The ultimate Japanese treat... Minamoto Kitchoan is a kiosk in Kahala Mall and what a selection of Japanese sweets they have most are available year round though the ones that are seasonal is not to be missed and as you step closer it brings you the vibe as if you're in Japan. Currently there are various events such as Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day and Winter seasonal flavors so browsing around can get overwhelming but as soon as I saw them I knew exactly they were it and it was part of the Lunar New Year items..."Kingyo" which is goldfish in Japanese. This little work of art is just stunning as a goldfish is suspended in white grape jelly as is recommended best the eat it chilled though do you dare as it just lovely...enough that the five I've secured was placed on a tray and another lady who was behind me was asking about them and instantly sold her on them as well lol! The service here is so nice as I browse they will be there to answer any questions you may have and they do have a point system as well so take total advantage of that as well. Thank you!

When you’re looking for legit Japanese goodies to treat yourself or give as gifts, this is place to come to. Whenever I come to Kahala Mall, I make a beeline to this standalone kiosk to check out the latest offerings. With locations in Japan, New York and California, Minamoto specializes in wagashi, Japanese confections made with seasonal fresh fruit. On the day after Girl’s Day, they were sold out of the strawberry mochi boxes, but thankfully they still had several Sakura treats to try. Here’s what we tried in the order we sampled them:Sakura Goromo (Sakura Pancake): sweet bean paste, mochi and pickled cherry blossom leaf wrapped encased taco style in a pink pancake similar in texture to the Ethiopian bread injera but not as chewy. It was the most IG worthy, but there were more flavorful treats in the bunch.Ouka Shigure: steamed flour and egg yolk cake filled with cherry blossom infused white bean. Very delicate flavor, with a small cherry blossom on top.Sakura Mochi: this was a flavor bomb, due to the salted cherry blossom leaves wrapped around mochi rice and sweet red bean paste. My fave of the bunch.Beni Hogyoku: my second fave, glad I ended the tasting with this sweet, soft mochi encasing white bean paste and a whole cherry that was pickled in sugar.I gravitate toward the mochi, but I’m sure the baumkuchen cakes are just as amazing.

A little pricey but delicious and high quality products and friendly service.

Do not order the chocolate mochi, it is bad. The mochi is hard and the chocolate is not good. It is also $20 dollars for the box and a complete waste of money. The other mochis and Japanese pan cakes are good. But do not order the chocolate mochi. Overall, disappointed at the quality that does not fit the astounding high price! I won't buy anything from here again. Not worth it.

Delicate Japanese sweets, beautifully packaged as only the Japanese can do. Perfect gift for someone with a refined taste or happy to experience a Japanese treat.

Delicious and cute mochi/ manju desserts. I hade the Usagi strawberry and Yuzu bunnies for Easter. Just tried the Sakura mochi. So delish. Bought the watermelon, peach, and mango sherbet for a gift.

I always pass by this place on my almost daily visits to Kahala Mall, whether its picking up dinner on a random weekday evenings or shopping on the weekends while playing Pokemon Go. I didn't realize it was a store that sells mochi products. K Minamoto Kitchoan is a place where they sell Japanese confectionary products. They have a limited array of products, but on a chance opportunity with friends on a random Wednesday evening with friends in September 2021. One of them wanted to shop here and I was interested. It's a small little kiosk in the middle of the mall, practically in the center of the mall - a short walk away from the California Pizza Kitchen wing of the mall and the Taco Bell / Pizza Hut and Panda Express wing of the mall as well. First impressions were that they didn't sell food, but other things. I'm glad I learned something that night with my friends. The experience here took about 10 minutes, where they bought a few of the mochi for their personal use and a few to have the rest of us try. I felt like this kind of mochi is more higher end than what you'd find typically in CVS/Longs Drugs near the check out stand. The kiosk is as large as it was small. There's usually 2 employees at one time that was servicing us at the time. On some days when I pass thru the mall, there's usually one. The overall experience here at K Minamoto Kitchoan was very nice and casual. I'm glad that I learned about a new place where I hang out regularly outside the house. For the most part though, higher end mochi products are not really my thing, especially when there's usually a good quality stuff that are made by other local merchants that are packaged in clear plastic containers that is as good or even better. K Minamoto Kitchoan tries to be the Godiva Chocolatier in a world of Hershey and Hershey products. They strive to be the cut above the rest and that's admirable. I just feel like they're doing their best but for the common man, like me, it's usually cool to have the basic stuff and not fool around with the upper class stuff, unless you expect it to be that good on so many levels. I just felt like it could have been better, but my experience here at K Minamoto Kitchoan is very limited. While upscale mochi products are kind of neat to experience, the prices here are someone unexpected when I heard. It's quite a shocker to know that some of these are more than a burger at McDonald's. Still, they serve a unique niche in the community. If you are in the neighborhood and want to try K Minamoto Kitchoan, come on by. Its definitely an experience! K Minamoto Kitchoan is located in the middle of Kahala mall, in the form of a small kiosk, as mentioned above. The mall's physical address is 4211 Waialae Avenue in the cozy area of Kahala. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. In the age of COVID-19, face masks are required and social distancing as well. Credit cards is usually preferred here. As far as parking goes, there's a generous helping of parking here, just park next to the CVS/Longs Drug store side of the parking garage and walk in. If you are like me, bus routes, 1, 14, 22, 23, and 24 come thru the area and stops around the mall. Best bet would be to come here early to beat the crowd. If you are those who love mochi, definitely worth coming here to indulge your fix. As for me, it was not to my expectations, as far as being upscale and all. It's still good but not the mochi I've come to love in other businesses. Check it out and you might find your hidden gem here at K Minamoto Kitchoan - Kahala Mall. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the service and ambiance. 3.0 stars for the prices. Support local! C+

I want to shout out to my brother Craig T. a fellow yelper who surprise me with some snacks for a early girls day. He and he's wife brought me some cookies and some cute little mochi in a bag. I tried the pink cookie called sakura and i thought it was good the taste of the cookie tasted kinda of like marachino cherries taste but thats me. I'll try the white one which suppose to be butter. And of course the little mochi which have filling in them. My brother said its a little expensive just for mochi and cookies but the Japan tourist love it. But he said what the hey go for it my sister deserve it. How nice of him and he's wife Support local at the malls and wear your masks.

This kiosk is located at Kahala mall. I stopped by to get a Christmas gift for my best friend's parents. Tip: if you are getting something from here for the holidays, they will wrap your item in gift wrap for 15 cents. It's an additional 15 cents for a bag. Pros: -quality mochi products. The mochi I purchased today has a shelf life of about 2-3 weeks. -gift wrapping available Cons: -n/a
