As many reviewers have mentioned, this restaurant imposes a 4% kitchen appreciation fee. While I acknowledge their right to do so, I want to remind everyone that this fee exists, as it's something I personally disliked about my dining experience.

The staff and the service was great. They were attentive and accommodating. Unfortunately the low review is more towards the food. We came anticipating japanese shabu shabu because of how the restaurant was decorated, but instead got a fairly generic Chinese style hotpot. Which is fine, but where it fell short was the soup base, dipping sauce, and kurabuta pork. The miso was too salty and lack miso flavorsThe dipping sauce was weird because it did not have typical dipping sauces you'd expect from shabu shabu and/or Chinese hotpot. The kurabuta was okay, but cut way too thick for hotpot. Which gives it that pork smell. The only way I can describe this place is shabu shabu inspired Chinese hot pot. I could be wrong, but it feels like the owners wanted to create a shabu shabu experience but haven't actually bothered to try it out or research, so they just kinda winged it. Peanut sauce is not a good substitute for sesame. Weird plum/Hoisin soy sauce is not a substitute for ponzu. And none of the above is sufficient substitute for classic variety often present in Chinese hotpot. The price wasn't bad, but I would recommend trying out any of the other japanese establishments in this court for a superior experience

Horrible service. This is our first time we came to this restaurant. Only one waiter is available. We waited for nearly an hour, no service to us!!!! Finally we went to the other restaurant, maybe that ‘s the reason this restaurant changed its name.

I'm so sorry to put a bad review. The food was "alright".Their specials may be better value but I tried the A5 Wagyu hotpot. The meat was good and vegetables were decent but there was no value here. The owner/only server disappeared during our meal so I could not order any extras while dining. Asked other staff and said I had to wait until they returned which after 10 minutes no one came.Paid and left. Not terrible but would definitely not return. I understand Hawaii is expensive but did not appreciate the value coming from someone who has dropped over $500 for a 2 person meal in other venues in Oahu. For reference I spent $120 after tip for 2 here(With a coupon).Mahalo and Aloha.

A hot pot, and BBQ restaurant located in the basement of Waikiki Shopping Plaza, inside the newly open food court Stix Asia. Good foods. Friendly staffs. Fast services during early evening. For hot pot, there are varieties of selections, paired with different broths. BBQ grill is also a good choice - it will be a little-bit smelly during cooking.

Nabe Aina was okay, but I wouldn’t come back. We decided to give a restaurant a try during the grand opening as they had a 50% discount on all their sets. We intended to share one set amongst two people as from the outside looking in, we could tell their serving size was small and we wanted to eat at other restaurants in Stix Asia afterwards. Sadly our waitress refused to sell us just one and said we HAD to buy one set per person. They also heat up their pots with what I think is a blue fire puck that burns strongly. Multiple times my SO had to move my hand while grabbing food or I’d get burn from the fires creeping over the pot. Then the fires ran out, and I was racing to heat up my leftover raw meat as I’m a slow eater. We got the Ma la nabe and the miso, however both were pretty okay. We got the premium rib eye, but couldn’t taste the difference from store bought rib eye. Their sauces were pretty tasty, but sauces do not make up $34+ cost. And yes they did include a 4% kitchen appreciation fee.

WOW the hotpot so good. Their chawamushi is the best in town and only $3 as an add on. Miso broth is my favorite
