We have been here many times and the food is always delicious, especially the ribs. The service is stellar and try to snag a seat on the patio so the island breeze can add to the romance .

Bloody awful. Worst Asian restaurant I've ever been. Food was awful and totally overpriced. The house fried rice was dry like it had been left out overnight. Scallops and shrimp in chili sauce for $32 had like 3 scallops in it. No white rice option in.an Asian restaurant! Or maybe they hid it in the menu. Save your money and go to Chinatown. $130 for 2 beers, 2 mains, and fried rice.

Sadly, this was a very poor experience. We love Morimoto restaurants. Went well out of our way to dine here, remembering how much we loved the space and menu at The Modern years ago. Our server was less than enthusiastic to have us. When we placed our cocktail order, he looked pained to take it and when we ordered the Gyoza, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Garlic Green Beans, he seemed frustrated that we didn't order more. Ultimately we also added dessert later. The Gyoza was delicious, the Pad Thai very good, and the Garlic Green Beans were so spicy, they were inedible. While we hadn't noticed they were marked as spicy, there is spicy and there is take-your-breath-away spicy! When we mentioned this to our server, he said “It was marked spicy.” Nothing like, “I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.” Or “Let me just check with the Chef on this to see if they were heavy handed.” We didn't ask for anything in compensation. Just remarked on the overly ridiculous spiciness... he was flippant, bordering on rude. We will not return to this restaurant. Along with the above, the ventilation in the space, EVEN with the doors open to the beautiful ocean view, was at times poor at best. Smoke coming from the kitchen had us as well as those around us, coughing periodically. It pains me to write this review. Chef Morimoto's restaurants deserve better representation!

We were so excited to try this restaurant and the food did not disappoint. We absolutely loved the roasted duck and shrimp/scallops entrees alongside a garlic green beans. The food is rather spicy and my only complain is that we had to wait quite awhile for refills on water. This is surprising at a fine dining establishment. Perhaps leaving a bottle at the table would appropriate, if the staff is busy.

Food was delicious. Staff were friendly, welcoming, courteous, and professional. We were lucky to be seated at the window and the sunset view was lovely. So comfortable. But let's go back to the food—our meal was a wonderful culinary experience. Full of flavor, visually beautiful.

Really great restaurant! Loved the food so much we ate here two nights in a row. The first night my wife and I shared the sticky ribs appetizer. Yum!!! For entrees she had the Kung Pao chicken and I had Wagyu gaprao rice...The Kung Pao was great but the gaprao rice was one of the best things I've eaten in a while. The second night we had the wantons for appetizer and shared the orange chicken and fried rice which were really good as well. The service was impeccable and we dined ocean side one night with an awesome breeze and beautiful scenery.

Our primary server was nice but wished he didn't seem in such a hurry to leave before making sure we had what we needed/anticipating. For instance, one of the dishes was served in a bowl with much sauce, and we ordered a single bowl of rice to go with. Which meant that we'd be pouring the sauce onto portions of rice on our plates. I had to flag down our busser to ask for little spoons (which he promptly and cheerfully provided). Also, we mentioned that we wanted to order another coffee after one of us was done with his beer, but our server had already closed out/printed the bill. Are they overpressured? Overall we did enjoy the expereience, though it would have been nicer if there was a bit more privacy from the neighboring table. But - understood - it's Waikiki, real estate is expensive. Also would have been nice if the selection of wines and beers was larger/more varied.

I had an absolutely great experience at Morimoto Asia Waikiki. The service was top-notch; our waiter, Captain, was attentive and made sure every aspect of our dining experience was perfect, even down to replacing our plates between courses. The food was fantastic; I can't stop raving about the A5 hot stone dish that Captain recommended--it was hands down the best choice I made on my entire vacation. The ambience was amazing, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. I'm already planning my next visit, and I'll definitely be recommending this gem to my friends that live in the island!

THIS IS A MUST VISIT...I was really disappointed with my choices of restaurants on my trip to Hawaii until the last night, we found this gem! Not only was the food super flavorful but the service was superior to any place I have been before. My servers name was Captain... like seriously that's his name I'm not joking! The kitchen was firing with smoke and energy, I was truly entertained. The sticky ribs are too die for.. the meat was so tender, I thought captain was joking when he said " the ribs are so tender the pork would almost fall of the bone"but he was more than right. I think my favorite part was the surf and turf sushi roll that gets seared right next to the table! It comes with lettuce wraps and a delicious coat of A5 wagyu on top.. All around PHENOMENAL!!!

Very disappointing signature sake was not good and tasing nothing like any Junmai DaiginjonI have ever had. Hamachi carpaccio was outstanding, green beans over sauced, old fashioned was great as well. Kung Pao chicken was rubbery and tasteless and the $100 steak was over salted and grisly. Service was fantastic and Emerson was great. Final opinion was a complete waste of $400, go somewhere else.

Desserttttttttt!!! Me and my husband were walking around looking for dessert after our lovely dinner date. Honestly we were just walking and passing by. I would have to say THE BEST TIRAMISU I have everrrrrr had! I think I'm still day dreaming about it now. Lol. The chocolate sphere was so cool. It's a chocolate ball they light on fire that comes with homemade chocolates and house made ice cream. We sat at the bar and our bartender was so great and kind! We were in and out and taken great care of. We will be happy to come back !

Amazing dining experience: food, service and atmosphere. Chef Morimoto and his local team have “knocked it out of the park” with this venture. We will be back the next time we are in Honolulu and will continue to frequent the Chef's other outposts!

Our waiter was one of the most knowledgeable waiters I have experienced. He description of the meals, style of service and reccomendations was spot on! The food was sublime and I only wish that I was staying in Honolulu a little longer to be able to go again. The main part of the dining room does seem to be quite noisy however we were lucky to be accommodated in a slightly quieter area. Overall a fantastic experience.

We were really lucky to get the table we got. We had a really nice view of the sunset. Service was just as awesome as the food. Kamalani and Chris were our servers, and they were so attentive. We got almost everything they recommended and it did not disappoint. My favorite items were the sticky ribs, house fried rice an I'm still dreaming about the shrimp. The tiramisu was incredible. I wasn't expecting much getting the vanilla ice cream but even that exceeded my taste buds. Price looks high but the amount you get as well as the quality of the food was sooo worth it. I can't wait to go back again.
