message to TODD (owner): You've worked HARD all your life, you've done the community a GREAT service by serving GREAT, REASONABLE food for MANY years, if you retire soon, it will be a HUGE injustice. SOO MANY people will be saddened by having to patronize "other" okazuyas, it WILL create a "HUMUNGOUS" void in our lives. SO PLEASE RECONSIDER, AND STAY ON FOR A FEW MORE YEARS!!! (Maybe 5-10 at least?) MAHALO for adding to my happy waistline, Milt Yamamoto.

I know this place has been around for years!! The test of time is a good indication that a place has good food and fair prices and Matsumotos Okazuya definetely tells that tale. Its just a small hole in the wall Okazuya that has stood the test of time. Limited menu of all affordable good quality tasty grinds. Okazuya selections and variety of bentos..all good ol old skool ... just remember cash only for some tasty grinds

Finally found a place that reminds me of my childhood back in the 80's. I can't believe I never tried this place. They got the BEST chow fun that I've been looking for and their fried chicken is TASTY and CRUNCHY, a nice compliment to the noodles. My mini plate costs less than $10, which also included vegetable tempura. I go early in the morning after 6 am before I start work and stop by if there is street parking in the front of Matsumoto's. You can also call in your order before you arrive and they only take cash. Also recently saw them on the news, as they prepared and delivered Thanksgiving meals to the homeless in their VW vans. Thank you Matsumoto's Okazuya & Restaurant for bringing back humble memories of my childhood, making great food and serving the community!

Drove from kaimuki just to eat here . The website said they was opened walked in there just for them to say they’re closed I had explained to them that the website said they are opened they just look lost . First & last time I’m ever going there . Rude , and they haven’t even write the hours of business on the door . Waste my time & gas .

2022 Okazuya Review #9:I'm almost at the end of my 2022 review series and I'm glad to have found Matsumoto's Okazuya. It's a couple blocks down the street from Gulick, while I'm not in the area frequently I must have passed Matsumoto's several times over the years. Great shop in a little building, parking can be tight on the street but walking a few steps for a solid bento is so worth it. On this Saturday morning I pull up at around 8 am, no one out front so easy to park and walk up/order.Food: Solid menu with a lot of my favorite dishes. Nori Musubi, Inari sushi, chow fun, egg omelet, veg tempura, hamburger patty, hash, fish patty, potato mac salad, kimchee sausage, fried chicken, and seafood spring rolls in our two boxes. Veg Tempura was well executed, chow fun had good flavor, potato mac was great, and the fried chicken was as good as the reviews stated. The patties were just okay as well as the hash. Overall food was solid.Service: You can call in your order or drive up. My first time but ask if you don't see something, they are or probably can prepare it for you. Good service, friendly, fast, and accommodating. A note for you card users, they are cash only, it was good I had some on me this morning!Atmosphere: Roadside shop, park, hop out, get your food, and get going again. The shop itself is closed to customers, you place your order at the door. From what I could see everything inside looked bright and clean.Value: In line with the majority of other Okazuya's in my list. Two generous plates came to around $37 with enough left overs to make another meal for two. If you cover two people for two meals, that's less than $10 per meal.Overall: I'm happy to have stopped by, they also do catering and premade bento boxes which is a great option for an office lunch. My first time there but I will be back!

Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura, Fried chicken so delicious. Fried rice yumyum! You got to go early before it runs out. Hopefully they would offer or have ponzu sauce for the tempura.
